Peloni:  Unilaterally announcing a ceasefire on the heals of a successful Israeli air attack without informing Israel, followed shortly afterwards with the news of an US-Saudi deal now being made without Israel would suggest the making of a crisis between the US and Israel, but does is this crisis real or manufactured?

There are disputes and tension on several issues, but I repeat: reports of a crisis, “the collapse of relations,” etc., have no basis in reality, as far as I was able to find out during the night and today.

I also refer you to the report that my colleague Barak Ravid revealed this morning about Dermer’s meeting with Trump in the Oval Office last night. How exactly does this fit in with a deep crisis in relations? It is unclear.”

Things do appear somewhat uncertain at this moment, but time will tell.

President Trump has now made his separate peace with the Houthis, without alerting the Israelis of his plans, and as a result, he has caused some consternation in Jerusalem, but Israeli policymakers have wisely kept mum. Trump wanted a done deal before the Israelis could rouse their supporters in the US to try to talk him out of it. Here’s the deal: the Houthis will no longer strike international shipping, and in return, Trump promises to cease bombing Houthis in Yemen. Israeli shipping, and Israel itself, are not part of the deal; they will remain targets of the Houthis, who just the other day sent a missile that managed to hit Ben-Gurion Airport.

Peloni:  It is interesting that Trump pulled Dr. Janette Nesheiwat’s nomination one day before her confirmation hearings were to begin.  So now that we have seen the confirmation of the former advocate of mRNA shots halted, might we soon see the Covid shots themselves halted, as they currently remain on the mandatory child vaccination schedule?

Also, something shared in other reports regarding Dr. Means is that she was significantly involved in the negotiated alliance between Trump and RFK during the last election season.

Peloni:  The victories in Judea & Samaria have been largely overshadowed by the successes in other fronts of this war, but they have been significant.

Peloni:  Freedom of the seas for all but Israel?  Trump said the Houthis had “capitulated”, but this doesn’t this sound like capitulation.  The Houthis are in fact taking a victory dance as they explain that it has been the US rather than they who have conceded.

Peloni:  Honickman addresses the matter of the crisis surrounding the hostage crisis in the most accurate fashion possible.  The simple reality is that while the tragedy surrounding the hostages can never be ignored, it can not be allowed to dictate national strategy.  The attempt to manipulate Israeli strategy based around the fate of these victims was in fact the very reason why they were taken in the first place, and thus far, this fact has hobbled Israel’s response to the October 7 slaughter and the months long missile attacks from Gaza.  While including the return of the hostages as one of the war aims was inevitable, it nevertheless should never have been made the primary war aim.  It is time to end the war, not thru negotiations, and not in surrender, but in an overwhelming effort to effect a final victory over Hamas.

The hostage dilemma we can’t keep avoiding. We are doing everything we can to bring  them home — and we must continue to do so. But we cannot destroy Israel in the name of saving it. Opinion.
