As the formation of the Gaza Board of Peace (BoP) steams ahead with invitations to a diverse collection of individuals and politicians from around the world, Israel is laser-focused on two specific recipients: Turkey and Qatar.
Peloni: Such delusional, nonsesnical rhetoric is what has kept the conflict in Middle East increasingly growing since well before the US decided to take advantage of the conflict beginning back more than 5 decades ago. The same Peace size peg being screwed into the same terror-laden sized hole. The outcome will not be peace but war, even as the short term profits flow freely amid the punch drunk naivete which seems all too naive to be sincere.

The United States presented new plans for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip on Thursday, as President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace (BoP) was inaugurated with a signing ceremony by representatives of most of its founding nations at the sidelines of the Davos World Economic Forum.
The “master plan” for a new Gaza was presented by White House advisor and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who noted, “If Hamas does not demilitarize, that will be what holds back Gaza and the people of Gaza from achieving their aspiration.”

Janet Levy: The Austin City Council unanimously approved a formal resolution designating January as Muslim Heritage Month. The council also elevated CAIR by proclaiming “CAIR-Austin Day,” flouting the Muslim Brotherhood group’s recent designation by Governor Abbott as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO).
It’s clear that CAIR has greatly expanded its leverage in Austin and continues building its power using false charges of “Islamophobia.”

In a brazen act of defiance against Governor Greg Abbott’s designation of CAIR as a foreign terrorist organization, Austin’s far-left City Council proclaimed ‘CAIR-Austin Day’ on January 22, 2026, while building on the city’s new permanent Muslim Heritage Month resolution to institutionalize Islamic influence, launder grievance narratives, and prioritize ideological activism over Texas public safety—all while conservatives leaders remain silent.
Peloni: With the recent moves by Saudi Arabia to adopt a hard line stance not seen in Riyadh in a very long time, doubts are rising in regards to the long term twin projects of both peace and newly established supply chains.
Notably October 7 changed everything but rather than seeing the world come together to reaffirm the rejection of Jew Hatred and erase the Muslim Brotherhood ideology which promoted that slaughter, the world came to normalize Jew Hatred while too often condemning the victims of October 7 and championing the ideology which inspired it. With this in mind, is it any wonder that MBS has reacted in a similar way that Egypt and Turkey have done, ie moving further from Israel rather than closer? The consequences of this are undermining the very strong moves which MBS took in previous years, moves which could place him on the wrong side of the Arab street which has also been paying attention to the facts which have taken place, not just during the last two years of war, but also during the last four months of so-called peace negotiations. Terror is being rewarded, rogue states are granted historic Western protections, and colonizing Ankara is being strengthened in every way imagined by the Trump administration. Is there any wonder to what Riyadh might be reacting as it retrogrades both its language and its recent actions in the region.
The end of IMEC might result in an Emirati-Indian-Israeli bloc formed in opposition to the emerging Saudi-Pakistani-Turkish one.

The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), which was envisaged as a game-changing geo-economic megaproject when it was announced in September 2023 at the G20 Summit in Delhi, was abruptly frozen by the Gaza War that broke out a month later and the West Asian War that followed. The end of those conflicts then gave rise to optimism that Saudi Arabia would normalize ties with Israel like it reportedly planned to do prior to their outbreak as the political prerequisite for building IMEC.
Order requires the defeat not only of an armed force, but of the ideology and power structures that sustained it.

The opening of Phase 2 of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan is being described as a case of realism. It risks reviving a dangerous illusion: that Hamas can be reasoned into relinquishing power if offered reconstruction, recognition or the promise of a “better life.”

No one ever thought this day would come: On Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, the flag of the Islamic State (ISIS) flew once again over Raqqa, the Syrian city that once served as its capital.
It was around ten years ago now that ISIS controlled a territory in Iraq and Syria that was larger than Britain. Given Barack Obama’s indifference (which is the best face one can put on his behavior) to its continued presence and even expansion, the ISIS caliphate looked as if it was here to stay. Then, however, came Donald J. Trump.
Peloni: So we are being told that the butchers of October 7 are to not only remain, but remain intact as active political party?? With the PA overseeing the governing structures of Gaza, Hamas is to be allowed not only a presence in the Strip, but to play a functioning role in the emerging political system which was intended to replace them. And if Trump has his way, the Turks and Qataris will be tasked with the enforcement of keeping their Muslim Brotherhood brothers in place. In what realm of sanity could such a perversion of reality be deemed acceptable to even the most mendacious of actors! This report has to be false.

The United States Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on January 21 that it sanctioned a network of organizations it says are covertly controlled by Hamas. The move aims to limit the Islamist group’s ability to raise funds while improving international mechanisms for supporting legitimate Palestinian civil and humanitarian needs.
Peloni: The US preference of Jolani over the Kurds is a recognition of Trump’s preference to promote and strengthen Turkey in the region, something which will only lead to further Turkish expansion and greater recognition of Turkey’s growing dominance in the region. The only way this can lead to peace if all others in the region are forced into the subjugating role which the Kurds were forced to accept when abandoned by the US.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a US-backed umbrella group dominated by armed Syrian Kurds from the YPG and linked to the PKK which Turkey designates a terrorist organization, rapidly collapsed over the weekend due to the coordinated defection of their Arab tribal junior partners.
Peloni: Was it a mistake for Bibi to join Trump’s Board of Peace? Would Israel have been better positioned to boycott Trump’s peace initiative leaving almost no voice for Israel on this new world stage? Is the Board of Peace the newest iteration of Oslo? Weinstein and Jolovitz provide an interesting conversation, but I don’t agree that Bibi should have remained outside the box in Trump’s new remolding of the international community. Unlike the Oslo Accords, if Israel had refused to participate, Trump’s BOP would have sailed all the same.
