Lessons from a few hours in Jenin

Israeli security forces spent a few hours in the Palestinian Authority city of Jenin earlier this month. The incident didn’t make much news, but there’s much to be learned from it.

Let’s start with the extent of the terrorist presence in the city. The Israelis managed to eliminate a total of nine armed terrorists and uncovered four explosives laboratories.

“It’s not a matter of strength or lack of capabilities, it’s a matter of will”

Peloni:  There is no inducement to bring about change in Lebanon when there is no ongoing war.  The return to so called ‘quiet’ is an inducement to preserve Hezbollah and Iran’s influence over Lebanon.  The deal struck by the US and France, the current govts of which are more interested in preserving the Mullahs in Iran than anything else, will have the effect of squandering the vast strategic victories thus far achieved by Israel and guaranteeing the rebuilding of Iran’s proxy in Lebanon which threatens Israel’s very existence, not just quiet in the North.

How does it violate international law?

Peloni:  Exactly right!  Herein lies the accurate response to such scurrilous positions opposing the extension of sovereignty over Jewish lands, which is too often libeled as ‘annexation’.

Israel’s only option on Iran is ending Khamenei’s regime

Opinion: Supreme leader has set 2040 as target for final destruction of Israel, necessitating a change in strategy that transitions from defensive to offensive action using the IDF’s intelligence and operational capabilities, U.S. support and regional alliances

There is a clock in Palestine Square in Tehran that counts down to 2040, the year Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has identified as the end of the state of Israel. And when Khamenei declares that his plan is to destroy the Israel by then, you should believe that he intends to do everything in order to succeed in this ambition, with the help of supporters inside and outside Iran. He should be taken very seriously.

The Gentle Art of Negotiating With Terrorists

Why every negotiation with terrorists falls apart.

Daniel Greenfield | November 19, 2024

The first rule of negotiating with Islamic terrorists is don’t. The second rule is if you do it, do it with heavy artillery.

Islamic terrorists don’t negotiate. They make demands in hopes of securing concessions without actually giving up anything. Only the most dedicated historian could find an example of a negotiation process during which the Islamic terrorists made an actual concession, followed through on it and did not later take it back or turn right around and go back to terrorism.

‘Designed To Be Permanent’: Israel Agrees to Ceasefire Agreement With Hezbollah

Peloni:  Two days ago I wrote “what is the likelihood that the power structure in Lebanon which is dominated by the Iranian backed Shia will be permanently broken? I would suggest that the odds are quite low, unless one of two factors are achieved:

The Mullah’s regime is toppled
Israel maintains unfettered access to act against Iran’s arms shipments into Lebanon

Should any resolution of the situation in Lebanon fail to include either of these stipulations, the rise of Hezbollah or Hezbollah 2.0 will be inevitable.”

Ben Gvir was correct to vote against this folly.

Latest Developments

• Israel to Withdraw Forces From Southern Lebanon: Israel’s cabinet accepted an American- and French-brokered ceasefire agreement on November 26 that would end fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group in Lebanon at 4 a.m. on November 27. Under the deal, which largely reinforces UN Security Council Resolution 1701 of 2006, Israeli forces will have 60 days to withdraw from southern Lebanon. Hezbollah is required to withdraw north of the Litani River, and the Lebanese Armed Forces would be tasked with securing the territory between the river and the Israeli border 18 miles to its south, dismantling Hezbollah’s infrastructure, and ensuring that its forces and UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, are the only armed personnel in the area. The agreement also includes the establishment of a committee composed of the United States, France, and the United Kingdom to monitor violations of the agreement. The Lebanese government, which serves as an intermediary with Hezbollah and must also approve the agreement, is expected to meet for discussions on November 27.

Washington is urged to reconsider military aid to Egypt due to its duplicitous actions regarding Hamas.

Why it matters: Egypt, traditionally viewed as a stabilizing ally, has been found complicit in aiding Hamas, contradicting U.S. security interests in the Middle East.

Israel set to accept Lebanon ceasefire to be declared on Tuesday, despite protests from northern mayors

Peloni: “the final draft of the agreement… will include a side letter with the United States to guarantee Israeli freedom of action to enforce violations militarily.”

Of course, this side letter will have no more value than the letter passed between George W. Bush and PM Sharon, when Bush’s successor decided to view the contents of that letter as ‘non-binding”.

Mayors and residents are furious over ‘surrender’ to Hezbollah

Israel Update: Cricis – Netanyahu vs The Brass

Peloni:  This is very good.  Mike and Gadi discuss Netanyahu’s recent statement accusing the Intelligence Community with withholding significant intelligence from him which is relevant to him running the war, while also weaponizing selective investigations of leaks to target his govt.  Also, Mike admits to having been now  convinced that Gadi’s prior conclusion which mirror that contained in Netanyahu’s speech were accurately described.

Bureaucrats in HHS System Uncooperative with RFK Jr Transition Efforts

Peloni:  Here is the problem with transitioning to a Trump presidency: Trump and the Deep State hold mutually exclusive positions on where the power lies in the US, ie the political vs the bureaucratic elements of the govt.  Should the Deep State accept Trump’s victory and transition to his position establishing the political elements of the US govt as being supreme, they are essentially surrendering their authority to him…and of course, they are not willing to do so.  While some areas are being reconciled with appointments which are more closely aligned with the Deep State, eg Rubio, there can be no reconciling of the medical bureaucracy with the appointment of RFK who intends to deny both them them and Big Pharma of their hold on power…and so the negotiations about neutering the corruption in the medical bureaucracy continues while the transitioning activities with regards to RFK are not.

Sundance | November 26, 2024

As the story is told, the unwillingness of President-Elect Trump and his transition team to comply with the rules of the bureaucracy in DC this time, has led to the Administrative State refusing to comply with any transition of power, specifically as it relates to Robert F Kennedy Jr and the healthcare transition team.

DISASTROUS CHOICES ARE SABOTAGING TRUMP’S VICTORY PART THREE

Kelleigh Nelson

Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action. Ian Fleming

The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. Sun Tzu

A traitor is a betrayer – one who practices injury, while professing friendship. Benedict Arnold was a traitor, solely because, while professing friendship for the American cause, he attempted to injure it. An open enemy, however criminal in other respects, is no traitor. Lysander Spooner

At this point in the transition of power, I am appalled at many of Trump’s choices for his second term.  Yet, the conservative pundits and talking heads are lauding Trump’s choices from Tulsi Gabbard and Kristi Noem to Mike Waltz and Pam Bondi. Telling the truth at this point would put a damper on the massive victory.

Trump & Congress Gear Up To Fight Campus Antisemitism

By Peter Berkowitz | November 24, 2024

On Nov. 15, sounding nothing like the racist threat to democracy that many of those who oppose him fear, President-elect Donald Trump announced measures “to defeat antisemitism and defend our Jewish citizens in America.” The former and soon-to-be president aims to act expeditiously. “My first week back in the Oval Office my administration will inform every college president that if you do not end antisemitic propaganda, they will lose their accreditation and federal taxpayer support,” he stated. “I will inform every educational institution in our land that if they permit violence, harassment, or threats against Jewish students, the schools will be held accountable for violations of the civil rights laws.” Trump emphasized that “Jewish Americans must have equal protection under the law.” And he promised that “[m]y administration will move swiftly to restore safety for Jewish students and Jewish people on American streets.”

The Reality of Racial Balancing and the Fight for Equal Protection

By Janet Levy | Am Thinker | November 25, 2024

In Don Lemon’s edgy interview with Elon Musk that ended his talk-show deal with X, Lemon baits the billionaire entrepreneur, asking: “Do you believe women and minority pilots are inherently less intelligent and less skilled than white male pilots?”

Without blinking, Musk hits home with: “No. I’m just saying we should not lower the standards for them.”

When Lemon pursues the point, claiming no evidence of standards being lowered, Musk retorts that there is cited evidence of “significant cases where standards are lowered.”

Why Palestinians Will Not Have New Leaders

Peloni:  The Pals are specifically weaponized to abuse, diminish, and control Israel.  The support for the promulgation of this fact comes from many and disperate sources, from the US, Europe, Russia, Iran, and the Sunnis.  This is why UNWRA is inexplicably still gaining support after being exposed again and again as being complicit and co-opted by the terrorists whom they tutor from the cradle to the grave at the expense of billions of dollars per year.  And to the point raised by Tawil in this essay, the Pals themselves are too well suckled on the hatred of Israel as part of this process to allow any reform movement within their population to take root.

by Bassam Tawil  •  Gatestone Institute  •  November 25, 2024

Palestinians still remember how political activist and human rights defender Nizar Banat, an outspoken critic of corruption in the Palestinian Authority (PA), was beaten to death by PA security officers in Hebron in 2021. Until today, no one has been punished for the killing of Banat. • For the past three decades, leaders of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas have systematically targeted political activists, journalists, social media users, students, professors and human rights activists as part of an ongoing campaign to silence critics and deter others from speaking out against the lack of democracy and freedom of speech.
