As a NPA Independent who has penned numerous analyses over the decades taking both Republicans and Democrats to task, I also wrote favorably about President Trump during his first administration.
Peloni: The reality is that Tucker Carlson has a very large following, and that this provides him with a great platform from which to promote his desired narratives. While he promotes an important mix of truth, he clearly imbues it with his own toxic views that the Jews control the world and the US govt, something which is both antisemitic, and therefore anti-American, and also counterfactually untrue. Nonetheless, his fan base gives him the security and authority to wield his nonsensical rhetoric to the four winds, leaving both his admirers and other sycophants to soak up and croak out repeats of his views to the wider world. Meanwhile, one of the targets of his implied narrative being the most powerful man in the world, Pres. Trump, it came as a great relief to finally hear Trump describe Carlson as ‘Kooky’ in recent days. Even as they seem to have made amends, it remains true that Carlson’s views of the Jews controlling the world is both untrue and still not accepted as such, even as he was forced to make some apologies for his specific rants against Pres. Trump. While I wish conservatives would find a better, less toxic venue, from which to share their message to the MAGA base, it is likely that they will continue to do as they have done. Still it would be useful, meaningful and responsible if they would both now and in the future clarify their lack of support for the antisemitic worldview which are promoted by venues such as that of Carlson if they are to continue using those venues to promote their own messaging. Otherwise, they are no less responsible, and no less complicit, than were Bannon and Johnson in promoting Carlson’s antisemitic worldview when they promoted and praised Carlson efforts to challenge Trump over whether Iran should be left to continue on its tract towards becoming a nuclear state. The MAGA movement in the US remains to be the most philosemitic movement in US history, something which I have noted quite often. As such it needs to find better media sources from which to promote the MAGA narrative than those which are hustling Jew Hatred as being a normative state of mind.
Peloni: The potential threat from Egypt is a topic which Dr. David Wurmser has also addressed in several interviews over the past two years.

In 2019, I spent days preparing a report for a senior Israeli diplomat in the UK, analysing Israel’s public diplomacy and strategic posture towards the Arab world—particularly Egypt. Drafted overnight in a London studio flat’s kitchen, the report was admittedly rough around the edges, yet it pinpointed critical Israeli deficiencies and proposed concrete recommendations. More significantly, the exchange revealed what I believe is Israel’s Achilles heel: a mindset I encountered firsthand, one that precipitated the Yom Kippur surprise and, tragically, the October 7th massacre.
Scholars like Dr Itai Shapira have meticulously dissected Israel’s intelligence culture (notably in his book, Israeli National Intelligence Culture). This article, however, addresses a distinct flaw: the inherent inability of Israeli decision-makers and intelligence analysts to distinguish friend from foe. I offer this critique as an Egyptian with extensive experience engaging Egyptian state officials and policymakers.

About a year ago, my wife and I learned that a close relative of ours had decided to volunteer for the Israel Defense Forces as a lone soldier. This was a longtime goal. He’s 19.

Recalling the recognition of evil which faced the world in WWII, President Trump has finally uttered the words, UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER, something which led to the reversal of fortune in Germany which followed the victory in that war. While the policy of denazification following WWII was ultimately left both incomplete and retrograded to suit the shifting trends of emerging geopolitical realities/interests, the demand of an unconditional surrender by the Axis powers represented the fact that the Allies would never negotiate a partial peace or contemplate any ceasefire with its enemies which might leave them with any remnant of authority, dignity or legitimacy. In fact, it would be quite relieving to know that Washington has adopted a similar sense of resolve of the Allied Powers with regards to eradicating the abject evil which has been sheltered in Iran over the past nearly half century, as amusingly announced in this historic short tweet.

We are now in day five: we began this essential war in the early hours of last Friday morning — with a massive attack on Iran.
John Spencer, chair of urban warfare studies at the Modern War Institute and codirector of the Urban Warfare Project West Point, describes it so well (emphasis added):

Peloni: China is partnered with the wrong party in this war. Trump should pursue a sanction policy which will motivate China towards acknowledging this fact, thus isolating Iran further.
Beijing condemned Israel’s sweeping strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites shortly after they began as a violation of “Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity,” according to a June 14 Chinese foreign ministry readout. Beyond rhetoric, however, Beijing has offered no material aid or mediation plan, underscoring the widening gap between China’s great power aspirations in the Middle East and its limited ability to shape fast-moving crises.

One of the best things in life is to have the privilege of taking one’s grandchildren out for ice cream. Even during a war. Perhaps especially during a war.
Peloni: Iran is a rouge state. It is responsible for the deaths of the Israelis killed on October 7 as well as the international citizens who were also butchered that day. They are responsible for the thousands of US servicemen who were targeted beginning back in 1982 Lebanon barracks bombing, those targeted in Iraq, those targeted during the missile launches against US mideast bases during Trump’s first term, and those targeted by the Houthis over the past two years, as well as the associated Houthi terror war on the high seas. Iran has no right to such blatant acts of aggression made against the nations of the world, and the US has consistently chosen to act in deference of preserving this rogue nation rather than eliminating the threat which has killed too many of its citizens. Even recently, they were granted a two month period of negotiations rather than being dealt with as if all of these war crimes and too many more to list were actually known to the US and the world, and this potential reprieve was granted to them by Trump, who the Iranians targeted for assassination. End Khamenei! End his reign of terror over the Iranian people! End his ability to make war on the nations of the world!

1. A constructive worldview must be driven by reality, irrespective of how complicated, bloody, insoluble and frustrating it may appear. It should not be driven by alternate reality, regardless of how seemingly obvious, peaceful, soluble and convenient it may seem to be.
2. Isolationists – like most people – are eager to prevent, minimize and end wars and terrorism, rather than launch wars. However, is it possible to prevent, minimize and end wars and terrorism without uprooting a chief epicenter of global wars, terrorism and drug trafficking – the Ayatollah regime?! Can a police chief minimize crime, while negotiating with – rather than fighting against – the chief crime-gangs?!
