Peloni: As the initial Kursk offensive led to the collapse of the Pokrovsk, this latest incursion may well lead to additionally difficult consequences for Ukraine.  Their limit of men, munitions and moral place them in a difficult position with regards to making such attempts to create new chapters in this war which they are not situated as being capable of winning.  An important question will be to what degree the incoming Trump administration might support such an expansion of this war, even if it were successful, and I expect that they will not be supportive of doing so at all…

At long last, on Monday Justin Trudeau has announced his pending resignation, although it will be awhile before he is actually gone. In declaring his intention to resign, Trudeau prorogued parliament until March 4, which means it will not be in session, but will not be dissolved. During this period, the Liberal Party will select a new leader, after which Trudeau says he will finally depart from the scene. Thus the misrule of this curious man is likely to come to a definitive end reasonably soon, and we can only hope that he doesn’t do too much more damage between now and then.

Peloni:  In the second half of this Morning Briefing, Schanzer interviews Ken Stein who was a former staffer and longtime, close associate of Jimmy Carter until 2006 when Carter in fact advocated on behalf of terrorism against Israel.  Stein provides an interesting perspective on Carter, emphasizing that Carter continuously chose his positions such that he would have a pivotal role to play in any negotiations which might follow.

Peloni:  This was an electrifying debate which had been decided before the debate began, and in which the opposition tried to have  Natasha’s ally in the debate, Son of Hamas, removed from the debate floor.  Censorship, of course, is the favorite tool of authoritarians.

Peloni:  So the leader of the local Muslim Brotherhood party in Israel has volunteered to give Bibi the support so that a deal might be struck which will bring some fraction of the living and dead hostages home in exchange for Israel’s capitulation, which in turn will result in the preservation of Muslim Brotherhood Hamas.  The reality is that Bibi could have surrendered with the support of Gantz and his leftist allies, and the political imagery of Bibi striking a deal with the Muslim Brotherhood to save Hamas, well, need we say more?

Capitulation is not an option for Israel’s survival, not without the support of Abbas, and certainly not with it.  Hamas must be destroyed, their remnants should be besieged without any offer of aid or sustanance, and their members should face the death penalty for their crimes.  Should there be any negotiations, this is where such bargaining should begin.  And among the negotiations which might take place, there should be no release of terrorists, no withdrawal of forces from Rafah nor from Gaza in general, and no role to be played by Abbas’ Muslim Brotherhood.

Peloni:  Greenfield describes the coordinated effort between domestic and international forces to displace Trump from office to position a sock puppet president, to some degree or another, in office whose mental incapacities, and I would argue additionally his corrupt business practices, left his managers in a position of considerable control over his presidential decisions.  He additionally notes that the ultimate challenge for the incoming Trump administration will be to restore representative govt to the American people.  Hence, it falls to Trump to eliminate the power of the  bureaucrats over the presidency, while also establishing transparency and accountability within the election process.  To do so will require far greater accountability for the treason carried out under both Trump and Biden.
