Indian workers seek jobs in Israel, undeterred by conflict

ROHTAK, India, Jan 18 (Reuters) – Thousands of men queued in India’s northern state of Harayana during a recruitment drive to send workers to Israel, where the offensive in Gaza, now in its fourth month, has caused a shortage of labour.

Masons, painters, electricians, plumbers and some farmers said they were looking for jobs in Israel with some willing to risk going into a conflict zone because they could make five times more money in a year than they would at home.

“There is unemployment here and it’s because of it that people want to leave,” said Lekharam, a mason who was among the workers gathered at a recruitment camp in Rohtak, 66 km (40 miles) from the capital, New Delhi.

Canada: Liberal Diversity Hire Who Called Jews ‘Loud Mouthed Bags of Feces’ Launches Pro-Hamas Free Palestine TV

Right under the nose of a censorship-happy government.by  Jan 16/24

Canada is now offering “a steady diet of Hamas and Hezbollah propaganda” via the new Free Palestine TV. Recall Canada’s sweeping censorship bills, C-11 and C-36, in which Trudeau labeled uncensored speech “destabilizing.” In fact, Trudeau’s own appointee, Senator David Richards, referenced Trudeau’s Online Censorship Bill as “Stalinesque,” and described it as “an Orwellian attempt to force individuals to comply with government messaging.” The online streaming bill, which finally passed in April, even targeted platforms such as Netflix, YouTube and TikTok.

How Hamas fooled gullible donors to fund its billion-dollar terror tunnel system

T. Belman. The title is inaccurate. The doners were not gullible. They simply turned a blind eye to what they knew was happening.  Similarly UNRWA was totally complicit. It knew what was happening and allowed their schools to be used as cover. It  also taught a cirriculum that made terrorists out of children.

I am more concerned with the complicity of Israel. She totally underestimated the will and intention of Hamas to to destroy her.  So much so that she allowed Qatari money to flow into Gaza. Her inability to deal with Hamas as it should have led to her refusal to properly evaluate the intelligence leading up to the massacre on Oct 7.  Unpardonable.

Hamas’ vast subterranean network of tunnels rivals the London underground and the Paris metro

By Ruth Marks Eglash, FOX NEWS       January 14, 2024

JERUSALEM — For the past three months, almost on a daily basis, Israeli gound troops fighting inside the war-weary Gaza Strip have been sending missives and images of tunnel shafts or underground complexes, including weapons dispensaries or bunkers, discovered beneath homes, schools, mosques and hospitals.

In some cases, the tunnels are simple warrens enabling Hamas fighters to ambush Israeli soldiers; in others, the shafts are vast, elaborate creations replete with elevators, electricity and full ventilation systems.

“Totally defensive” in the Middle East: The void and the non-deterrence

How NOT to deter a rogue nation like radical Iran.

By J. E. Dyer, THE OPTIMISTIC CONSERVATIVE      9 Jan 2024

Houthi boats January 2024

It doesn’t help that the U.S. military chain of command was basically, as far as we can see right now, in Status Unknown around the New Year.  It’s being reported that neither the National Security Council nor Congress was informed on New Year’s Day when Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was put in intensive care following an “elective procedure” performed sometime before (probably Christmas week).  Austin was in the ICU for four days before the NSC was told.

Regional War with Iran…and the US is Blind

E. Rowell:  Caroline Glick assesses the Obama-Biden Iran policy as appeasement of Iran and explains that you cannot have deterrence within an overall policy of appeasement.  Due to this, Iran keeps increasing their aggression throughout the Middle East.  Simultaneously to their policy of appeasing Iran and her proxies, the US policy towards Israel is currently one of claiming to be an ally, but refusing to sell weapons to Israel that Israel needs in order to achieve victory against Hamas.  Thus they show in their words and deeds that they want Israel to capitulate to the terrorists.

Do not allow Palestinian workers into Israel, Likud MKs and ministers demand

T. Belman.  Absolutely not. The Palestinians are our enemy. Don’t make a distinction betwee the terrorists and the “innocent”  Palestinians.

Some 90,000 Palestinian workers from the West Bank are employed in Israel.

By ELIAV BREUER, JPOST JANUARY 17, 2024 14:18

The Likud’s ministers in the government should not support any decision to allow Palestinian workers from the West Bank into Israel, 12 Likud Members of Knesset (MKs) and two ministers wrote in a petition addressed to the other ministers of the Likud on Wednesday.

The petition followed an admission by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday that Israel was considering a pilot program for the entry of Palestinian workers aged 45 and older, and after Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned this week that not allowing Palestinians to work in Israel would strengthen Hamas in the West Bank and ultimately lead to a deterioration in the security situation.

During the war in Gaza, the IDF recovered large quantities of weapons from the Gaza Strip that apparently were produced in North Korea, as reported by the South Korean National Intelligence Service.

Since these weapons were seized, new information has been published revealing the current and historical relationship between North Korea and Hamas, as well as other terrorist organizations, including Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Syria, and the Houthis, according to a study by the Stimson Research Institute.

SHYLOCK AT THE HAGUE: Embracing Shylock and Disdaining the International Criminal Court

By Howard Rotberg, NER

“As for legal niceties, the team of august lawyers Israel summoned to the Hague gives a shot in the arm to the ICJ, signalling that Israel concedes the case can be won on legalities. Israel was naive to rely only on jurists to defeat antisemites. One expert on anti-Israel propaganda could be worth a bench full of gowns.”  – Steve Apfel

Vote of confidence in Israel’s economy in the face of war

By Amb. (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, “Second Thought: a US-Israel Initiative”
January 16, 2024,

Irrespective of Israel’s wars against Hamas and Hezbollah, Intel, the semiconductor giant, confirmed a $25 billion investment in Israel, leveraging Israel’s brain power, which has enhanced Intel’s competitiveness in the global market.  Over the last 50 years, Intel has invested over $50 billion in Israel, establishing 4 research and development centers, despite the potential for wars and actual wars and terrorism.

Intel will expand its Israeli chip factory, in order to diversify its manufacturing potential amid a chip arms race (New York Times, December 27, 2023).*Challenged by a unique environment – top heavy on terrorism and war, but low on natural resources and rainfall – Israel has bolstered its do-or-die state of mind, with defiance of odds, risk-taking, frontier, pioneering, optimism, patriotism, can-do and out-of-the-box mentality. This has yielded a robust flow of game-changing commercial, defense and dual-use technologies.

The Scoop

Commanders and advisors from Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are on the ground in Yemen and playing a direct role in Houthi rebel attacks on commercial traffic in the Red Sea.

The IRGC has stationed missile and drone trainers and operators in Yemen, as well as personnel providing tactical intelligence support to the Houthis, U.S. and Middle East officials told Semafor. The IRGC, through its overseas Qods Force, has also overseen the transfer to the Houthis of the attack drones, cruise missiles, and medium-range ballistic missiles used in a string of strikes on Red Sea and Israeli targets in recent weeks, these officials said.

Why Do The U.S. And Israel Tolerate Qatar’s Blatant Anti-U.S. And Anti-Israel Policies?

By: Yigal Carmon, MEMRI

The Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab mosque in Doha (Source: Al-sharq.com, August 4, 2022).

Introduction

Two developments with dangerous and even explosive repercussions for the standing and interests of both the U.S. and Israel in the Middle East occurred in the last few days.

1. The U.S. has extended its presence at Qatar’s Al-Udeid airbase – CENTCOM’s main airbase in the region – for another 10 yearsIn recent weeks, there has been criticism of Qatar for its sponsoring of terrorism, causing President Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to maintain ambiguity about the future of the U.S.-Qatar alliance. This follows years of frequent undeserved U.S. praise for Qatar.
