Israeli, Republican officials blast majority leader as he alleges PM ‘has lost his way,’ allowing political survival to take precedence over good of the country

Jacob Magid | TOI | March 14, 2024

US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Thursday called on Israel to hold new elections, saying he believed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had “lost his way” and was an obstacle to peace in the region.

His comments, which sparked anger and swift condemnation by various figures in Jerusalem, came as gaps between the US and Israel continue to grow over the latter’s prosecution of its war in Gaza against Hamas. Read more…

US’s Gaza pier will dampen criticism of Israel, gives Netanyahu breathing room

Analysis: US initiative aims to deliver aid effectively, meet Democratic hardliners’ expectations and bypass Smotrich and Ben-Gvir’s influence for strategic benefit

By Ron Ben-Yishai, YNET     |

The United States has an interest in building a floating sea pier off the coast of Gaza for four main reasons. First, a sea pier would allow the unloading of large cargoes and quantities of humanitarian aid, which are 10 times or more larger than the quantities currently arriving in Gaza by trucks, most of which are plundered.

The second reason is that a pier off the northern shores of Gaza, where Israel has control and there is relatively speaking no dense population that would attack the aid shipments, will ensure that the aid directly reaches the aid organizations operating inside the strip without the mediation of Hamas and crime families.

Report: US told Israel it would only support ‘small-scale’ Rafah operation

Politico report: Senior US officials have told their Israeli counterparts the Biden administration would support a Rafah operation as long as Israel avoids a large-scale invasion.

  Mar 14, 2024, 3:51 AM (GMT+2)

Senior US officials have told their Israeli counterparts the Biden administration would support Israel going after high-value Hamas targets in and underneath Rafah, as long as Israel avoids a large-scale invasion that could fracture the alliance, Politico reported on Wednesday.

The Biden administration is still grappling with what kind of Israeli military operation it can accept in Rafah, the report said, with US officials knowing full well Israel wants to eliminate Hamas’ four battalions in the southern Gaza city on Egypt’s border.

IDSF Daily Briefing: New Law Passed Allows Terror Victims to Sue PA

Peloni: Hirch provides a very detailed review of both why this law is needed and how it will work.  He also explains the limitations of the law and why these limitations were not expanded.  This is a very important move, and it is very good to see that this law has finally been passed, as its passage is well overdue.  May it serve as the first of many nails in the coffin of the old conception.  Terror should be prosecuted by all military, political and fiscal means.

JPOST article on this law can be found at bottom

Lt. Colonel Res. Maurice Hirsch discusses the new law passed in the Knesset to allow Israeli victims of terror to sue the Palestinian Authority.

How the Gaza Ministry of Health Fakes Casualty Numbers

The evidence is in their own poorly fabricated figures

BY ABRAHAM WYNER, TABLET    MARCH 07, 2024

The number of civilian casualties in Gaza has been at the center of international attention since the start of the war. The main source for the data has been the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, which now claims more than 30,000 dead, the majority of which it says are children and women. Recently, the Biden administration lent legitimacy to Hamas’ figure. When asked at a House Armed Services Committee hearing last week how many Palestinian women and children have been killed since Oct. 7, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the number was “over 25,000.” The Pentagon quickly clarified that the secretary “was citing an estimate from the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry.”

Dressed in all their ethnic finery, two heroic, religious, anti-Islamist Muslim women—Anila Ali from Pakistan and Soraya Deen from Sri Lanka—came to see me. They are beautiful women. Anila is a teacher and a community leader. Soraya is a lawyer. Both describe themselves as Muslim philanthropists. They met in 2011 while doing interfaith work in the United States.

John Spencer: Why the World is Wrong in Comparing Gaza to Any Other Conflict | Glick

Carolyn Glick | JNS | March 12, 2024

Caroline Glick speaks with the Chair of Urban Warfare Studies at the Modern War Institute John Spencer about, in his analysis, the wrongful comparisons between the Israel/Gaza war and other urban warfare conflicts. Spencer first made waves when he posited in several Newsweek articles that the civilian casualty number is actually quite low, that Israel was in full compliance with international law and that any comparison to urban warfare in Afghanistan and Iraq is entirely incorrect. Spencer breaks down his arguments and explains that despite what the international community thinks Israel is actually winning the war “spectacularly”.

The Anti-Democratic Democratic Left

By Victor Davis Hanson, American Greatness   March 11, 2024

Joe Biden has claimed that his opponents are assaulting democracy based on the January 6, 2020, buffoonish riot.

Aside from the fact that storming the Capitol Rotunda sometimes is apparently deemed permissible—as in the recent pro-Hamas takeover of it—or aside from the fact that disrupting a federal government proceeding is deemed exempt—as in the recent pro-Hamas throng that blocked the route of the presidential motorcade and thus delayed the State of the Union address to the nation by 26 minutes—who really is attacking democracy?

Europe Swings Right

Socialists face setbacks across the globe, and Joe Biden could be next.

By John Mac Ghlionn, AMERICAN MIND                  13 March 2024

PORTUGAL-POLITICS-ELECTION-VOTE

For the past eight years, the Socialist Party ruled Portugal. On Sunday, however, that run ended when the center-right Democratic Alliance won the country’s general election. Portuguese citizens, fed up with years of hyper-progressive politics and criminally bad policies, are following other European peoples in turning to a conservative alternative. Read more…

What is ‘The Zone of Interest’ about?

E. Rowell:  This article explores the theme of living in a culture in which the stranglehold of totalitarianism is being experienced by people who seek only the truth.  In the process of exploring this, Barr mentions the idea that many in the UK think a movie about the Holocaust is a movie about Gaza.  The idea that Gazans are experiencing genocide when it is exactly the opposite;  they are the committers of genocide, is shocking and disturbing.  When the truth can be turned on its head and lies viewed as the truth, society has been completely corrupted and infested with evil, just as it was in Nazi Germany.

By Andrew Barr, STIFF NECKED                                   13 March 2024

I’ve resisted writing before now about Jonathan Glazer’s brilliant and disturbing Holocaust film ‘The Zone of Interest’ because I thought its meaning was obvious. It’s about the daily lives of Rudolf Höss, the commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp, and his wife Hedwig. They live immediately next to the camp; the dividing wall is ever-present in the film. So are the sounds of the camp. But we don’t see what happens in the camp, because the Hösses ignore it and go on with their daily lives as though it were perfectly normal to have torture and mass murder taking place a few yards away from one’s home. The film carries an obvious message about the self-serving bourgeoisie caring only about the mundane details of their own lives and ignoring the horrors immediately on the other side of the wall.

Israel has hit more than 4,500 Hezbollah targets since the start of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, the IDF said on Tuesday after some 100 rockets were fired from Lebanon by the Iran-backed terror group earlier in the day.

According to the IDF’s estimates, more than 300 Hezbollah operatives have been killed, including five senior commanders, and 750 have been wounded by Israeli strikes across five months of daily skirmishes along the border.

Biden’s problem is with Democrats who hate Israel, not Netanyahu

By Jonathan S. Tobin (JNS)

It seems that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is feuding with another American president. That’s what the White House and its corporate-media echo chamber cheerleaders at publications at The New York Times and broadcast outlets like MSNBC would like you to believe. As was the case during the administrations of Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, Netanyahu has become the foreign leader mostly likely to be bashed by President Joe Biden and his foreign-policy team. They see him as an obstacle to the policies they wish to pursue, as well as a political problem heading towards the November election.

Biden Draws a ‘Red Line’ for Israel

He ignores that the Jewish state can’t defeat Hamas without taking Rafah.

By The Editorial Board, WSJ        March 11, 2024 8:40 am ET

President Biden likes to say that no President has been a better friend to Israel, but of late he doesn’t sound like it. He beat up Israel’s leaders in his State of the Union speech, criticized its war strategy in Gaza with regularity, and on the weekend called Israel’s plans to clear Hamas from its last stronghold in the city of Rafah a “red line” that Israel shouldn’t cross.

Alex Jones Warns Trump Will Lose Election If He Keeps Praising Covid Vaccine.

But I have a Way for Trump to Turn Covid Vaccines into Biggest Win-Win of All-Time

By Wayne Allyn Root, GATEWAY    12 MARCH 2024

Alex Jones just warned President Trump to stop praising the Covid vaccine, after the latest Trump post at TruthSocial over the weekend.

And I agree that Trump praising the Covid vaccine is a big mistake. For a guy who always wins, and loves to negotiate “win-win” deals, President Trump needs to understand the Covid vaccine is the world’s biggest “lose-lose.”

Political upheaval: Sa’ar breaks from National Unity party, demands to join Cabinet

Peloni: So instead of Biden getting the upheaval he wanted in Bibi’s Right wing govt, it appears that it is instead Gantz’ party which is splitting.  This is a sizeable defeat for Gantz, coming just after his outrageous act of insubordination from which Saar specifically distanced himself.  It is also an attempt by Saar to find a way back to the Right in hopes that he will not be left out in the cold in the next election.  Notably, it would appear that Saar is not too strongly persuaded by the inexplicable polling which has suggested that Gantz and his colleagues on the Left will dominate in that election.

Benny Gantz’s party breaks up as Gideon Sa’ar announces decision to make New Hope an independent faction so its voice will be reflected in the War Cabinet.
