While all eyes, for good and ill, are on Gaza and the Trump plan, the future of the Jewish state is being decided in Judea and Samaria. It is there, and not in Haifa or Tel Aviv, where Jewish history was made over the last 3,500 years. The League of Nations assigned Judea and Samaria to be part of the territory that was to become the Jewish National Home, and then the State of Israel. In 1967, the UN Security Council Resolution 242 recognized that Israel had a right to retain any territory the IDF had won in the Six-Day War that the Jewish state required if it was to have “secure and defensible borders.”

Peloni:  The consequence of the deficiency in munitions, men and morale is unavoidable for Ukraine.  Pursuing objectives which diminish Russian naval or energy assets can not change this reality because it does not address the deficiencies which are responsible for the reality that Ukraine continues to cede ground nearly continuously while attacking Russia’s energy and naval assets.  The incongruence only grows greater with each declared Ukrainian ‘victory’ which fails to provide battlefield benefits…and the butcher’s bill grows ever greater for both sides.

That is much less than the actual 2025 budget, which reflected high wartime costs and implementation of the “Nagel Committee” recommendations, including an agreement between the Finance and Defense ministries on the funding sources. It is also much higher than the pre-war planned budget, and very close to the budget the “Nagel Committee” recommended for 2026 (96 billion ILS) – but that is before one gets into the details.
