Israel’s popular Eretz Nehederet television show depicts the far-right politician Itamar Ben-Gvir with eyes that explode out of his forehead, straining into the demented full hemispheres of a cartoon character or a serial killer. That the leader of the potentially third-largest party in Israel’s Knesset is a dangerous lunatic is already obvious to most viewers of the show, the country’s Saturday Night Live-like outlet for giving comedic form to establishment orthodoxies. The true contribution of the widely viewed Sept. 21 sketch is its suggestion that Ben-Gvir is not just insane, but campy.

One reason why the western public has been so indifferent to the threat posed by the Iranian regime is the widespread belief that only Israel is at serious risk.

This, of course, is not only pernicious but absurd. The Iranian Islamic revolutionary regime declared war against the west as soon as it came to power in 1979. It has pursued ever since a relentless war against western interests; its fingerprints have been all over every major global terrorist atrocity; it has killed American, British and other coalition forces in Iraq; it has a programme of building inter-continental ballistic missiles with a target range of Europe and America; it is a malign and anti-western presence from Afghanistan to Yemen.

According to officials, Israel has succeeded in almost completely curbing Iran’s ability to transfer weapons to Syria and to manufacture weapons there.

The Israeli military has destroyed about 90% of Iran’s military infrastructure and attempts to entrench itself – with Hezbollah – in Syria, top officials in the defense establishment claimed over the weekend.

According to the officials, Israel has in recent years succeeded in almost completely curbing Iran’s ability to transfer weapons to Syria, to manufacture weapons on the country’s soil and to establish a base in it with pro-Iranian forces.

We should all know about Mengele and his immoral, unethical, evil, barbaric experiments on human beings, particularly the Jews; particularly twins, during the Holocaust. We were to have learned from those “experiments” that doctors must be overseen. Not all are ethical. That not all procedures are acceptable. That we must, as a society, say no to unproven medical practices, especially on children.

Remember when?

Now it is easy to see why people have come to believe that the once-vaunted justice system in the US became two-tiered; one for favored elites and one for those the elites loathe.  There are countless examples of this:  peaceful pro-life demonstrators have been raided and charged with serious crimes that they did not commit, while those who fire-bomb pregnancy centers are not even investigated, let alone charged.  Among the hundreds of violent protesters who burned their own cities down in the wake of the George Floyd debacle, few were charged with the crimes they committed and most of those that were had the charges dropped.

T. Belman. This is typical of JTA and TOI. This article is wrong on everything. Ukraine did pose a threat to Russia. It also had killed over 10,000 Russians in eastern Ukraine since 2014.  Israel is not an occupier of anyone’s land. Russia did not annex Ukrainian territory . It annexed former Ukraine territory, which territory had seceded according to law. It considered the recent biased report of the UN Commission of Inquiry worthy of being referenced.

Just yesterday, former Trump adviser and campaign strategist Steve Bannon was sentenced to four months in jail following his conviction on two counts of criminal contempt of Congress. Bannon was ordered to pay a fine of $6,500.
