Death for “Blasphemers” in Pakistan

by Raymond Ibrahim, GATESTONE  •  July 17, 2022

  • “Muhammad Irfan came to my shop for wheel balancing for his motorbike. I balanced the wheel and demanded my amount of labour as settled between us. Muhammad Irfan refused to give me money and said, ‘I am a follower of Peer Fakhir [a Muslim ascetic] and don’t ask for money from me.'” — Ashfaq Masih, Christian falsely accused of “blasphemy” and sentenced to death by hanging, chuchinchains.ie, July 7, 2022.
  • “They both made conspiracy against me and lodged a false FIR [First Incident Report] against me. I told the real story to a police officer but he did not record my version but conducted investigation ex-parte. I neither uttered any derogatory word against Prophet Muhammad nor can think about it.” — Ashfaq Masih, chuchinchains.ie, July 7, 2022.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Saturday became the latest Republican to voice opposition to the Supreme Court’s ruling to legalize gay marriage in Obergefell v. Hodges, saying on an episode of his podcast “The Cloakroom” with conservative political commentator Liz Wheeler that the ruling was “clearly wrong.”

Why it matters: The Supreme Court’s recent ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade has prompted many Democrats and activists to warn that other legal precedents such as contraception and gay marriage could be next to be overturned.

There is a ‘deafening media silence’ on global protests

A Popular Uprising Against the Elites Has Gone Global | Opinion

RALPH SCHOELLHAMMER , ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ECONOMICS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE AT WEBSTER UNIVERSITY, VIENNA

A popular uprising of working-class people against the elites and their values is underway—and it’s crossing the globe. There is a growing resistance by the middle and lower classes against what Rob Henderson has coined the “luxury beliefs” of the elites, as everyday folks realize the harm it causes them and their communities.

Saudi minister: Peace with Israel ‘strategic option’ but not before 2-state solution

T. Belman.  I think what is important is not what they say but what they do. I couldn’t care less that they are insisting on the API. They are normalizing relations and that’s what counts.

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — A senior Saudi minister described normalizing ties with Israel as a “strategic option,” while clarifying that a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians was a “requirement” before Riyadh would formalize ties with Jerusalem.

Biden Administration: The Friendliest to Iran’s Mullahs?

by Majid Rafizadeh, GATESTONE  •  July 16, 2022

  • Even [Iran’s mullahs] probably cannot believe that they have gotten away with so many violations since the Biden administration assumed office.
  • Now, in Natanz, the Iranian regime is digging an underground nuclear facility that is reportedly extremely difficult to bomb.

MAARIV Paints Troubling Picture of New York Times’ Israel Coverage

By Gidon Ben-Zvi, ALGEMEINER

In a recent exposé published by the Israeli daily Ma’ariv, journalist Lilac Sigan paints a disturbing picture of The New York Times’ coverage of Israel during the first half of 2022.

Based on her analysis of pieces published on the front page, the Opinion section, and the World section of The New York Times online, Sigan found that the “newspaper of record” disproportionately focuses on Israel, is overly selective in which Israel-related stories it reports on, and fails to provide its readers with the proper context in its coverage of news surrounding Israel and the Palestinians.

Why the Palestinians Are Not like the Irish

By Mike Konrad, AM THINKER

President Biden’s recent comment at a Palestinian hospital in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel — where he compared the Palestinians’ situation to the Irish under British rule — could be dismissed as a simple gaffe, except that the false analogy (the technical terms is casuistry) is gaining ground in Europe for all the wrong reasons.

In simple terms, the Irish have almost nothing in common with the Palestinians — not in their history, not in their culture, not in their situation.

The war on fossil fuels is concluding—and the good guys are losing

By Andrea Widburg, AM THINKER

There are several entities that saw a benefit in declaring war on fossil fuel: The environmentalists who are so historically illiterate that they believe a world without fossil fuels will be a bucolic paradise, rather than a Hobbesian nightmare; the leftists who want to break the West to rebuild it as a socialist paradise; the Great Reset/New World Order crowd, which envisions happy, possession-free serfs; and the Chinese, who foresee a bloodless conquest of the West which, believe me, will not be anybody’s paradise. While the winner among these groups isn’t clear, the loser is coming into focus: Ordinary people across the Western world. The latest example comes from Germany.

Efraim Inbar: Israel Will Confront Iran Militarily, Deal or No Deal

T. Belman.  This explanation of why the US and the EU want the new Iran deal, rings true. But I should mention that they wanted this deal since Biden was inaugurated, long before the Ukraine War.

by Marilyn Stern, MEFORUM  24.6.22

Efraim Inbar, president of the Jerusalem Institute for Security Studies (JISS), spoke to a June 24th Middle East Forum Webinar (video) about the implications of a potential nuclear deal between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Inbar said the U.S. has made a “strategic decision” to “pivot away from the Middle East” to concentrate on China and its goal to “undermine” the U.S. This makes the Biden administration “desperate” to close a nuclear deal with Iran to open the regime’s oil to the world market and relieve America’s energy crisis and the resulting inflation and economic pressure.

Yes, Biden Is Hiding His Plan To Rig The 2022 Midterm Elections

The White House is refusing to share details about its coordinated efforts to engage in a federal takeover of election administration.

By Molly Hemingway, THE FEDERALIST

President Biden really does not want the public to know about his federal takeover of election administration. Dozens of members of Congress have repeatedly asked for details, to no avail. Good government groups, members of the media, and private citizens have filed requests under the Freedom of Information Act. Not a single one has been responded to. All signs indicate a concerted effort to keep the public in the dark until at least after the November midterm elections. The lack of transparency and responsiveness is so bad that the Department of Justice and some of its agencies have been repeatedly sued for the information.

A virtual summit during US President Joe Biden’s visit to Israel – including Biden, Prime Minister Yair Lapid, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan – represents a huge strategic shift.

It has been years in the making, as Israel and India were already strategic partners, and the Abraham Accords brought in the UAE.

Shaked Adopts Smotrich’s Bill Increasing Number of Jewish Communities Able to Reject Arabs in Galilee

T. Belman. I also support this bill. People in small communities should have the right to exclude who they will. Some Condominiu owners in the US already have this right.

By  David Israel, JEWISH PRESS

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked on Sunday tweeted giddily: “A Zionist message on Jerusalem Day – the Admissions Committees bill, making it possible to increase thenumber of families in municipalities with admissions committees, has been approved by the Ministerial Legislative Committee.”

“This is a step on the way to strengthening and expanding Jewish settlement in the Galilee on the one hand, and for the housing market on the other,” Shaked explained, adding, “For 10 years we’ve been trying to pass this law and now we are past the first phase. Thanks to MKs Nir Orbach and Yomtov Kalfon for pushing this forward.”
