Jordan Key to Deepening Abraham Accords, Calming West Bank

T. Belman. This was written over a month ago by a former MK. I disagree with her on a number of her observations. I believe that King Hussein is the problem and not the solution.

By Ksenia Svetlova, The Media Line  05/13/2022

Israelis and Jordanians no longer hide their willingness to cooperate, but King Abdullah’s complex internal situation and mounting tensions at Al-Aqsa Mosque may impede rapprochement.

Relations between Israel and Jordan have experienced a rebirth over the past year. After the exit from office of former Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, under whose leadership relations with the Hashemite monarchy were strained and sometimes hostile, the two sides have rediscovered each other, like a couple that falls in love again after years of mutual acrimony. The Jordanians no longer hide their willingness to cooperate with Israel on a variety of topics, such as a joint food program, renewable energy, the struggle against radical Islam, preventing arms smuggling, and stabilizing the Palestinian territories.

India Cowers Under Islamist Threats, Again

T. Belman. I am totally against any anti-blasphemy law or any law that makes it a crime to criticize Islam. Nevertheless, I understand the desire and the need to appease Muslims. Unfortunately, more is at sake then merely criticizing Mohammed or Islam. This is a fight for dominance and clearly the Muslims are winning. The West is also caving on its desire to ostracize the use of  Sharia Law.

De-escalating a diplomatic bonfire sparked by “blasphemy.”

By Saurav Dutt, FPM   Jun 15/22

India has been thrust into a diplomatic firefight with Islamic nations due to a controversy ignited by BJP spokespersons’ remarks on the Muslim prophet Muhammad. The furor began after two spokespersons of the ruling party, the BJP, made derogatory references to Islam and Muhammad, forcing New Delhi into urgently trying to appease neighborhood Islamic nations and hardline Islamists that demanded nothing less than punishment for both, particularly whom they deemed to be the serial offender, one Nupur Sharma.

Shaked pressuring Bennett: Agree to right-wing government in the current Knesset

T. Belman. This option is being investigated first. I imagine one of the issues is assuming that it is so formed, how long will its term be. Bennett will want it to be as long as possible, Netanyahu will want it to end as soon as possible. I think we are looking at a 3 year term. I would be OK with Bennett as Def Minister.

It may be if all rightwing parties come together on the Sovereignty law, that would signal a deal has been done on the new government. Sa’ar would have to agree with the Likud legislation to impower the Knesset at the expense of the Selection Committee. Maybe he rejected it at first in order to strengthen his bargaining position.

If his government disintegrates, Bennett will consider joining a right-wing government led by Netanyahu.

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked is pressuring Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to agree to the formation of a right-wing government in the current Knesset.

This would mean Bennett giving up the role of Prime Minister. Shaked is not only pressuring the Prime Minister on this, but also senior members of the New Hope party. The main obstacle is whether everyone involved would consent to sit under Benjamin Netanyahu. Bennett himself is very reluctant about the move, but does not completely rule it out.

Ben & Jerry’s employees required to view anti-Israel lectures on Israeli-Palestinian conflict

The narrator, an anti-Israel activist, counselled the company’s board last year ahead of its decision to stop selling its products in the “occupied territories.”

By World Israel News Staff

Ben & Jerry’s is requiring all new employees to watch four videos about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, all of which appear to be biased against the Jewish state, the Jewish Insider reported.

The videos are part of the company’s “Scooper Series: Social Mission” concerning the conflict as well as racism in the U.S., an employee told the Jewish Insider.

Featured in one of the videos is anti-Israel activist Omar Shakir, Human Rights Watch’s Israel and Palestine director. Shakir, a BDS promoter, advocates for a one-state solution to the conflict – meaning an end to the Jewish state.

21 countries defend Israel against UN Commission of Inquiry, scathing first report

“We believe the nature of [it] is further demonstration of disproportionate attention given to Israel that has carried over from the founding of this council and must stop,” said U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva Michèle Taylor.

While an official U.N. Commission of Inquiry seeks Israel’s diplomatic isolation, 21 nations came out in support of the Jewish state on Monday, expressing concern about the commission’s uncommonly broad mandate and the U.N. Human Rights Council’s irregular targeting of Israel.

In Geneva, the three members of a U.N. Commission of Inquiry—all of whom have a history of anti-Israel activity and rhetoric—addressed the Human Rights Council and the press in the wake of their first report released last week.

Britain’s deportation farce

T. Belman. This article should be read carefully. The situation she describes apply similarly to the US and To Israel. Remember all the trouble Israel to expel illegal immigrants.

“Human rights” culture is now an active threat to the rule of law

By Melanie Phillips

Migrants in the English Channel, 2021

Boris Johnson’s Rwanda deportation policy has descended into a circular farce.

The British government wanted to deport illegal asylum-seekers to Rwanda, under an agreement reached with that country. It intended to fly out the first such group yesterday.

Judea & Samaria sovereignty bill heads to ministerial committee

T. Belman.  Surely they jest.

Bill drafted by Religious Zionist Party to face key vote in ministerial committee. ‘No doubt Liberman, Yamina, New Hope will back the bill.’

Religious Zionist Party MKs?

The Ministerial Committee for Legislation will vote Sunday on a bill which would apply Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.

The bill was submitted by Religious Zionist Party chief MK Bezalel Smotrich and MK Orit Strook (Religious Zionist Party) in response to the ongoing deadlock in the Knesset over the Judea and Samaria Law.

January 6 for Non-Dummies

The January 6 committee is pure political theater intended to crush the MAGA movement once and for all.

By June 13, 2022

During another public hearing on Monday, the January 6 select committee featured a witness so irrelevant that his appearance should prompt even the most ardent defender of Nancy Pelosi’s illegitimate inquisition to question the committee’s real purpose. Former Fox News talking head Chris Stirewalt, fired by the network shortly after the Capitol protest for calling the state of Arizona for Joe Biden early on election night, told his sob story to a presumably slim viewing audience.

The washed-up commentator, however, is the last person with any insight into the events of January 6, 2021. Stirewalt’s performance—similar to the overwrought speechifying by committee members last Thursday—is another headfake designed to turn attention away from the truth about what happened that day and in the months leading up to the brief disturbance that resulted in the deaths of four Trump supporters.

As Russia threat grows, visiting European Union chief looks to Israel for solutions

T. Belman. You have to wonder if Europe needs us so much, why do we take so much shit from them.

In ToI interview, Ursula Von der Leyen indicates Europe sees Jerusalem as a valuable ally on defense, energy, food security; says Iran deal ready but ‘political decisions needed’

By HAVIV RETTIG GUR, TOI     13 June 2022,

In February 2015, as Russia-backed separatists waged war in eastern Ukraine, America seemed eager for a fight.

Then-vice president Joe Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin “continues to call for new peace plans as his troops roll through the Ukrainian countryside and he absolutely ignores every agreement that his country has signed in the past.”

‘He should’ve called me’ – ex-Trump envoy David Friedman slams veteran Israeli journalist

T. Belman.  I totally agree with Friedman’s remarks. Not that I was a fly on the wall but because that’s also how I viewed Trump’s position. Regarding the fact that we intended to annex immediately and then the rug was pulled from under us, my guess is that the UAE or Saudi Arabia contacted Trump and nixed the idea.

In an exclusive interview with World Israel News, Friedman said that Trump’s disparaging remarks against Netanyahu were possibly taken out of context.

By Debbie Reiss, World Israel News

Former U.S. ambassador to Israel David Friedman has rejected claims made by Barak Ravid in his book, “Trump’s Peace,” saying the veteran Israeli journalist “should have called me.”

Emergency regulations: A poor stand-in for national policy

The only thing that has prevented Israeli governments since 1967 from applying Israeli law in Judea and Samaria is their own timidity

By Naomi Kahn, jns   June 13/22

The Emergency Regulations Law in Judea and Samaria is expected to be brought to the Knesset plenum for another vote in the coming days, after being voted down in the Knesset plenum for the first time in over five decades. This rather standard legislation, which has been passed without question every five years since 1967, failed to pass a first reading last week, due to a “perfect storm” of political and ideological arm wrestling: Of the Knesset’s 120 parliamentarians, 52 voted in favor, 58 opposed.

Matan Kahana: ‘I wish I could press a button and send the Arabs to Switzerland’

T. Belman.  So do I.

A prominent conservative publisher refused to publish my article, It’s not too late to make amends to the Jewish people for this historical injustice. because its last paragraph read,

“All Palestinians who are not Israeli citizens should be induced to move to Jordan and Israel should declare sovereignty over all lands to the west of the Jordan River.”

I responded to their specific remarks,
