After Kenneth Roth, can Human Rights Watch be repaired?

Restoring their lost credibility, if it can be done, will require a major effort taking many years. Opinion.

(JNS) The head of Human Rights Watch (HRW), Kenneth Roth, recently announced that he will be leaving the organization after 29 years. For nearly three decades, he led HRW far from its founding principles, which were based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted in the shadow of the Holocaust. Instead, HRW today is often considered a political organization with a highly selective agenda and an obsession with Israel. To restore their lost credibility, if it can be done, will require a major effort that will take many years.

Jordan fully determined to end Jewish prayer on Temple Mount

T. Belman. Pinchas Inbari, who is quoted in this article, says “it is in Israel’s interest to maintain Jordan’s status on the Temple Mount”. The Jordan option takes the opposite position. It is important that King Abdullah be replaced. Shragai and Inbari are both associated with the JCPA.

Amman presents list of demands with regard to the flashpoint site, which includes limiting visits by Jewish groups and replacing Border Police officers with Waqf security. Nevertheless, one Israeli expert says maintaining Jordan’s status in Jerusalem is in Israel’s interests.

Jordan and the Palestinian Authority have reached a new understanding with regard to the Temple Mount status quo. At the White House on Saturday, King Abdullah presented the conditions of this new understanding. The king accused Israel of gradually encroaching on the status quo, outlined several demands, and asked President Joe Biden for support.

Amid harsh criticism from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, Esther Hayut warns that discourse about court is ‘deteriorating’ to ‘dangerous places’

Supreme Court President Justice Esther Hayut on Monday cautioned that the political discourse surrounding the court system was devolving and warned that attacks on the justice system were “dangerous.”

“Regrettably, civil dialogue and personal responsibility have given way to confrontational discourse that has bred attacks on the judiciary and its judges and strident calls to harm them and curtail their powers,” Hayut said in a speech at the Israel Bar Association conference in Eilat.

Expanding NATO Undermines European and American Security

Rather than contributing to our defense, our membership in an expanding NATO will mean more conflict for the United States, and for Europe.

By

Alliances are supposed to deliver peace and protection for their members through the logic of deterrence. The theory is simple: an alliance of nations is stronger than any one of them would be alone. NATO seemed to accomplish this during the Cold War, not least because of the additional deterrent power of America’s nuclear arsenal.

House passes “Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act” targeting Americans’ thought, speech

By Eric Utter, AM THINKER

The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed a new bill that would greatly enhance the federal government’s ability to spy on Americans in an alleged effort to combat “domestic” terrorism.

H.R. 350, or the “Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act,” passed by a margin of 222-203. The vote was almost entirely along party lines, with every single House Democrat and a lone House Republican– the reprehensible RINO Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois– voting to approve the measure.

Dr. McCullough: ‘Medical crisis’ is being exploited to push global government

L. Goudsmit. Doctors are speaking out about the connection between mandated “vaccines” and totalitarian globalist control. Political medicine is being used to impose planetary global governance – the Great Reset – and the transfer of national sovereignty to United Nations global governance is happening at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos and Geneva on May 22, 2022. It is globalist Armageddon, and the culmination of globalism’s worldwide coup d état.

LIFE SITE NEWS    Fri May 20, 2022

The world-renowned physician has spoken prolifically about how to treat, and not to treat COVID. Now, he is cutting to the heart of what he believes is behind harmful protocols.

BATH, England (LifeSiteNews) — Dr. Peter McCullough on Friday sketched what he believes is the true purpose of an induced COVID “medical crisis”: global world government.

Rashida Tlaib’s indelible stain on Congress

By Victor Sharpe  May 20, 2022

The Democrat representative of Michigan in the House of Representatives is Rashida Tlaib who spends her time as part of the disreputable group of house Democrat women who call themselves the Squad.

Mark Levin, Conservative Radio host and consummate expert on the U.S. Constitution, says this of the so-called Squad. “This is not a Squad. This is a cabal of Marxists who hate this country – some of them first, second-generation immigrants into the country, who bring their attitudes, who bring their indoctrination into the country and are at war, right there in the halls of Congress, against our own country.”

A “Dear Europe” Letter

by Victor Rosenthal

Negotiations are underway between Israel and the European Union for Israel to sell natural gas to Europe, which wishes to end its dependence on Russia for fuel. Italy and Germany presently get 40% and 35% of their gas from Russia, respectively. Russia recently informed Finland – which just announced that it would like to join NATO – that it would stop selling it gas. The dispute is officially about a Russian demand to be paid in rubles, and it represents only a small amount of Finland’s energy supply, but the political overtones are unmistakable. The delivery of Israeli gas, via Egypt, could begin as early as this coming winter.

Naturally, I welcome the idea that Israel will be able to help the Europeans in their time of need. It can get very cold in Europe in the winter. So I have prepared a draft of a letter that our government could send to the EU in order to get the ball rolling. It’s warmish now at the end of May, but Berlin, for example, is located at 54.5 north latitude, and temperatures there in January average 1 degree C. So let’s get started!

Lebanon Gives Tehran a Double Whammy

By Amir Taheri, GATESTONE  •  May 22, 2022

  • [A]s official results came in, [Iran’s Supreme Guide Ali] Khamenei and [Major General Esmail Qaani, chief of the Quds Force who is supposed to rule the “Resistance Front” countries as a satrap]… realized that the Lebanese electorate, or at least the 49% who went to the polls, had denied Tehran the “crushing victory” it had hoped for.
  • That meant a double whammy in two of the four Arab capitals that Ayatollah Ali Yunesi boasts are now under Tehran’s control; the others being Sanaa and Damascus.

“They Consider Us Inferior and Want to Rule Us”: The Persecution of Christians, April 2022

by Raymond Ibrahim, GATESTONE  •  May 22, 2022

  • On Good Friday, Fulani [Muslim tribe] kidnapped eight Christians. Four were released after paying a hefty ransom. One of the women released said that she was “raped several times by two leaders of the Fulani Militants.” A “militant told us, after receiving the ransom money, that they got money to kill more Christians.” — International Christian Concern, April 18, 2022, Nigeria
  • “It is not the first time that we ourselves have been attacked in Italy because we are Christians… It makes me angry to think that this discrimination also exists here.” — Daughter of a Coptic Christian man who was attacked for smoking during Ramadan, medforth.biz, April 23, 2022, Turin, Italy.

Bill Maher has had it with his party’s transgender madness

By Andrea Widburg, AM THINKER

For at least 20 years, Bill Maher occupied the more left side of the Democrat party. However, as Elon Musk recently did, Maher is also discovering that the Democrat party has pulled so far left that all he can do is stare aghast at the flaming pile of nonsense that is his erstwhile political home. Maher is, ever so slowly and reluctantly, being red-pilled. Most recently, Maher has decided that the Democrats have gone way too far with transgenderism.

The ‘broken windows’ strategy for combating Israel demonization

A culture self-destructs if its people choose not to defend it. Bad people get away with really bad stuff when everyone else chooses to look the other way. Op-ed.

(JNS) The “broken windows” theory of policing, which was responsible for a stunning drop in crime in New York in the 1990s, was based on a simple proposition. This was that bad people are encouraged to commit serious crimes if lesser social nuisances such as litter, vandalism or fare evasion are ignored.

This transmits the fatal signal that those in authority are giving a free pass to disorder. To stop serious offenses, there must be a consistent message that there will be zero tolerance for breaking any of the rules that keep a society civilized.

The “broken windows” theory might well also be applied to politics. The classicist and commentator Victor Davis Hansen has published a bone-chilling analysis of America that suggests it is inexorably going down to destruction.

Forget the Two State Solution Already!

By Steve Kramer

On May 18, the Jerusalem Post published an editorial entitled Israel cannot abandon the two state solution.”

I maintain that Israel must leave that tired so-called panacea behind.

The subtitle of the editorial is: It is time for Israel to strengthen its ties with moderate Palestinians [actually, Palestinian Arabs] and keep cooperating with pragmatic Israeli-Arabs. Unfortunately there are few pragmatic Israeli-Arabs. The Arab members of Knesset, even those from Ra’am, the one party supporting the current (teetering) government, don’t genuinely support a Zionist state. Mansour Abbas, Ra’am’s head, has periodically said that he recognizes Israel as a Jewish State and that,“It will stay like this.” He doesn’t mean it.

Europe’s descent to dhimmitude: A conversation with Bat Ye’or

T. Belman. I spent 2 days with Bat Ye’or and her husband 15 years ago when we attended a conference in Toronto. She is a very special lady. She is most famous as the author of Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis

“Between Islam, Woke and Ukraine, Europe is in danger of dhimmitude,” says the Egyptian-born UK,creator of the Eurabia concept. Op-ed

Bat Ye’Or expressed “realist” positions on the war in Ukraine. I talked to her about the war, Europe, Islam and Israel..

She inspired Oriana Fallaci and Michel Houellebecq mentioned her in his novels. As Le Monde recounts, Bat Ye’Or is the historian who imposed the theme of “dhimmitude”, the fate of Jewish and Christian minorities in the Islamic world. Bernard Heyberger, one of the most famous experts on Eastern Christians, Director of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, acknowledges in Le Monde that Bat Ye’or was “the first to draw attention to the phenomenon of dhimmis.”

Bat Ye’Or, you wrote that only one winner will emerge from this war: the Islamic Ummah. Because?

The BDS Movement Has Already Lost

Where it counts—in the halls of government and boardrooms—the effort to boycott Israel doesn’t even register.

By Steven A. Cook, FOREIGN POLICY and Eni Enrico Mattei ,  Council on Foreign Relations.

Last week, a suspected Israeli soldier shot and killed Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh while she was reporting on an Israeli military operation in the West Bank. A few days later, Israeli police attacked mourners at her funeral. A number of members of the U.S. Congress are now circulating a letter to their colleagues for signature demanding an FBI investigation into her killing.<
>

The episode is no doubt going to provide momentum for advocates of boycotting, divesting from, and sanctioning Israel, a movement known as BDS.

Eve of Destruction

By Ray DiLorenzo, STAND UP AMERICA

Klaus Schwab – World Economic Forum

As a writer, I am obligated to write what I see and interpret it through a reality prism, not a political one.  I have to travel the road given, not pave a new one to my liking,  especially now with so many crises coming together. There is so much at stake.  It is not an easy journey for we live in strange and evil times.

We are going to ask many questions.  The questions alone will leave traces as to their answers.

Russia’s Withdrawal From Syria Is an Opportunity for Israel

T. Belman. The fact that Russia “has redeployed some forces and hardware out of Syria” is hardly a game changer. Russia can’t afford to fight Israel in Syria because Israel would wipe them and their facilities out in a blink. Russia stands to lose in such a war. Besides its in Russia’s interested that Israel keep Iran at bay.

Israel will continue to intensify their activity as the need to do so intensifies.Israel now has the UAE and Saudi Arabia to back them up.

Why Would Russia Fire A ‘Syrian’ S-300 Missile At Israeli Jets?

By Jacob Nagel and Jonathan Schanzer, FDD

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz revealed details about the largest Israel Defense Force (IDF) drill in recent years last week. The drill included simulated airstrikes on Iran and a simulated multi-front war against Iran-backed proxies in Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza. The message was unmistakable: The Israeli government is weighing its military options, and the military is readying for whatever the government decides. Iran should be worried.
