PR campaigns work

By Ted Belman

Noam Shalit retained a PR firm to organize a campaign to bring his son home. Israel Hayom tells the story. It makes for interesting reading. It tells us how Israelis were manipulated.

It reminds me of how successful the Women in Black were in getting Israel to pull our of Lebanon. Or how successful Ruder Finn was in painting the Serbs as the Nazis and the Muslims as the victims.

But most of all it reminds me of how successful the PA has been in deligitimating and deamonizing Israel. The resources it and its friends in the Arab world invest in propaganda and media manipulation are enormous.

Many activists on the right have been calling for years for the Israel Government to take a miniscule portion of the defense budget and devote it to a sustained PR campaign. So far without success.

  1. The Arabs will never make peace with Israel. Their goal to wipe Israel off the map is genuine. It has been consistent for a century. The only side that has caved in on its principles has been Israel. No deal Israel could ever offer would be good enough to satisfy the Arabs.

  2. The PA doesn’t have a pot to piss in. PR or lack thereof is not the problem. The PR battle is over, and Israel has lost. Israel has two options – cut a deal, or keep building settlements hoping a Romney administration looks the other way. Even if Obama is re-elected – he’ll do nothing.
