The rules of war need to change

By Dan Margilit, ISRAEL HAYOM

It was clear from the very beginning that the cruelest most terrible terror organization since the Khmer Rouge would not fold in the face of a flimsy, ill-timed attack by a few American, British and French jets. The possible addition of Australia, Canada and some Arab states — it is not yet clear where Turkey stands — to the coalition will not scare them either. On the contrary — Islamic State group draws its power from its image of extremist outlaws who will never compromise. At this point, refusing to surrender, the Islamic State group had no choice but to decapitate another innocent British national — Alan Henning — who only wanted to do good in this world.

The same fate awaits the next Westerner in line — an American by the name of Peter Kassig, who even converted to Islam to try to save his own life. But the murderers will not let up. Jihadi John is already sharpening his knife.

All this is happening because Islamic State is not an organization that can be defeated with slow, uncertain, limited action. It cannot be defeated without “boots on the ground.” It is imperative to hit them with force; with waves of growing intensity. They must be attacked continuously, without breaks, without cease-fires and with the utmost determination.

The day of Yom Kippur, regardless of the Jewish holiday, was a turning point in the war against Islamic State. They were bombed, yet immediately resumed decapitating prisoners. The reality has become one of walking on the edge; of all or nothing-style fighting. There can be no compromise; there can be no cease-fire. You are either with us or against us.

The enlightened world must pummel Islamic State into a pulp. This cancer needs to be excised, leaving no metastases behind. If the world is soft, the way most greasy, petit-bourgeois masses tend to be, it will soon learn that these horrifying decapitations are in fact prompting thousands of new volunteers to join the ranks of Islamic State. A toothless war will come back to bite us like a boomerang. It will weaken the good guys.

It will not be an easy victory. In the West, there are those who are afraid and who prefer to shut their eyes tight as part of a head-in-the-sand policy. There are those who are truly indifferent. There are bleeding hearts who find partial justification for the Islamist decapitations. One of them wrote an article blaming the Western violence for the rise of Islamic State. Others, at the U.N. of course, wondered whether bombing Islamic State targets would be in line with international law, or whether it could be a violation of Syrian sovereignty.

The hypocrisy is still benefiting the terrorists’ side. In our regional conflict, Hamas fires rockets indiscriminately at Jewish populations without prior warning, and the IDF, before retaliating (with much more force, granted), warns every Gazan to leave their homes to avoid getting hurt. Who gets blamed by the U.N.? Of course it is Israel, which warns the enemy, and not Hamas which fires in every civilian direction.

If, however, the familiar indifference doesn’t trip up the West, Islamic State will be vanquished and forever disgraced. Furthermore, the rules of war and international law will be amended in order to allow democracies to effectively defend themselves. The existing rules are good for guiding conflicts between enlightened nations. But these days, with Islamic State and its ilk dominating the scene, the enlightened world will have to allow itself to fight in a more resolute, effective manner if it doesn’t want to be defeated by Islamic terror.

At the end of the tunnel, a significant overhaul of the rules of war awaits.

    Needles??? eh.

Never been afraid of needles, my Father was a type 1 brittle diabetic, needles always in my life. TX is on blood thinners too. He bleeds and bruises easily so I must he careful not to injure him. Ha ha

  3. @ honeybee:

That’s another reason I didn’t go through with surgery. I would prefer to restrict my activities than to endure such pain and danger. I too suffer from clotting but mine is autoimmune syndrome diagnosed ten years ago I am on blood thinners till I croak. Requires blood test ever week to ten days to regulate dosages. Needles??? eh. 🙂

Thanks for the reminder Yamit but I am not concerned about that.

I can only speak for myself. There are reasons why my return has been delayed. After 2000 years of exile….it takes time….

One of the reasons is that I got a call a midnite last Spring that there was a 3 year old and her mother in distress – they have Jewish roots. The father had disappeared and the mother was ill and could not care for her child. I was asked by authorities to be a temporary foster parent for this child. No one else was willing or able…. You have to pass all the screening tests.

    That’s just ONE reason Yamit……

A type personality ??????????? I like that. TX has both knees replaced, they bone on bone. His knee gave way at a Quinsienera, he fell on a table of guests and nearly killed them. Mexicans are small people. Second replacement nearly killed him, blood clots, infection.

    What happened to my angel??

Oy, I painted my poor Angel with a cooked arm, had to cover it with her wind. She is very bustu so she large wing to carry her off.

I don’t believe we are all being called yet to return to our homeland. If Canada and the U.S. were to lose it’s Jewish soul what would happen? We know what would happen.

“Do not put the LORD your God to the test as you did at Massah.” Deu. 6:16

The exile was supposed to be a punishment for the Jews not a comfortable replacement for The Land of Israel.

If your-rabbis or other Jews pose such argument they are but excuses for not leaving the Golden exile. That is not a Jewish concept nor a torah concept.

  8. @ bernard ross:

Hi bernard. Not sure which thread you and yamit were discussing returning to our homeland…. when I get a full page of comments I just delete them….but if I could add in my two cents worth on the subject.

I don’t believe we are all being called yet to return to our homeland. If Canada and the U.S. were to lose it’s Jewish soul what would happen? We know what would happen.

Are you coming to need knee surgery, that can be arduous and painful. Try elevating you leg.

Don’t think I’ll go the surgery route a few years ago I considered it and the doctors said that there would be no guarantee of a complete success and there would be a good chance of arthritis later in life. My big sacrifice was I would have to give up tennis intramural basketball and marathon races. So I didn’t have the operation and put on 20 pounds. 😉

She doesn’t come when you call??? Women need training. I am paint a dress on my poor naked Angel.

Usually she does but in the dark I saw her put something in her mouth off the grass and couldn’t see what it was. When I called to her she took off with me chasing that’s when I fell. I’m laying flat on my back and she comes up to me as if nothing happened and began to lick my face. What’s a guy going to do? Keep on loving her. She’s now part of me.

    What happened to my angel??

I fell in a rut at night chasing after Dag.

  11. honeybee Said:

What did you do to your leg???

I fell in a rut at night chasing after Dag. My left knee gave out from an old football injury a Meniscus Tear In Knee.

That the same leg I have some shrapnel bit in. The leg from above the knee to my ankle swelled like a balloon and is quite painful especially when I stand not to mention trying to walk. Leg is strapped so it’s immobile at the knee . Don’t feel much pain while sitting or lying down and the swelling is almost down to normal but it very tender to bend and to the touch. Nothing broken and it’s healing every day and I hope to be back to relative normalcy in a week to 10 days. Jacuzzi helps.

I haven’t driven an automtic since I drove my sisters car last time I was in Dallas. I keep looking for the clutch with my foot???? Reflex from habit. In Israel most cars are stick.
a few months ago I came home about 4pm went to get some ice and everything had melted. My fridge and freezer were stocked full. What to do at that hour? I checked out the fridge and based on experience the probably was a 10-20 dollar capacitor malfunction but I didn’t have one and could find no repairman at that time of day and my service company said I would have to wait a week.

I called up the local appliance dealer and told him to send me a new fridge whatever he had in stock. In an hour I had a replacement and saved all my food.

Moral of the story there is always a way to get a new fridge.

  12. yamit82 Said:

    Yup great minds

I could only wish, still no new frig. or truck. What did you do to your leg??? Stick shift, that was my college car. I literally drove it to death , my Father never forgave me.

  13. yamit82 Said:

I have a theory or maybe more of a suspicion that the Fed is pumping money in to the stock market to keep it moving upwards and or not allowing it to crash

    You and TX, great minds.

  14. @ mar55:

I have a theory or maybe more of a suspicion that the Fed is pumping money in to the stock market to keep it moving upwards and or not allowing it to crash. The economic data does not support such a Bear Market but with artificial % rates pegged near 0, there is not many reasonable alternatives unless you go into metals as I have done….

While you can’t eat gold you can always count on it in a crisis. It’s real. I don’t buy the paper but buy contracts and take delivery.

  15. @ honeybee:

I understand since it was 04:45 My time I couldn’t complain too much.

Had to get up early and do shopping which is also a challenge
right now because my car is a stick and I can’t bend my leg to clutch yet so I took a cab and had them deliver.

All stores and shopping markets close here about 3pm for Shabbat until Sun AM. I sometimes avoid the hassle on Fri and shop on Thurs but this year was a holiday….

Btw Ted sent what I asked from him. Who goes first You or

    Me? 😉

  16. @ yamit82:
It is not only a correction. You cannot believe any of the figures that the Federal Government publicizes. Inflation is very high. The Fed keeps saying that there is no inflation. Some big players are very stubborn and do not like gold. Not divesting this year is going to cost a lot of people. You are right. The crash could happen any time now and, many of those who think they know better would not be able to make the correction before it happens. Divesting and keeping your assets as liquid as possible is important in this type of economy.

  17. @ mar55:

Everybody know the market is due for a major correction if not major crash. Timing is everythin and since no one can time the maarket the big player have long since divested their portfolios . Reported that our Fried Soros has cut and exited several months ago. The suckers will be the last ones in and the ones who know but believe they can time the crash and escape unscathed. They can’t and they won’t.

The fed has been pumping trillions since 2008. Can’t continue.

  18. @ yamit82:
About three weeks ago discussing the market with someone I know I suggested to put at least half of his fortune in gold. I predicted a market crash. He dismissed the advise since he was still doing well in the market. I knew it.
Another miracle. G-d is working to protect Israel and His people again.

  19. @ honeybee:

Laura post a lot on Atlas Shrugged.

I used to but Teds site has spoiled me.

For awhile I teamed up with some friends and went on Huffington to Bash the anti Israel crowd. I got bored after awhile. They are pretty stupid. I really can’t stand them.

Thank you yammit82. That it was part of the movie “The great Caruso”. Thank you. Mario Lanza was a great entertainer. Hollywood’s product. Nice time the fifties.
Thank you for your wishes. Once I get home I do not need to cheer up. Nothing like home to feel great. Couple of Doctor’s appointments already and tomorrow I’ll finish doing what I have to do.
BTW your Spanish is very good. Do not worry about the tenses too much. It is the last thing you really perfect.
The hardest in any language to perfect is: the prepositions.
Little by little. After so many years I make a lot of mistakes with the tenses. Be well and enjoy your learning.

  25. Of course they should but the police the IDF and the GOI are
wetting their pants in fear of a new intifada. This time it won’t be the same as the last but the last took 5 years to put down. The negative PR and threats of taking Israel to ICC has them hold off not to mention allowing any excuse to divrrt or redirect attention from Iran.

I’m not saying I agree with em but that’s their mind set.

Right now the economy is getting weaker because primarily Europe and America are experiencing slow growth or worse. Nobody wants to do anything unnecessary at this time to effect the economy negatively.

    A matter of timing….

  28. @ mar55:

Think of Islam as Communism with a god (small g). Islam is mostly a fascist political ideology whose main goal is a one world government under one law Sharia. They will use brutal violence to that end or if weak by stealth. Understand Militant Islam lay dormant for centuries.

Note well and bear in mind: the concept and urge to jihad was re-ignited after a long slumber by the British after WW I. Initially this was a Round Table project to enable them to, 1) arrange a British Protectorate in the Middle East “with its front door on the Mediterannean,” 2) keep Russia away from the southern oceans and the natural resources of the area, and last but not least, 3) to suppress and cripple the rise of a sovereign Jewish nation, the only genuine nation within the collapsed Ottoman Empire which could be a source of regional prosperity, independence from great power machinations and a shock to the entire identity project of the West which it posits itself as the inheritor of Scriptural promise; which in various forms proclaims itself to be ‘the true Israel.” The West, Edom, is based on mass identity theft & fraud. This generates extreme dynamism, instability, aggression and self-destruction as the culture strains to maintain its false image, its identity fraud. http://israelendtimes.com/blog/2012/08/30/the-true-clash-of-civilizations.htm#more-370

    Question:

Who’s arming the Palestinian Arabs? Who’s helping Iran build its Jewkiller nukes? Sure, it would be comforting to believe the christians now love us, but seriously, scratch the surface and you’ll find the past isn’t so distant. Why do Americans obsess about Goldman Sachs’ corruption when Citigroup and JP Morgan are just as crooked? Why do Russian spies skate and Pollard rots? The economy is about to go deeply into the toilet, and that traditionally is the time when christians remember how much they hate Jews. It isn’t either or.

The christians represent a threat to Jews, the Muslims represent a more imminent threat.

  29. @ WB:
    @ yamit82:
I agree with the comment of “how can we defeat the enemy abiding by rules that the enemy does not recognize”.
yamit82 your comment of “A nation who will not identify the enemy cannot defeat them”.
We are living in a period in history where people are not identifying the evil threatening our families, our values, identity and traditions. Our government and media have ignored the duty to inform the American people. Trying to prevent us from being ready when the time comes to fight this monstrosity that is Islam. Europe has already sold their souls to the Islamic groups who have taken over their countries. We must disseminate the information through the internet. Many religious leaders are are completely in limbo and not informing their congregations.
Their thinking is “If I’m nice to you, you will be nice to me”. In Germany the religious leaders did not believed that a group of fanatic could destroy and burn their church. The same as the Catholics in Massachusetts.
What is our media waiting for to unmask the danger that is Islam? We are doomed unless these idiots wake up to the reality that is Islam and its fanatic followers.
It is not a religion based on values and goodness. It is a totalitarian system of government. All nations need to wake up.
