    What is missing here is the use that money is put to. The only way to encourage the professors and teacher and all the other educational types is to make sure that they have an interest in supporting the cause. The easiest way is by greasing palms and that will certainly gain traction in every school. Working with institutes of education that offer courses and research positions in “interesting” subjects makes sure that those same greedy greased palms pass on all useful information to their paymasters.

    In large measure, this is because the West can’t understand Islamic religious fanaticism. It assumes that everyone in the world is, like itself, governed by self-interest.

    This has little to do with Islamic religious fanaticism and more to do with greed, plain and simple. If the heads of educational institutes can get what they want by following the text, they’ll do so.

    We need a better explanation than that from the master of the Art of the Deal. Erdogan must have been offered something useful. Even he knows that Trump, while quite a wizard, cannot break the law even by executive order. He must get congress to approve. This leaves us with the situation that Erdogan still hopes, for some religious reason, that he can provoke Israel into attacking Turkiye so that he can call on NATO to defend him.
