Peloni: The first 4mins of this Ukrainian news video provides an fair estimate of recent events including Trump’s renewed call for Zelensky to finally face election, and Zelensky calling for US security assurances. What is interesting in the conversation which follows from the talking heads is that they appear to be afraid of nothing so much as new elections, claiming that it will provide Russia the opportunity to install a “fifth column” govt. The pro-war faction in Ukraine does indeed have much to be concerned about, but with Ukraine being Ukraine, well, elections should be expected to be highly influenced by those who count the votes.

Trump is a tough guy when its easy such as throwing his weight around against Maduro or Zelensky, but is a pussy when it comes to Putin, Xi, Turkey and Qatar.
How about demanding elections in Russia. Putin has been in power for 25 years but that’s never an issue for the Russia apologists and Ukraine bashers.

The US isn’t funding Russia’s entire govt and most of its war effort. In fact, the US has been responsible for the outbreak of war going back a decade. Why do you think that Russia would be interested in US demands? They wouldn’t, because they are paying for their own war effort, and their economy, even after the US stole their gold reserves, for which they have China to thank for helping them compensate.
They just had an election about 18 months ago, which beats going on 7yrs in Ukraine. What is the problem with Ukraine holding elections? It is as if the whole world will collapse if Zel has to demonstrate his legitimacy even to his own people? It is a very curious thing that anyone claiming to be defending democracy would be so bold as to have the impudence to ignore democratic norms indefinitely.
