Trump lauds ‘very smart’ Erdogan for ‘taking over’ Syria, says he’ll fix Israel’s ‘problem’ with Turkey

Janet Levy:  Trump is so misguided and uninformed about Turkey’s interference in Syria!

He “admires” Erdogan and thinks he can mediate the situation between Jerusalem and Ankara even though the Turkish leader recently called for the destruction of Israel in a Ramadan prayer.

Doesn’t Trump realize that Erdogan wants to establish a caliphate under shariah?

Recall that the Ottoman Turks perpetrated the largest Christian genocide in history!

Some history on Erdogan:

In 2007 on Turkish television, Erdogan admonished Westerners’ use of the term “moderate Islam,” by declaring, “These descriptions are very ugly, it is offensive and an insult to our religion. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam. Islam is Islam and that’s it.”

Since 2002, the Turkish government has been pursuing a version of Islam closely aligned with the Wahhabi extremist Islam of the Saudis.
While Major of Istanbul, Erdogan avowed, “Thank God Almighty, I am a servant of the Shariah.”

His AKP party is closely tied to the Muslim Brotherhood whose former spiritual leader — the late Yusuf al-Qaradawi — called for Islamic domination of Europe.

Trump must be disabused of his dangerous view of Turkey as a potential partner in ANY endeavor!

US President Donald Trump addressed Israeli concerns over Turkey’s presence in Syria, saying that he would be able to “work something out” between Israel and Turkey, should both sides make “reasonable demands.”

Speaking at a press conference shortly after meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday at the White House, Trump stressed his strong relationship with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Referring to Erdogan as “very smart,” Trump said he had phoned the Turkish leader after Islamist groups, backed by Ankara, successfully ousted Syrian president Bashar al-Assad from power in November 2024.

“I said, ‘Congratulations, you’ve done what nobody’s been able to do in 2,000 years. You’ve taken over Syria.’ With different names, but the same thing,” Trump recounted.

“I told [Netanyahu]… ‘Bibi, if you have a problem with Turkey, I really think I’m going to be able to work it out,’” he continued.

“You know, I have a very, very good relationship with Turkey and with their leader, and I think we’ll be able to work it out,” he added.

“As long as you are reasonable. You have to be reasonable.”

Israel has carried out regular bombing campaigns against Iranian assets in Syria for years, and is concerned that a Turkish military buildup in the country could limit the IAF’s activities in the country.

In recent years, Erdogan has spouted increasingly unhinged anti-Israel rhetoric, including calling Netanyahu a “child-killing vampire.”

Erdogan also called for Allah to destroy Israel in a public Ramadan prayer last month.

At the conference, Netanyahu praised Trump’s offer to mediate between Israel and Turkey regarding Syria.

“We’ve had neighborly relations with Turkey that have deteriorated, and we don’t want to see Syria being used by anyone, including Turkey, as a base for attack in Israel,” Netanyahu said.

“We discussed how we can avoid this conflict in a variety of ways, and I think we can’t have a better interlocutor than the president of the United States for this purpose,” he added

  1. I’m an ardent admirer of Trump but I agree with leonkushner and Laura that what he said openly was to say the least, unnecessary.

On the other hand (from Laura’s site) what Carlson-the-Jew-Hater said may have some merit… Let the US take care of all the problems it has (eg Fentanyl), and at the same time let Israel take care of Carlson’s fellow Jew-haters in Iran (and Turkey) in its own manner… and sooner than later.

  2. You know that I’m Trump’s biggest fan. But he often says nonsensical things that can be dangerous. I understand why he says them. He often doesn’t even believe what he says. But he makes those statements in order to drive his agenda. What he’s missing is that the world hears his comments and takes them at face value, as they should. They were made in public. Erdogan must be removed asap! Calling him smart or in any way flattering him does no one any good. Letting Turkey claim Syria is not only no better than the now defunct Assad regime, it’s worse! Erdogan commands a very large and well armed military that’s part of NATO. Syria’s military was nothing without Iran’s help. We know where Erdogan stands with Israel. His administration is identical to that of Iran’s. They both want a shariah compliant world with them in charge and of course they want Israel destroyed.

Trump should confront Erdogan in private and spell it out for him. “Back down, shut up, get out of Syria or else I’ll sanction your country to death. You’ll be kicked out of NATO too. You’ll be totally isolated and you will fall as a leader. ”

The population of both Iran and Turkey resemble each other. THey are comprised of a vile, Islamonazi leadership but most of the population are secular and want to live peaceful, productive lives. Many are well educated.

The world would be so better off if there were regime changes in both states.

Of course Bibi says the right things in public. But I do hope that in private he tells Trump the real story about Erdogan and dangerous Turkey.
