Isn’t it amazing Mamdani failed to get into Columbia even though he graduated from the prestigious Bronx High School of Science AND HIS FATHER IS A PROFESSOR THERE? Probably because he claimed to be African-American on the application. *
Unless, they took it out which I doubt, there is a question on the application: “Do you have any Columbia-affiliated family members?”
I got in after filling that out though I don’t think my grades warranted it. I dropped out after a couple of semesters even though I was doing well because I hated it, about the same time Obama went there in the early ’80s. Finished much later at City College Magna Cum Laude in History with a minor in Labor Studies – I was a prize-winning student, one of the stars of the History Dept., – and then, disgusted with politics, switched back to music.
My grandfather graduated from Columbia College class of 1910, and Columbia Law School, class of 1913, My uncle was a professor there throughout the ’60s, and my mother taught a course there as an adjunct in the ’80s. I didn’t lie.
I didn’t even know that my grandmother’s first cousin also graduated from Columbia College and Columbia Law School when I filled it out.

* I’m reminded of Yohay Sponder’s hilarious bit, “This I Can Do.”
Also, I live on the edge of Harlem, and I can tell you that since Mayor Adams is in office, I have felt an unprecedented friendliness and courtesy from total strangers. I see Jews walking around with kippas on, unafraid.
Too late to remove anyone from the ballot. 46 percent of Jews support Adams. Even with just Cuomo, Mamdani is a shoo-in unless polls change in November, assuming their accuracy. Adams is the only pro-Israel candidate. All of the others are calling for ceasefire. Might as well vote my conscience.
NYC mayor says he ‘will not succumb’ to pressure to back ceasefire
This is surreal.
Government experience resume for NYC mayor in 2025:
Eric Leroy Adams (born September 1, 1960) is an American politician and former police officer who has served since 2022 as the 110th mayor of New York City. Adams was an officer in the New York City Transit Police and then the New York City Police Department (NYPD) for more than 20 years, retiring at the rank of captain. He served in the New York State Senate from 2006 to 2013, representing the 20th district in Brooklyn. In 2013, Adams became the first black American to be elected Brooklyn Borough President; he was re-elected in 2017.

Curtis Sliwa: None
Andrew Cuomo: State Governor who resigned in disgrace.
Zohran Mamdani: None. recently naturalized antisemitic terrorist sympathizer.
Highest to lowest popularity in polls From bottom up
Cuomo told Bloomberg that he would not use the IHRA definition if elected mayor. …Mayor Eric Adams officially implemented the definition via executive order in June 2025…As of September 2025, there is no public record of Curtis Sliwa stating whether he supports the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism.
@Adam D. I agree but Curtis supporters will still need to fill out 4 choices in order of preference because New York has ranked choice voting now and the votes of the candidates you picked who are eliminated go to the next one on your list, they are redistributed. That’s how Mamdanit won. Cross-endorsements. Most Cuomo voters just voted for Cuomo. Any candidate who fails to get 50 percent in a round is eliminated. It’s a different system now. Cuomo voters tended to be older so voted as if the old system is in place. I think this is only the second ranked choiice election.
My endorsements;
1. Curtis Sliwa
2. Eric Adams
3. Jim Walden
4. Andrew Cuomo
You get 5 choices but the 5th would be Mamdani.
Mamdani ran an “Anybody but Cuomo” campaign.
Pro-Israel voters must reciiprocate in the general election and vote: “Anybody but Mamdani” to win.
As a New Yorker myself, I have to say I think Eric Adams is a terrific mayor and certainly the only one with any relevant experience but I like Curtis Sliwa’s platform bettter. Adams is the Trump candidate though Sliwa is also on the same page despite belonging to the non-Trump wing of the Republican party. He is endorsed by every Republican chapter in New York.
Originially a Republican, Mayor Eric Adams was a state legislator. borough president of Brooklyn and a police captain! The only one of the other candidates with any political or executive experience is Cuomo who was Governor and had a couple minor state wide positions before that.
Mayor Adams also founded “One Hundred Men in Law Enforcement,” an organization of black police officers that lobbied to correct civil rights violations by police. He had been a victim of that, he said, when he was young. Black voters did not turn out for Mamdani. It was mostly white educated, well-heeled, young people.
Mamdani is really popular in his district – he’s a state assemblyman – of traditionally Greek Astoria, amazingly. But, apparently it now has a big “Middle Eastern” population.

@Sebastien
I feared this outcome from the beginning. This will be a sizeable defeat for the US, the West and the Jews. Unbelievably so.

Just finished it. He’s great but he doesn’t understand about ranked choice voting. Uniting behind one candidate won’t cut it. See my other comment.

Absoluely right! Eric Adams says he will save NY from Mamdana as an independent candidate. But I think Curtis is a much better bet.

Today is Thursday. Tuesday night, the Marxist/Jihadist won the Democrat primary.
Curtis has gotta win in the general election!
