Will Trump Oppose Israeli Land Reform?

Peloni:  Trump has repeatedly asserted that he will oppose the ‘annexation’ of the ‘West Bank’.  Israel has never expressed interest in annexing it’s own land, and Judea and Samaria are Israeli lands which have simply awaited the extension of Israeli law in these lands.  Hence, the double pejorative included in the rhetoric expressed in previous statements by Trump lack a clear bearing on the question of whether Jews should be precluded in buying land in the Jewish heartlands of Judea and Samaria simply because they are Jews.  Is the most pro-Israel President in history about to tell Jews that they can not buy land in Israel because they are Jews?  The land reform approved yesterday by the Security cabinet has nothing to do with annexing anything.  It simply has to do with ending antisemitic doctrines which have been left enforced in the Jewish state for decades.  Notably, among other relevant acts, Trump led the way for Jews and African Americans to join private nightclubs in exclusive Palm Beach, Fl.  Recognizing this important role which Trump played in fighting for Jewish rights, something which he has been quite proud of referencing, will he now allow himself to be manipulated into fighting to restrict the rights of Jews from purchasing land parcels inside the Jewish state?  I think the clarity of this context will be distasteful to Trump and his base.  So we will see how far will Trump go to satisfy his Arab ‘partners’.

  1. FRENCH COURT RULING AFFIRMS LEGALITY OF ISRAELI OCCUPATION

    Virtually all international media has ignored recent news from France, where a court issued a ruling related, among other things, to the legality of Israel’s occupation. As noted in a March 13, 2013 article published by the French media outlet Dreuz, the Versailles Court of Appeal ruled that the Israeli occupation of the territories claimed by the Palestinians is in fact legal.

    The judicial decision put an end to a long process initiated by the French-Palestinian Solidarity Association (ASPF) and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) represented by Mahmoud Abbas.

    Also, in February 2007, both the ASPF and the PLO denounced the French companies Veolia Transport and Alstom Transport SA for building the Jerusalem tram that runs through the Eastern part of the city, which the Palestinians claim as theirs. Regarding the occupation, the PLO and ASPF appealed using existing articles from the Geneva Convention and both The Hague Conventions of 1907 and 1954. But the Court of Versailles specifies that those articles are not applicable. Firstly, these agreements apply to States, and neither the Palestinian Authority nor the PLO are such. Secondly, both Convention articles refer to “High Contracting Parties”, and neither the PLO nor the PA ever signed those Conventions.

    As for the transport companies, the French court – which does allow for appeals – ruled that Israel has the right to build in the occupied territories. Article 43 of the Fourth Hague Convention of 1907 specifies that “the authority of the legitimate power having in fact passed into the hands of the occupant, the latter shall take all the measures in his power to restore, and ensure, as far as possible, public order and safety, while respecting, unless absolutely prevented, the laws in force in the country.” The Court fined the AFPS and the OLP 30,000 Euros payable each to Alstom, Alstom Transport and Veolia Transport.

    It is interesting to note the mainstream media’s willingness to report promptly when it comes to Tribunals that condemn Israel or when proven Israel detractors accuse the Jewish State of legal violations. However, when a legal court rules in favor of Israel, abiding by International Law rather than personal opinion, the media silence is quite staggering. It seems there’s no room for facts, just for opinions and mere assumptions.

  2. Israel will be damned one way or the other so take over Yesha (Shomron and Yehuda) and be done with it.

    To the victor go the spoils. That logic is actually in the Koran as well.

  5. Of course Judea and Samaria belong to Israel. After significant arm-twisting, Arafat was allowed to bring back his Fatah friends to Ramallah where they still reside today. That was a huge mistake we are all sorry for.

    On the other side of this argument is the issue of “international law” which many countries, especially the UK love to throw around like confetti. If they were to apply the existing laws rather than their on-the-fly invented laws, they would have to concede that the land they call the West Bank is Israel’s property.

    It is a shame that people like Trump find it difficult to express themselves clearly rather than this nonsense about not annexing the West Bank. In his statement, it doesn’t tell us who would be doing the annexation, nor does he mention who the real estate belongs to. Maybe that is the problem! He is a real estate guy and he would like to work on it too and require contributions from all around to get it paid for. Something like the Gaza Strip.
