Mort Klein on the stump for Israel

Dear Ted,

It was a great pleasure and honor to speak with you today! Thank you so much for offering to print additional materials for us!

Kevin Ross, the young dynamic co-president of ZOA’s Philadelphia chapter, just wrote and sent to me the below interesting article about Mort Klein’s speech Monday night to Temple University students and faculty. While his opponent is continuing to sling mud at Mort, Mort amazingly still has the presence of mind to run around the country, eloquently and persuasively speaking up on behalf of Israel, against the Kerry/Obama PA-israeli negotiating framework, and against the dangerous Iran deal, etc.

Could I trouble you to print Kevin’s article on your site?

Best regards,
Liz

ZOA President Mort Klein delivered a powerful presentation at the Temple University Hillel on Monday night, Feb. 24th to a crowd of over 150 students, faculty, and lay leaders. In typical fashion, Mort did not disappoint. His compelling presentation touched upon the pervasive incitement in the Palestinian Arab community and the incontrovertible raw data that clearly shows that Israel, at this point in time, has no peace partner. Mort dispelled the myths pertaining to Jerusalem (including that there is no historical significance to Jerusalem in Arab religious sources), “settlements”, “occupation”, the reality of the refugee situation, etc.

There were also a few leaders from anti-Israel organizations as well that showed up to hear Mort speak. When Mort took questions from the audience, not one of these leaders dared to challenge anything that Mort said. One can only speculate why the lay leaders from these anti-Israel organizations did not challenge or disagree with anything Mort said. I suspect they don’t challenge him because they know he knows too much. They can’t get away with misinformation or propaganda with him in the room. They know that he’ll destroy their false and feeble arguments and they will just look foolish.

Mort Klein is one of the most compelling and effective pro-Israel speakers today for many reasons. He knows the hard data inside and out and he backs up his assertions with hard data as opposed to the propaganda groups that typically employ rhetoric that can’t be quantified or supported. Another reason is his incredible confidence in his knowledge. He stood at the lectern and welcomed anyone in the room to ask any question they wanted or to challenge anything he said. Students asked questions but none of the anti-Israel lay leaders challenged what Mort said. In my view, it was because they knew they couldn’t. There were others in the room that knew these anti-Israel representatives were there. Their silence spoke volumes about Mort’s effectiveness.

Kudos to Mort Klein for continuing to reach out to college campuses and bringing much needed sunlight to places where Israel is all too often demonized and delegitimized with propaganda and misinformation.

Sincerely,
Kevin Ross

  1. ZOA badly needs a new head. We American Zionists are pathetic. There is NO counter in the US to the stealth destroy Israel policies of ADL, AJC, Federation, JCPA – least of all to counter the open Israel hatred of J St. Federation takes money to “defend” Israel and does nothing. If ZOA had 100,000 members, which it could easily have it if went to its “natural constituency” like Young Israel’s and Chabad’s (I learned that term from AIPAC) ZOA would have long ago been a 100,000 member organization.

Mort’s big donors, successful business people all, would have long fired any company employee with such a record of failure. Mort should have long ago been kicked upstairs to write his excellent, articles, editorials and op-eds and to continue to schmooze up the big donors that love him. The rest of the running and GROWING ZOA needed to be put in the hands of an organization builder.
