The Simple Truth: Jordan did not gain independence in 1946. It officially and legally remained part of the British Mandate for Palestine until the morning the Mandate ended on 15 May 1948. All Mandate laws and international conventions applied to it as part of the British Mandate for Palestine until the British departure, not as the regime claims that a “kingdom was established” in 1946.

Even after that, Jordan had neither an independent currency nor a sovereign passport. For a period, it used the Palestinian pound and Palestinian passport. The alleged independence was nothing more than an illusion and a seizure of land and people. This explains the continuing Hashemite policy of distinguishing between “Jordanian” and “Palestinian”; otherwise, there would be no basis for the existence of these so-called outsiders. International recognition was also delayed until 1955, when the United Nations admitted Jordan as a state.

Jordanians and Palestinians are the same people West and East of the river, no matter how much the regime may dislike it or try to obscure it… and woe to the Hashemite and their tools who spread hatred and discord between our people…

  1. Congratulations on putting up the Mandate map of Jordan that the British drew with Iraq – where they were also The Mandatory in 1920 – 27 and with Saudi which they connived at Abdul Azziz ibn Saud creating by driving out the Al Rauf from what is now the Eastern (NE) province and conquering the Hejaz – the Western strip of the Arabian Peninsula.
Pre- 1967 Nasser and all Arabs rejected any frontier amendments of “Palestine” in the name of the permanency of Arab frontiers – excuse me while I suppress my laughter. Then in 1965 -66 Jordan and Saudi created the present frontier by moving the old frontier South. They also amended the Iraqi frontier and in the 1990’s added the square notches in the South section of the Iraqi – Jordan frontier to allow for the locals to use the waterholes with less aggro.
It is a useful exercise to go to a library with a stock of big atlases, Find an edition from the 30’s to 50’s inclusve and trace the map of Jordan. Then find a 70’s edition or since and trace the Jordan Eastern frontiers onto it. Colour in red the areas Jordan gave and in green the areas Jordan received.
Do likewise with the map of Israel and Syria’s frontier area. NB how the 1949 armistice line that the Palestine lobby swear blind is the international frontier actually runs WEST of it and the Syrians at the North end built forts on the Palestine side of the 1923 international frontier convention at: Burj Bravil, Tel Azzaziat and Tel Fakhr – Just lay off the fourth form / grade ten mispronunciation.
