Sbarro Pizzaria Bombing. Screengrab via Youtube.
The regime of previously forcibly Arabized and Islamized genocidal maniacs, which you seem to be defending with your accusations against America, has—for almost half century—been responsible, either by itself or via Sunni Arab proxies, for launching a continuous campaign of death, terrorism, and destruction against peaceful neighbors.
It’s Arab butcher buddies have, long before committing the mass atrocities of October 7th which DELIBERATELY slaughtered the equivalent of 40,000 American civilians, stooped to the level (in just one of many examples) of constructing a museum, complete with plastic models of Jewish body parts hanging from rafters, commemorating the August 9, 3001 Sbarro Pizzerria bombing in Jerusalem…just a month shy of another Arab Sunni jihadi mass slaughter on 9/11/2001, which killed about 3,000 and wounded and maimed many more people in America itself.
and,
The mullahs, with endless supply of oil revenues (special thanks to their Obama and Biden buddies for having enabled this bloodlust by supporting their Arab proxies with oodles of cash, arms, training, and so forth), were able to hold much higher of the world hostage to their outrages.
Given this fact, there is absolutely no doubt who the aggressor has been in this current round of Spring 2026 fighting for which the NYTimes editorial team apparently has chosen to accuse the United States of war crimes for.
Turning the tables and placing blame on America (and Israel, of course and as usual) is not only absurd but shameful.
That an Israel—which can fit twice into America’s Lake Michigan—has been the Arabized (from the 7h century C.E. onwards) Aryan Iranian regime and its like-minded jihadi Arab marionettes’s main target is also something, whether the rest of the world cares or not, which also must be taken into account.
American “war crimes” ?
How about DELIBERATELY targeting civilians repeatedly over the past several decades with tens of thousands of rockets, incendiary weapons, missiles of all sizes, drones, repeated acts of terrorism, and lately using powerful ballistic missiles launching cluster bombs at apartment buildings and other civilian population centers?
War crimes, indeed, according to the Geneva Conventions on War—the Perfidy Clause in particular. Please refer to the virtual prequel to the renewed Gaza fighting next to find the specific articles of Geneva which pertain to all of this…
Where are the NYTimes’s accusations against the mullahs, Hamas, Hizbullah, the Houthis, and so forth for deliberately terrorizing and targeting civilians this way?
There are no half measures when dealing with an enemy which has openly declared—and has acted upon these threats repeatedly—that it wants both you and your nation obliterated.
With such a non-compromising, existential enemy, Israel or any other nation in its predicament has only one realistic option available:
After being bombarded with hundreds of powerful rockets, drones, and missiles since October 7th, causing numerous Israeli casualties and much destruction, Israel overdosed and decided that despite accusations by international hypocrites, who would have retaliated long ago themselves to such genocidal enemies with as much force that was necessary to put an end to this constant threat of annihilation (especially since Iran was fast approaching nuclear breakout point and Israel was labeled a “one bomb” nation due to its extremely vulnerable 9-15 mile wide ‘49 Auschwitz/armistice line existence) opted to try to put an end to this non-stop aggression once and for all, at least as best as possible.
Another point related to this must be made as well.
There is NO “moral equivalence” regarding Arab and Arabized/Islamized DELIBERATE targeting of Jewish and other Israeli innocents and Arab civilians who unfortunately are killed and victimized because their “heroes,” whom they freely elected some two decades ago, routinely commit atrocities, and then run back to immerse themselves within their own civilian population.
Refer to the 2nd link above for the relevant articles of the Geneva Conventions on War which deal with this outrage…
Regarding such hypocrites and practitioners of the double standard supreme, your own self-anointed font of all Middle Eastern knowledge, Tom Friedman exemplifies this nicely.
Here’s what happened to Tom a few yesrs ago on Yom Kippur 2024 when, by a stroke of chance luck, I happened to be attending the same synagogue that both he and his buddy, one of the architects of the infamous Oslo Peace (of the grave) Accords, Denis Ross, were delivering post religious service lectures for:
or…

It was wonderful to see him stutter and squirm as I exchanged ideas during the Q & A session.
Note that while duplicitous Friedman and others on your editorial staff routinely expect that an Israel which requires a magnifying glass to locate on a world globe endanger itself further to create a 22nd state for Arabism, and SECOND not first in the original 1920 Mandate of Palestine (Jordan formed in 1922 on some 80% of the total area), Friedman could only tell 41 million TRULY stateless Kurds—who were gassed to death and otherwise slaughtered to the figure of some 250,000 dead in Arab Iraq’s ANFAL Campaign and Arab Syria’s murderous activities as well…
“What part of ‘no’ don’t you understand? You must not separate (from their Arab butchers, even though a independent Kurdish state has been promised to them in part of the Mandate of Mesopotamia after WWI, but was aborted did to a collusion of Arab nationalism and British petroleum politics). See the sickening hypocrisy next…
And when Denis Ross, one of the key architects of the infamous Oslo Peace (of the grave) Accords tried to come to Tommy’s rescue after he sat down bewildered and simply asked me my name, it ckfired on Ross as well.
He defended Tom’s duplicitous hypocrisy by offering that the Kurds were virtually unknown and that the Fakestinians—er, those Arabs who after 1964 decided to rename themselves “Palestinians” instead solely to deny Jews, with 4,000 years of firmly corroborated ancestry in the land, any rights at all in what Arabs simply refer to as “purely Arab patrimony” inseparable from the rest of the conquered Dar ul-Islam.
Iudaean/Judaea fell to jihadi Arab hordes in the 7th century C.E. the same way Zoroastrian Aryan Persia, Hindu India, North African Amazigh/Kabyle lands, sub-Saharan Africa, Kurdistan, and numerous other places also did. Countless millions of non-Arab peoples were given the choice to convert or be slaughtered.
And this subjugating behavior persists to this very day as Boko Haram massacres black Africans, Syrian jihadis do likewise to Druze and assorted Christian communities, Kurds, and so forth.
My own doctoral work on this subject has been on Paris’s acclaimed Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) reference list since the early 1980s,”British Petroleum Politics, Arab Nationalism, and the Kurdish Struggle for Independence.”
Hence the current war with both the Puppet Master mullahs, who disdain Iran’s proud, pre-forcibly Arabized and Islamized past, and whom are mostly hated by the vast majority of Iran’s diverse peoples, is occurring today.
An interesting footnote to the above comments is that the American pilot recently rescued was found in Western Iran’s Khuzestan Province.
So many (9-10 million) Arabs live there that in previous centuries it was known as ARABISTAN instead.
These Ahwazi Arabs have been so oppressed that their very language and culture was up for being outlawed during certain periods of unrest—which were brutally put down—like what happened in other different ethnic areas as well, such as Iranian Kurdistan, in the highly populated Turkic Azeri areas, and so forth.
While the mullahs and most of the rest of the world insist that ARABISM deserves a 22nd state—while people like 41 million Kurds remain STATELESS—it doesn’t seem to dawn on anyone that that additional Arab state should perhaps be created in Arabistan/Khuzestan Province…
This is especially so since 1922, a state for ARABISM was lopped off of the original 1920 Mandate of Palestine to create today’s Jordan, on roughly 80 % of the total area, and in centuries past, this oil rich area, which Saddam Hussein invaded Iran in the 1980s to reclaim for Arabism and his own country, had been ruled by a powerful Arab sheikh.

Prior to the current hostilities, America pressured Israel repeatedly, especially before President Trump, but during his administration as well, not to act in any substantive way to end the genocidal situation it faced from the mullahs and their Arab allies.
Vance even threatened Israel about doing such things.
So it had no choice, with Iran closing in on nuclear breakout, and since October 7th, 2023, constantly being blasted by all sorts of military ordnance to respond.
When Trump finally decided to act much later, he did so largely because he realized that North Korea, China, and Russia were probably on the verge of supplying ICBMs to the mullahs, so the American homeland now also came under threat.
When we faced an extremely well armed and trained genocidal foe in WWII, Nazi Germany—and to a somewhat lesser extent Imperial Japan—we realized that, once again, half measures would not work in defeating such powerful, determined, and dangerous enemies.
There’s no doubt that Iran has “sleeper cells” and such already in places like America and elsewhere ready to cause extreme pain to the rest of the world, especially the “Big Satan “ as America is called. Israel, the “one bomb Zionist Entity” is the Little Satan.
The 12’er Shi’as want total chaos and disruption to occur in order to usher in the appearance of their long hidden 12th Imam, the Mahdi, who’ll establish world order via forced conversion of all of the rest of the kafir infidels who have not already come to “see the light.”
During WW II, Germany and Japan targeted wherever they saw fit to achieve victory, and slaughtered tens of millions of people before the war was over.
Iran of the genocidal mullahs is akin to Nazi Germany and must be dealt with similarly.
As painful as it was, to both German civilians as well as Japanese civilians, and ourselves as well, we had to finish the job of bringing the Nazis and their Japanese counterparts to the point of absolute, unconditional surrender, and total victory.
And afterwards, we knew we had to stay the course and not hastily retreat from those lands.
Iran remains a big problem because of its still relatively large stockpile of aggressive weaponry and large numbers of IRGC lower and mid-level leaders and personnel.
They have to be utterly defeated or the entire conflict we’ve fought will only have to be revisited again down the road—and the mullahs know the American public will not have the stomach for this.
Today, as a result, strong democracies exist in both of the above former enemy nations which do not threaten their neighbors.
As economically painful as it might be, we must do likewise with Iran. Iranian oil must be confiscated to help pay for this conflict forced upon ourselves on behalf of much of the rest of the entire world, not to mention Israel’s thankless crucial role as well.
Territory is often lost in war, especially if it was used to launch aggression against peaceful neighbors and others as well.
The mullahs, like the Nazis, must be ousted and replaced by true leaders chosen by their diverse peoples instead. And American civilian and military personnel must stay behind to assure success.
Hopefully the pro-democracy Scion of the Royal House of Pahlavi will return with huge numbers of his pro-Iran, instead of pro-Islamist, people to support him and other major freedom loving Iranians now abroad waiting to return after America and Israel help prepare the nation for a much better future.

Lots of good input in this article that expect responses from all readers. Just an example:
Or how about:
?
It is obvious that the theatrics in the USA are leading towards retreat out of Iran as soon as it is defeated. However, US must make sure that the Iranians are the governed by people out of the region like the Saudis who love to deal with offensive behavior in various ways without delay. If the indigenous tribes or whatever residing in Iran are allowed their independence, things may change for the better.
