Nazarian recounts her family’s harrowing escape from Iran during the Islamic Revolution, describing how they were smuggled out in 1985 hidden under burlap sacks and corn in the back of a truck. She details the terrifying journey across the desert to the Pakistani border, where they endured gunshots from border police before eventually making their way to Vienna and finally entering the United States. Drawing from this lived experience, Nazarian warns her audience that she recognizes the patterns of that revolution— which she says turned Iran into a “prison for women” and a state sponsor of terrorism—emerging again today. She asserts that she has “seen this movie before” and urges Americans to recognize these dangerous ideological shifts before history repeats itself. At about 12 minutes into the speech, Nazarian addresses the students who are today acting as useful idiots in the remaking of the tragedy of her childhood, challenging them with the fact that they have no conception of what the world would look like without America and that Israel stands on the front line of battle in the war between civilization and barbarism.
