Ollie Anisfeld raises concerns about JD Vance’s judgment and argues that his financial and political relationships warrant scrutiny.
Vance reportedly held a fundraiser at Omid Malik’s Southampton home which raised more than $5 million for the RNC from about 35 attendees.
Malik is described as being a major figure in the conservative media and donor network, which includes his role at 1789 Capital and its reported investment in Tucker Carlson’s media company.
Anisfeld cites FARA filings which suggest a firm connected to the Carlson media ecosystem was being paid $180,000 a month by Qatar’s embassy to arrange media appearances for Qatar.
Garrett Ventry, a Malik business associate who attended Vance’s fundraiser, is also described as receiving $80,000 a month from Qatar for media-placement work.
Anisfield also argues that Malik’s connections extend into the donor network which supports Vance as well as into organizations which provide access to senior Trump officials for wealthy individuals.
Anisfeld notes that a significant increase in Qatar’s media outreach to conservative American outlets took pace following Trump’s 2024 victory, suggesting a deliberate influencing campaign with the American right.
Qatar continues to portray itself as a neutral mediator while simultaneously maintaining relationships hostile actors such as Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and others who are openly hostile to US, Western, and Israeli interests.
The pronounced warning from the video is to caution that there are overlapping financial, political and media relationships surrounding Vance which warrant further scrutiny as to whether Qatari influence is influencing the future direction of US foreign policy.
