Dr. David Wurmser joins Rabbi Pesch Wolicki and among the topics discussed is that regional conflicts are dependent upon more than just military capabilities as they are also influenced by political will, national sovereignty, and effective strategic alliances.
He noted the example of UNIFIL as an international arrangement which failed to resolve the underlying conflict while establishing cover for Hezbollah against Israeli attacks. He also raised Saudi Arabia’s Yemen policy as an example of strategic indecision and poor choices, the latter being related to its feud with the UAE and the former being related to the Saudi approach in dealing with the Houthi menace. The topic of Iran’s current position was also raised, and Wurmser characterized it as being a contest between economic pressure, regional escalation, and the very real risk of provoking Israel to renew its war with Iran.
