Peloni: The state of Lebanon was once a Christian nation, and yet today, the Christians of that once great country stand so imperiled that they are seeking the protections and benefits of being ruled by Israel, knowing that their fate would be better served under Israeli rule than under the rule of their own captured nation.

In a development that should shake every Israeli and every friend of Israel to the core, Christian leaders in southern Lebanon are openly requesting annexation by Israel and Israeli citizenship for their communities. These are not abstract discussions — they are desperate appeals from people living under the boot of Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed Shiite jihadists who have turned their lives into a nightmare of persecution and fear.
From Israel’s perspective, despite the obvious sensitivity, there is also a profoundly positive aspect to this appeal. It completely collapses the vicious blood libel, pushed by Hezbollah propaganda and echoed by antisemitic elements in certain Christian right circles in the United States, that the IDF is deliberately acting to harm the Christian population in Lebanon on religious grounds. The truth is the opposite: when given the choice, these Christian communities are turning to the Jewish state for protection, sovereignty, and a secure future. This is yet another powerful testament that Israel stands as the only true safe haven for minorities in the Middle East, exposing the lies of our enemies and their useful idiots abroad.
At the same time, in the wake of the fall of the Assad regime in Syria back in December 2024, Druze leaders in southern Syria made similar calls, voting for Israeli annexation as well. They have seen the massacres and sectarian violence unleashed by Jolani’s Sunni jihadis.
These Christian and Druze leaders know the truth that much of the world ignores and too many Jewish leaders, including in Israel, are afraid to fully act upon: Israel is the only country in the Middle East that truly protects their lives.
Think about that for a moment. Christians in Lebanon persecuted by jihadi Shiites. Druze in Syria persecuted by jihadi Sunnis. And who do these ancient communities turn to for safety? The Jewish state of Israel. Not to the international community, not to Arab “brothers,” not to the UN, but to Israel for safety, security, and a future.
This is not coincidence. This is God’s plan unfolding before our eyes. The Bible speaks clearly of a Greater Israel, the full biblical borders where the Jewish people are meant to be a light unto the nations and a secure homeland. The larger and stronger the Jewish state of Israel, the safer minorities in the region become. It is not primarily about us, it is about the divine purpose: only under Jewish sovereignty can Christians, Druze, and other minorities live in peace, free from the evil of jihadi Islam that seeks to dominate or destroy all who are different.
Yet Israeli leaders, even good ones like Prime Minister Netanyahu, hesitate. They fear what the world will say. They worry about international condemnation, diplomatic isolation, or media backlash. But look at the reality on the ground: the minorities themselves are begging for Israeli control and protection. They understand what the headlines ignore, that Israeli rule brings security, prosperity, and freedom, while the alternatives bring bloodshed and subjugation.
By Israel not boldly annexing and securing southern Lebanon and southern Syria when the opportunity and the appeals are there, we are delaying our destiny and abandoning our role as the protector of the vulnerable in this region.
Netanyahu has been a strong leader who has delivered victories and refused to surrender. But just as Moses could not lead the Jewish people into the Land of Israel and Joshua was needed to complete the mission, we may need new leadership with even greater courage and vision, leaders unafraid to proudly expand Israeli sovereignty while explaining unapologetically to the world why this is the only path to true peace and minority protection in the Middle East.
The Christian leaders in Lebanon and Druze leaders in Syria are already saying it out loud. They see the writing on the wall. The question is whether we in Israel will have the faith and the courage to listen to God’s clear signal and act.
The “Greater Israel” project is not imperialism, it is redemption. It is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy and the only realistic guarantee of safety for all who seek to live in dignity in this dangerous neighborhood.
The time to act boldly is now. We must strengthen our faith and do what we know we must do.
Am Yisrael Chai!!!

As the great Peloni says, “Peace will come only through our strength.”
And from me, I say, “hear the words of Lebanese Christians and others who beg Israel to give them acceptance and life long safety within a larger Jewish state.”
