Actions have consequences

By Ted Belman

PM Netanyahu told the Cabinet tonight quoting Rabin:

“The response to the attack on Zionism and the State of Israel must reinforce and underscore the implementation of the settlement plan in all areas in which the government decides regarding settlement,”
“These are not my words…. Today we are building and we will continue to build in Jerusalem and in all areas that are on the map of the strategic interests of the State of Israel.”

“The unilateral move by the Palestinian Authority at the UN General Assembly constitutes a flagrant violation of agreements signed with the Israeli government,..The Israeli government rejects the decision of the General Assembly.”

Also on Sunday, Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said Israel would withhold NIS 450 million in Palestinian tax revenues to offset a debt to the Israel Electric Corporation, a move widely seen as punishment for the upgrade.

Israel rejected the United Nations upgrade, saying it impeded the peace process and was in contravention of the Oslo peace accords.

Never here in Israel unless it’s brought by the left and against the right.

Looks like the left figured it out. Got any ideas that might work?

  2. @ Bernard Ross:

Come down to earth! Some might think you are demented.

    Nobody ain’t suing nobody.

Will never see the light of day in any court here or there. Besides the issue of standing and damages all courts cede governments right to determine policy even bad policy and seldom if ever interfere. Never here in Israel unless it’s brought by the left and against the right.

Yamit, this is a powerful argument and can be used also against anti-Israel westerners, with regards to the charges of both Israeli apartheid and ethnic cleansing against the oh-so-adorable-in-their-plight Palestinians.

Do you happen to have a link? – ignore me if you are busy.

I like the one where our National Insurance Institute (NII) pays the Arabs to have kids. Most Arabs males have more than one wife, and multiple kids with each. We pay child allowances to everyone who has kids and for each child. Say what one does re: the Orthodox and ultra Orthodox who have lots of kids but at least they add to the Jewish population pool.
Arabs being paid to have Kids in Israel by the Jewish taxpayer is a Zionist oxymoron. Whenever some Israeli throws demographics at us I always throw this back at them and they shut up.
We are dysfunctional and insane. In our democracy we can’t exclude any ethnic group from the national ATM, we must give to the goyim the appearance of equality. How un-Jewish that is?
When BB demands that the Palis recognize Israel as the Jewish State, (I smile)

The problem is not the Arabs. The problem is the Jews. If the latter had faith in G-d, all would go well for them. As long they listen to the nations instead of to Hashem, they will continue to suffer and they will know neither rest nor peace.

  5. @ yamit82: there needs to be a protest movement which demands recognition of the jewish right of settlement west of the Jordan river from the Israeli govt and to demand that the GOI fulfill their obligations to that effect instructed in san remo, LON, and UNCharter. I haven’t heard of any ongoing movement. However, I believe that individuals can sue to stop the GOI from obstructing settlement and to compel the GOI to “encourage settlement using the relevant treaties and declarations as a basis, Also, in the US I believe the state dept could be sued by any Jews as a member of the class of global jewry also to cease obstruction and to compel “encouragement” as per relevant treaties. In fact it could be done in all the relevant nations who were participants, and the UN. With so many rich jews I dont know why it isnt tried. I would love to see what arguments they can come up with. This is what dershowitz should be doing rather than touting himself as some expert. Same with bnai brith, zoa, etc. Adelson should put $$$ this instead of tens of millions into GOP Probably the GOI would find a way to kill it as with Ros Lehtinen bills..

Netanyahu and his government must begin building throughout the entire country, as a right, not as a “punishment” to the enemy.

100% correct, it is as if they are avoiding to say it is a jewish right to settle there. They have gone along with so many things that they are now caught in it. However, the breach of Oslo gives the opportunity to delare a hiatus to re assess the situation based on the land for peace paradigm enshrined in 242 and oslo. He should say that the failure of the paradigm necessitates a new approach and then appoint a committe eto analyze it and afterwards, based on the committee reassert the demand for the fulfillment of agreements with the jews, the reparations for jewish refugees, etc.. They must state that Jews have been under pressure to abdicate their rights under duress and that it will no longer continue. Agreements made under duress are not legally binding. Great opportunities exist with the breach of oslo, it can serve as the excuse to stop the swindling process and then act unilaterally based on legal jewish rights. Let them take it to court and by the time the jewish lawyers finish it will be all over and settled (on the land with a land rush). If the Jews lose the case tell them to feck off(but first give them the chance to do the right thing while the land is being settled). This takes only the one thing: the unity of the jewish people to recognize they have been swindled and to demand a change.

  7. @ Bernard Ross:

With Levy report in place, and a unilateral declaration of the determination to fulfill the agreements, this would fulfill the legally binding imperative to “encourage” jewish settlement west of the jordan river. This would require a change of Israeli minds but can be unilaterally accomplished

Professor Ron Breiman served as chairman of Professors for a Strong Israel from 2001 to 2005.

“Netanyahu and his government must begin building throughout the entire country, as a right, not as a “punishment” to the enemy. The punishment can come in the form of freezing construction for Rawabi, the new Arab city in the works near Ramallah”.

I keep hoping that he is so sure that they wont and therefore no “peace deal” However, this would depend on Pal actions and behaviour and what is needed are unilateral Israeli solutions and actions that depend on no agreements from others to implement.

  9. yamit82 Said:

We are dysfunctional and insane. In our democracy we can’t exclude any ethnic group from the national ATM, we must give to the goyim the appearance of equality.

There is a counter argument already used and in force for decades concerning a similar situation. The concept of “affirmative action” is in conflict with democratic principles yet is accepted and in force for decades in the US. It is based on the concept that justice must be restored and the effects and damages of the injustice corrected. Seemingly undemocratic principle may be justified by millennia of injustice to the jews and that the damages therefrom must be corrected in order to restore justice. Justice cannot be restored by simply starting today and giving it out equally from today forward. All the thieves then keep their ill goy gains and the damaged remain damaged. The jews have been slaughtered, exiled and swindled to this very day(Sunday 2Dec2012) for over 2000 years. To correct this the Jews must have his land restored. He must also have his population restored to what it would be if the slaughters did not occur, therefore an apparently undemocratic action in a democratic state. I beleive this same concept could be instituted regarding jewish settlement in YS. It can be declared that in order to restore justice to the Balfour, san remo, LONmandate, UNcharter80, the obstruction of the settlement for the last decades can only be mitigated by a massive and speedy solution. therefore, I suggest a US style homestead act for jews whereby state and untitled lands are given free to Jews in a land rush race. With Levy report in place, and a unilateral declaration of the determination to fulfill the agreements, this would fulfill the legally binding imperative to “encourage” jewish settlement west of the jordan river. This would require a change of Israeli minds but can be unilaterally accomplished.

Get the lazy Arab bums off Israeli welfare and let them take care of themselves! They want independence – fine. The Arab leaders behave like two year olds with a bad temper tantrum. Whatever one thinks of BB and the Israeli elite – at least they’re the adults. That’s why the Jews have a state and that is why the Arabs will never have one!

  12. @ Canadian Otter:

I agree but you forget we have elections in less than 2 months. Every time BB thinks he needs support he makes hollow gestures or empty declarations.

BB IS A VILE WEASEL, A SOCIOPATHIC LIAR WITH A DIPLOMA IN LYING. THOSE ARE HIS BETTER ATTRIBUTES. never never believe a word he utters.

  13. @ Dr. Fay:

I agree but unfortunately the Jews don’t believe in either the bible or G-d, so your call here will fall if read at all on deaf ears.

“Tell this in the house of Jacob and make it heard in Judah, saying:

Listen, you foolish and senseless people, with eyes that do not see and ears that do not hear.

As a cage is full, so are their houses full of deceit; therefore, they have become great and they have become rich.

They have become fat, they have become thick; also they transgress in deeds of wickedness; they did not plead the cause of an orphan that they prosper, and the judgment of the poor they did not judge.

The prophets have prophesied falsely, and the priests govern after them, and My people love to have it so. Now what shall you do in the end thereof?

  14. INACTION ALSO HAS CONSEQUENCES – The damage done to Israel because of government’s refusal to annex the land is immense. It may cause not only the eventual destruction of Israel, but of all Jews.

These government words and gestures are there to appease the Jews. How does the government explain the freeze and the countless expulsions of Jews – never Arabs – in the past four years, while Arabs continue to expand illegally over the land on both sides of the Green Line? ~~~~~~ How does the government explain the prime minister’s explicit endorsement of Two States for Two Peoples, offering Jewish land to Arab terrorists and Nazis?

The govt has to say something and appear to do something in response to the UN vote. But more settlements mean almost nothing at this point. The total area of Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria is 1.7%. That’s all. The rest is either Arab or on its way to be gifted to the Arabs. At this pace of Jewish settlement Israel would need several centuries to spread over its tiny ancient heartland. And it does not have that much time now. The noose is tightening. Either annex the land now or give it up forever.

  15. Today we are building and we will continue to build in Jerusalem and in all areas that are on the map of the strategic interests of the State of Israel.”

My wager is that this will remain as per the 3000 units to build in east jerusalem, maale Adunim and the area between. However, area c, with the least west bank population, appears to be given to the pals. A dog and pony show, then what measures will keep at the minimum area c other than annexation? Israel has a legal basis to annex, or to remain in occupation, until the legal rights of the jews to settlement west of the jordan river is fulfilled. The creation of the state of Israel, west of the green line, does not fulfill those global jewish rights.
