Wikipedia (the article about Luc Montagnier) does say that he was wrong based on the judgement of healthfeedback website whose experts also discounted the conclusions of two Chinese scientists that hypoxemia in COVID-19 has to do with the destruction of hemoglobin.
The above doesn’t negate my previous reply but merely adds info to it.

BTW, the strain of the coronavirus that infected the Chinese stayed in China and the South East Asia.
The Europeans and Americans got a different strain (mutated?) of the same virus.
Both strains have the same ancestor.

But how can they be so sure the a nobel laureate doesn’t know what he is talking about? Other researchers have also found gnomes in SARS-CoV-2 that aare also found in the HIV virus.
