And that’s before she said she thought her “Palestinian” “friend” living under “occupation “ in the “West Bank” had good reason to hate Israel and that it wasn’t antisemitism. Not sure if it was this interview about her book or another. Has she never seen “Gentleman”s Agreement?”

    She’s also wrong that Jews are just hated as whites, not worse.

    Before this Palestinianist driven wave, it was mainly fueled by the Nation of Islam.

    Jews were not seen as whites and were hated worse than whites. I say, “hated” in the past tense, because Mayor Eric Adams, the greatest mayor in my lifetime, defused it.

    I lost count of the times I was attacked in the 47 years I’ve lived here. But, not lately. There’s a friendliness in the air I’ve never seen before. That goes for my childhood and adolescence on the Upper West Side, as well. I was attacked under Giuliani and Bloomberg, too. Did they make the city safer for Jews? I’ll have to take your word for it.

    I learned of the following theory, one week after being attacked on the same site, by a young black antisemite who recited it to me. He said he learned it in college.

    Full disclosure: I’m a secular right wing Zionist because I am a second generation Shoah survivor who doesn’t want a repeat genocide of Israel’s seven million Jews. I was a pro-Palestinian leftist until 22 years ago. Even though I live in Manhattan, 9/11 didn’t shake me the way the Oslo terror war did and after they were offered everything they had claimed they wanted on a silver platter and then reading undisputed translations of what they were really saying to each other in Palestinian Media Watch, talking like Nazis, not soup Nazis, real Nazis. I don’t care about assimilation. I’m an assimilated secular Jew like my parents and a 4th generation New Yorker on my mother’s side. When it comes to spirituality, I was brought up to be more at home with Buddhism, Hinduism, and Taoism than Judaism by my Jewish mother. My father, whose maternal grandfather was a, presumably traditional Orthodox, rabbi in Hungary, hated and despised all religion. I haven’t the slightest intention of going anywhere but defending Israel and Jewish rights to and within Greater Israel is one of my top issues, and often my only issue when it comes time to vote which is not something many American Jews, including religious Jews can say. Because JEWISH LIVES MATTER!
