Dozens of bullets fired into Belleville Synagogue night of Sept. 20, 2026: What we know so far

Looking at the cautious information first. This is the right move. Too many of these events become destroyed in the public consciousness by a combination of disinformation and of course, the withholding of real information by authorities when the attacker is of the left, (trans etc) or Muslim. Our suspicion is it is to let people’s blood cool before announcing anything factual in order to prevent rational action or criticism of policies that create these events as a consequence.

As an unrelated aside, I remember seeing communist propaganda posters back in the 1970s which said, “What if they gave a war and neither side came?” A very clever dialectic to get what they wanted, which is what they now have, and which would be, from the perspective of the left and Islam, “What if we started a war and only our side came?”

Sunday 20 September 2026, about 7:00–7:10 p.m., outside Sons of Jacob Synagogue, Bleecker Ave and Victoria Ave, Belleville, Ontario. Yom Kippur service was underway. About 25 people inside.
A Belleville officer encountered a man armed with a rifle. There was an exchange of gunfire. The building was not breached. Bullets hit stained glass; the congregation president said 20+ holes in the windows. No one inside was injured. Remaining Yom Kippur services were cancelled.
Casualties

Officer: shot; SIU later: critical-stable. Taken to hospital (Kingston General in several reports).

Ontario’s SIU has the file because an officer was shot. That is automatic; it is not a finding of fault.

Belleville police on Facebook/X-adjacent statements: officer encountered an individual ~7:10 p.m.; both injured; no ongoing public-safety risk. Spokesperson Lauren Wilkinson told local press that online “second shooter” rumours are inaccurate.
Witness detail that is on the record
Synagogue president Norm Weddum (CNN): officer had been hired for security that day, was in an unmarked vehicle, made contact as the man approached; Weddum locked the auditorium and told people to get down. He said the officer saved everyone inside.
Neighbours told Quinte News they heard one shot, then a burst — roughly 20–30 rounds.

Motive. Police and the mayor have not said the synagogue was the target. Timing (Yom Kippur) is a fact; targeting is not yet a finding.

Going forward we have to look at what we can know for a fact. The state in Canada, and in the US during Biden, lies to the public to protect a narrative. This means we have to use our best thinking to determine what is true. In fact we may not be able to determine what is true, but we should be able to determine what is not true.

We know they know who the attacker was. We also know many people predicted an attack somewhere on the Jewish community somewhere between sundown last night and tonight because it is the most sacred day on the Jewish calendar.

Not sure I like his characterization. This isn’t “Tribal Warfare”. This is Islamic jihad.

The framing by Tablesalt as “Tribal Warfare” in our opinion is an own goal. The left wants us to see it this way as part of the deracination of all cultures and identities. This is Islamic Jihad most likely, although potentially a leftist attack of a useful idiot caught up in CBC narrative attacks and full of fury from it.

For those who read the Honest Reporting newsletter, one can see how often CBC produces brutal anti-Israel propaganda and how a person who listens to the official state broadcaster, even a very good person could get caught up enough to do an attack like this.

Either way, understanding the event is the only way we might ever be able to forge a meaningful defence against it. Looking at it as tribal warfare, or anything other than a leftist or Islamic jihad attack means not being able to put the damn dot on the right target. Metaphorically speaking of course.
