Ever since Russia waged war in Ukraine, everything has gone through a sea change. The Russo-Ukrainian war has altered the global dynamics for good and rebel member states are rising against the unfair hegemony of stronger states, which would probably be the end of the EU. Two such powers are Poland and Hungary who are now all set to take on the EU and side with Russia. Now, this is what irks the Union and hence the leader Germany made a plan to expose Poland to the Russian attack. Watch the video to know more.

Hungary has voted against the UN resolution, which designate the Temple Mount as an exclusively Muslim holy site, ignoring its significance in Judaism.

Hungary is steadfast in its support for Israel and is voting against a motion in the UN to censure Israel, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Facebook on Tuesday.

  2. @Michael On what do you base that assessment? I found this.

In the 21st century, Hungary is known as one of the closest allies of Israel in Europe, breaking the European consensus many times and standing on Israel’s side. The Hungarian and Israeli leaders have both made official visits many times.

In 2019, Hungary opened a trade office in Jerusalem, recognizing it as an integral part of Israel de facto.[11]

On 21 May 2020, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs has spoken to his Israeli colleague and told him that “Hungary will always stand beside Israel”. He also criticized Europe for its “politic hypocrisy”.[12] Later that year, the two countries have decided to co-operate in the field of Space-research.[13]

On 18 May 2021, Hungary blocked the EU from taking a formal position on 2021 Israel–Palestine crisis. Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó accused the EU of opposing Israel. “I have a general problem with these European statements on Israel…, These are usually very much one-sided, and these statements do not help, especially not under current circumstances, when the tension is so high.” – he told.[14][15][16][17]

In January 2022, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett thanked his hungarian counterpart, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, for the Hungarian government’s consistent support of Israel at international forums.[18]

  3. Hungary votes at the UN with Israel regularly.
Hungary is Israel’s closest friend at the UN and a very reliable ally.
I live part of the year in Budapest. Hungary is the safest place in Europe for Jews.

Hungary has been a thorn in the EU’s side, but intends to remain in the EU. They make it hard, so I can’t foretell the future, but to say that Hungary has options, and so does the Visegrád 4.

  4. Check your figures, Sebastien. Hungary rarely sides with Israel in the UN. Israel’s only consistent allies there are the US and the former US Trust Territories of Palau, Micronesia and Marshall Islands. After them, depending on the political mood, are Australia and Canada. An occasional odd duck like Togo sometimes chimes in.

Getting back to Poland, help continues to pour in from US allies, for its proxy war with Russia:

  5. Hungary is one of the only countries – and it’s literally just a handful, Micronesia’s another one – that consistently votes with Israel in the UN.

America, Human Rights, and Israel’s War on Palestine | by Jeffrey D. Sachs

Well, won’t he be surprised when these “poor victims of Israel’s violence” and their friends turn on him (eventually, if not sooner).

I saw an article several years ago, not by Sachs but by someone who knew what was going on after the USSR fell apart.

The author said that both Sachs and the former Soviets who were involved with the reforms had no doubts that they would get the necessary loans from the West/US(?) to help reform the economy but it was not to be.

He said that Sachs was running around trying to obtain the needed loans but was refused everywhere.

I think Sachs is an idealist to a great extent, i.e., he doesn’t understand the political aims involved, he only acts as a theoretician of economics.

  8. By the way, since we are on the subject of Sachs and Russia, a brief review of his role in the early steps which set Russia on its path towards being corrupted and dominated by the West should be considered relevant:
