Dr. Wurmser has suggested that Israel bargain with Trump/USA on what it is willing to accept and what will require some leeway. The major problem with this argument is Israel’s dependence on US arms and ammunition. This card has been played out before by numerous US presidents. They placed embargos on Israel in its time of need to coerce Israel to accept stupid situations like encompassing the Egyptian armed forces in the Sinai desert but not completing the task.
In recent times, Hamas and Hezbollah have been left to live on because the US, more than any other element, coerced Israel into stopping while leaving the fire burning. This was actually pressure applied by the gulf states which seem to have measured Trump and found him wanting, as an inaccurate quote from the Book of Daniel.
The same kind of leverage has even been tried by the Israeli opposition to gain enough leverage over Netanyahu that he gives up and goes home, which has been suggested to him numerous times too.
