Look at Assad.. just the other day…
How many Billions does he have stashed??
The billions which Assad has squirreled away are different than the billions stolen by Abdullah and company. Jordan receives the greatest allotment of foreign aid bar none, and this amount was recently increased to support the improvement of life in Jordan for the average Jordanian. Hence, while the Syrians were under the boot of Assad who was stealing their assets, Jordan is under the jackboot of Abdullah who is stealing the assets of the US taxpayer, when in fact the only thing which has been keeping the king on his make believe throne has been the US govt’s decision to keep him there. So these matters of state theft are both despicable and harmful to the relative public’s need, but they are still of a very distinctively different nature as it relates to the security apparatus which kept Assad and Abdullah in power, respectively.
A very brilliant report on i24, and a very brilliant and lucid bresentation by Mudar and one of his colleagues. The internal situation in Jordan and the aspirations of its two main ethnic groups –“Palestinians” and “Bedouin tribesmen” (the most commonly used name for them although perhaps neither is totally accurate).
Mudar is right about the corruption of the monarchy, and the way the king has squirrelled away a vast amount of money abroad. In addition he possesses several luxurious estates in several different European countries and the United States. Obviously, the money for these massive investments must have been taken from the state treasury. Most of the money in Jordan’s public treasury is paid by Jordanian citizens of very modest means, middle-class, working-class, and even very poor, unemployed, people. It is utterly outrageous that their head of state has stolen a huge fortune from them.
One question–I have a vague feeling that much of this podcast is a rebroadcast from a station located in the Arab world. It is just a feeling that not all of the podcast “originated” with i24s Arabic Language channel. It would be nice if Ted could ask Mudar about this and find out from where this podcast originated. I just have this vague feeling about it. If this was originally broadcast in a Saudi or Saudi-controlled channel, for example, that would tell us something about how likely King Abdullah and his wife are to be replaced in the immediate future.

I know the King has money abroad. My family rented an apartment from him in London. He owned that building and the one next to it.
