Liberman: We must destroy terrorism as we destroyed the Nazis

T. Belman.  Israel warns Lebanon that in the next war with Hezbollah, Israel will destroy Lebanon.  There is no reason that Gaza is not treated the same way in next war with Hamas. Hamas is the government of Gaza because the Gazans support them politically. Israel must stop dealing with Hamas as separate from Gaza just as they will no longer deal with Hezbollah as separate from Lebanon.

Liberman calls for a much harsher response next time in Gaza and for the death penalty for terrorists

LibermanModern terrorism is the greatest threat facing the global community in the 21st century and it must be defeated as the Nazis were during World War II, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said Tuesday.

“We must destroy terror as we destroyed the Nazis,” he said during the annual conference at the Institute for National Security Studies.

The classical terrorism of the 1970s and 1980s with its small ideological groups has given way to a global network, Liberman said.

Terrorist groups have acquired and rule territory, creating the equivalent of terrorist states. Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza are examples of this phenomenon, Liberman said.

The Lebanese Shi’ite group Hezbollah is stronger then ISIS and Al-Qaida, he said.

“We have tried to ignore the problem [of global terrorism], but it has only grown more severe,” he said.

“It is not possible to fight ISIS only with airstrikes and surgical operations,” said Liberman.

He added that he supported the Congressional decision to authorize US President Barack Obama to make use of ground troops to fight ISIS.

This is the correct way to battle ISIS, he said.

Modern terrorism is particularly frightening because “it’s an irrational entity” whose members “live to die.”

Terror groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, he said, are only growing stronger, Liberman said.

Israel did not defeat Hamas during Operation Protective Edge last summer, Liberman said.

“Hamas is not on its knees,” he said. It just held a parade to display state of the art weapons in Gaza. It has cyber capability and has tested new rockets. ”

“A fourth conflict with Gaza is inevitable,” Liberman said. Israel must now be working to prevent a fifth conflict in Gaza by the use of a much harsher military response, he said.

“Israel loses its deterrence capability when it goes to war with Hamas every two years,” he said.

“The next conflict with Hamas and Hezbollah must have a decisive outcome,” he said.

Israel must also take a tougher domestic stance on terrorism, Liberman said, and added that his party would push for legislation that would introduce the death penalty for terrorists.

  1. SO, that’s why the same Liberman thinks the terrorists should have their own state in Gaza, Judea and Samaria? Is that the “decisive outcome” he hopes for? Check out Liberman’s party web site before you lionize him as some great defender of Zion.
