Netanyahu: I Don’t Want a Binational State, but We Need to Control All of the Territory for the Foreseeable Future

‘I’m asked if we will forever live by the sword – yes,’ says prime minister.

By Barak Ravid, HAARETZ,  Oct 26, 2015

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that although he doesn’t want a binational state, “at this time we need to control all of the territory for the foreseeable future.”

MKs who took part in the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meeting — where the prime minister spoke — told Haaretz that Netanyahu turned to the politicians and said, hinting at the anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination: “These days, there is talk about what would happen if this or that person would have remained. It’s irrelevant; there are movements here of religion and Islam that have nothing to do with us.” Netanyahu then turned to opposition MKs and said: “You think there is a magic wand here, but I disagree. I’m asked if we will forever live by the sword — yes.”

Netanyahu said that contrary to what many of his colleagues on the right are saying, he is ready for territorial concessions. He added, however, that the problem is that the other side is unwilling to go down that path. “Half of the Palestinians are ruled by extreme Islam that wants to destroy us; if there were elections tomorrow, Hamas would win.”

[THIS IS NOT SIMPLY A NUMBERS GAME. IF ONLY 20% WANTED TO DESTROY ISRAEL AND THEY WERE IN CHARGE, IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT THE REST THINK.]

Netanyahu also spoke about Habayit Hayehudi MK Moti Yogev’s recent attack on a High Court judge. “I fully support the courts, but I only ask that procedures be expedited,” he said. “The court is not an enemy and does not stand by the enemy, I don’t think so and it’s absurd to say so. But it’s our right to demand the court make swift decisions.”

[SO NETANYAHU FINALLY ADMITS HE SUPPORTS THE COURT.  THAT’S WHY THE RIGHT HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CLIP THE COURT’S WINGS.]

  1. Parshat Vayera: 2005 Disengagement was wrong 4,000 years ago too

Abraham’s deals with Avimelech and Pichol in this week’s parsha are a lesson for making deals with Arabs today.
    …….
The story does not end there. There is much more. The Medrash Rabbah points out that the deal Abraham made with the Phillistines in Be’er Sheva led to the murder by the Phillistines of Seven Great Jews including Shimshon HaGibor, King Shaul, King Shaul’s Son Yonatan, Two other Son’s of Shaul, and the two Sons of Eli the High Priest.

It also led to the destruction of 7 holy sites, including:

    1)Ohel Moed,

    2)Gilgal,

    3)Givon,

    4)Nob,

    5)Shiloh, and

6 and 7) the Two Holy Temples on Mount Moriah.
    ……..

and today the same with those who claim to be the phillistines with no ethnic connection to extinct folk.

  2. “We decided upon a meaningful change in the defense approach for the area surrounding the Gush Etzion Junction,” Perl wrote in the email. “In the area around the bloc’s junction, soldiers will keep Palestinians from being in contact with the Jewish population to the extent that they can,” he said. The IDF did not respond to requests for verification of Perl’s assertions or further information about the army’s plans for the Etzion Bloc.

“In the past two weeks we have experienced, almost every day, a series of serious terror attacks in the Etzion Bloc. To our dismay, according to our intelligence assessment there is no end in sight and we do not identify a decrease in the terrorists’ motivation to attack,” Perl said.

the problem with an ongoing policy of separation, rather than deportation of criminals and terrorists, is that it will leave more areas JEW FREE in YS. Deportation to gaza, a or b will drain criminals, terrorists and anti semites from the currently held Jewish areas. Separation will give areas of the Jewish homeland to terrorists, criminals and anti semites. Separation is a policy synonymous with withdrawal, disengagement, retreat from the Jewish homeland. this means that the terror will have paid off, it has already paid off with BB’s cash awards to arab villages that incubate the anti semitism and terror.

  3. Bear Klein Said:

Saudi Arabia’s interests would be harmed by Israel being tied with a full blown intifada.

Of course my “HUH”???? was rhetorical and sarcastic first because the last time a saudi prince was alleged to say something similar it was denied but mainly because for a couple of years I have been referring to under the table understandings and cooperation. As these cooperation’s have been stated by the GOI it is only the extent which is in question. what I have been asserting for the past couple of years, which still seems to be rejected by many on this forum, is that many of BB’s most controversial decisions since POD have been based on him trying to maintain whatever understandings he has with the GCC. Whether directly or indirectly the GCC has leashed hamas by qatar and egypt, weakened hezbullah and Iran by spreading their forces thin and drawing them out of their lairs, they have dampened significantly their anti iisrael press coverage of pal israel conflict, they took israels side in PE,…… I stated that their interest was to dampen the pal israel public conflict in order to recruit jihadis for their shia proxy war rather than the jihadis focusing on Israel, there are likely many intelligence cooperations also in the theater. what has BB done: he targeted iranian links to gaza in the opening of POD and when that was finished a convenient cease fire emerged brokered by qatar that prevented invasion into gaza; similarly in PE gaza was not invaded and Israel was soft; Israel is soft now on raising the conflict; Bb released the prisoners because he and abbas knew the 9 mos talks were scheduled to end in failure and abbas must have something to wave to his constituents to avoid his own assasination; abbas and bb play a game on tax withholding, BB nuetered Bennett on settlement, BB freezes settlement, BB allows and connects rawabi, BB seeks economic reward to the Israel and opal arabs even when stabbing Jews, etc… why, you may ask

if you evaluate BB’s actions in the light of him wanting to grow these understandings, beleiving that Israel will get a better deal from the GCC who hold the purse strings to all the sunni arab players, then his behavior starts to appear to have a method to his madness…. whether his reason is correct is a whole different issue. BB;s job is to keep the lid on the pal issue so the GCC can do their job but also it may be that it is iran instigating the attacks through their own pal contacts so as to make the sunni proxies forget them and focus on israel

  4. @ bernard ross:

My guess is this was a message to the Palestinians that Saudi Arabia’s interests would be harmed by Israel being tied with a full blown intifada.

The Saudi’s view the conflict with Iran as a matter of life and death for the Kingdom. Israel and the Saudis have some understandings about the conflict that are mutually beneficial. The Saudis and many other Arabs look at the Palestinians as untrushworthy and not worthy of support.

  5. @ NormanF:
I agree Israel needs to start annexing Judah/Samaria. It should start immediately by applying Israeli law to all Jewish Towns in Judah/Samaria and building in E1. This will signal the end of the two state solution.

  6. Netanyahu is forced to admit a Palestinian Arab state is fundamentally incompatible with Israel’s existence as a Jewish State.

This is not his official policy – he still supports pro forma the so-called TSS but reality makes it effectively a dead letter.

And the reason for that is the Arab side doesn’t want a state; it wants to destroy Israel.

So yes, Israel will have to hold the sword forever.

A future Prime Minister will have to take steps to assert Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.

The Palestinian Arabs do not need to be given hope that they will finally succeed in driving the Jews out; to the contrary, they must be deprived of it.

Consigning the TSS to the dustbin of history is necessary to bring them to the realization that the Jewish people are here to stay in their Land, forever.

  7. So we need to first eliminate the terrorists and their supporters from Israel. Not with half measures but fully.

Then assist other Arabs who can not demonstrate loyalty to a Zionist Israel (such as the Druze ) to move elsewhere. This can not really be done effectively until the terrorist infrastructure and most terrorists either killed, jailed or deported.

Status quo is dangerous but it must stated clearly that a two state solution is no longer a viable option.
