T. Belman. Its in israel’s interest to make this move independent of the Deal of the Century and without Trump’s support.  That way she won’t embroil herself in the commitment to negotiate a Palestinian state.

There is no way that Trump would force Israel to recind, especially with the Nov 3 elections coming up soon.  He can’t afford to allienate his Evangelical base.

If sovereignty over the Jordan Valley is vital, we must establish it whether the Trump administration publicly endorses the move or not.

Many in Israel and around the world believe that the government’s plan to extend sovereignty to the Jordan Valley is a matter of seizing an opportunity, but that is not the case, as this move serves an imperative Israeli security interest.

This issue first emerged in 2001, when the Palestinians responded to the peace proposal put forth by then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak by launching a wave of terrorist attacks. Between 2005 and 2016, the Palestinians went on to refuse peace offers presented by prime ministers Ariel Sharon and Ehud Olmert, as well as US Secretary of State John Kerry and US President Barack Obama.

At least seven ships caught fire Wednesday at the Persian Gulf port of Bushehr in Iran, the Tasnim news agency reported.

The news agency didn’t say what started the blaze. There were no reports of injuries.

A local official quoted by the official IRNA news agency said authorities were working to bring the fires under control.

The European Union, Denmark and the Palestinian Authority signed an agreement on Tuesday to build 16 infrastructure projects for the Palestinians in Area C. The EU reaffirmed its opposition to Israel extending its sovereignty in that area.

Area C is the part of the West Bank under Israeli control, according to the Oslo Accords. Any construction, including structures built for Palestinians, must be approved by the IDF, which governs it.

This is my fifth review of a children’s propagandist library book. “Tasting the Sky” described Barakat’s children. “Balcony on the Moon” covers her high school years and her ongoing pursuit for Palestine.

Ramallah-born Ibtisam Barakat, a kind, intelligent child, has become a thoughtful, accomplished young woman. She excelled in her studies and defied Islamic custom by breaking free of an early arranged marriage to pursue her education.

In her book Balcony on the Moon, she explains that she was born in “Palestine,” but questions why it appears nowhere on a map. Except for the nineteen years of Jordan’s rule over its “West Bank,” it was historically Judea (from which is derived “Jew”) and Samaria. The name Palestine was a Roman-contrived insult to the Jews, a taunt of their ancient Cretan enemies, the Philistines.

Turkish forces are at the present time bolstering newly constructed outposts in Iraqi Kurdistan. The Turks have established five new positions on mountainous terrain near the villages of Sharanish and Banka, in the Zakho area adjoining the border with Turkey, since commencing operation in the area in mid-June. Troops have been transported in by helicopter to man the new positions.

The recent letter “on justice and open debate,” published in Harper’s magazine on July 7 and signed by some 150 self-nominated intellectuals, will stand as one of the conspicuous fatuities of this intense American election year.

The intellectuals begin with the portentous assertion that “Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial.” It is then explained that forces that have all long demanded “police reform and greater equality and inclusion across our society,” goals whose championship these signatories claim throughout for themselves, are now being threatened. They have “intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity.”

• By courting Hamas, Abbas and Fatah are emboldening an Islamist movement that seeks to extend its control from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank. Hamas’s declared goal is to replace Israel with an Iranian-style Islamist state.
• Abbas may also be using his renewed ties with Hamas as a way of pressuring the international community into providing him with more financial aid.
• Hamas evidently wants to use the West Bank as a launching pad for carrying out terrorist attacks against Israel.
• Hamas also does not appear to be headed towards recognizing Israel’s right to exist. As such, Abbas seems to be handing Hamas the noose that eventually will be tied around his own neck.

It enjoyed wide praise in various iterations on stage and in a movie, but today it would raise the hackles of political correctness officers.

Netanyahu proposes sovereignty plan September 10th 2019

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s plan to apply sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria has been frozen for the time being, a senior Israeli official said Tuesday morning.

Yariv Levin (Likud), the Knesset Speaker and chief of the Israeli delegation negotiating with the White House on the implementation of the sovereignty plan, said in closed talks that talks with the US on the plan were not progressing at this time, adding that American officials were open to discussion on the subject at this time, Galei Tzahal‘s Moriah Asraf Wolberg reported Tuesday on ‘Good Morning Israel‘ with Efi Triger.

Levin, a key Netanyahu ally, also said that Prime Minister Netanyahu would not move forward with the sovereignty plan without support from the US.

Even without citing the prophetic verses of redemption, one can certainly assert that the Land of Israel has warmly welcomed the returning Jewish people. The land’s warm welcome is manifest in agriculture, industry, hi-tech, medicine, and countless other areas. If only we continue to adopt the ways of the Zionist return of the people to its land, we will receive an exponentially greater return from the yield of the land and from the yield of the ingathering of the exiles to it. We will see how, “always the eyes of the Lord your God are upon the land of Israel, from the beginning of the year until the end of the year” (Deuteronomy 11:13).
