Many Americans understand that the riots aren’t righteous protests but are, instead, leftist activism aimed at destabilizing America and (the activists hope) destroying Trump’s chance at reelection. Still, people found shocking a video showing police in Buffalo pushing an old man to the ground where he lay with blood pouring from his ear. Don’t believe everything you see, though. The old man was a leftist activist looking for trouble and may have staged the whole thing.

If one views the video in a vacuum, it’s awful. A frail-looking old man standing alone against the Buffalo police is brutally pushed to the ground and left to lie there, bleeding:

Almost immediately after the video appeared, the police officers who pushed the man were charged with assault and suspended from the force. This tweet illustrates how effective the man’s fall was in advancing the anti-police narrative:

Alex Selsky, CEO of the World Israel Beytenu movement, former adviser of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, member of the board of governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel, and a lecturer at the School of Politics and Journalism at Hadassah Academic College in Jerusalem, spoke to participants in a May 11 Middle East Forum webinar (video) about the role of Jewish immigrants (olim) from the former Soviet Union and their descendants in Israel today.

Although commonly referred to as “Russian Jews,” Selsky emphasized that only 30% originated from Russia itself, the rest hailing from other former Soviet republics. They number around 900,000, or 1,200,000 if Halakhally non-Jewish members of Jewish households are included. Most arrived after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Selsky also disputed use of the terms “immigrants” and “Russians” in describing Russian-speaking Jews who made aliyah to Israel. “There are no Russian immigrants in Israel,” he explained. “There are Russian-speaking Jewish Israelis who repatriated to their homeland. Russians are in Russia. We’re Jews.”

The rioting and looting across the United States have been widely—though not universally—condemned. The “peaceful protests,” on the other hand, have been universally praised. But is this appropriate? Wouldn’t a broader and more balanced discussion be more constructive than praise without reservation?

Obviously, people have the right to peacefully protest injustice, and obviously incidents of murderous police brutality are more than sufficient justification for protests. But that’s as far as it goes. The scope of these protests is disproportionate to the offense, not because the offense wasn’t hideously wrong, but because there are far more dangerous challenges facing black Americans. The biggest challenge of all: leftists who indoctrinate blacks to think they are always first and foremost victims of racism.

Debunking this narrative of racism can start with the allegation that a disproportionate number of blacks are victims of police brutality, which in itself (and regardless of race) is extremely rare.

100 residents of Mount Hebron protested on Friday following the illegal construction being promoted by Palestinian Authority in the Carmel, Avigayil, Maon and Susya communities.

The residents moved among the many construction groups that were established between the localities and stood on the perimeter of the illegal construction built on the fences of the localities.

The eastern ridge of Mount Hebron is entirely populated by Israeli localities and is largely in Area C and composed of state land. The area has seen a wave of illegal Arab construction.

T. Belman. As you would expect from the NYT, this is a puff piece. If you go to realClearPolitics you will see an updated survey of all the polls. They strongly favour Biden and so do the odds makers. (For my part, it boggles the mind why anyone would vote for Biden, especially blacks.

Rasmussen article explains what is wrong with the polls.

When it comes to opinion polls, just like hurricane or virus models, who has been the most accurate in the past? Rasmussen was the most accurate pollster of 2016 in terms of the popular vote. Less accurate polls, based on their models, predicted a Hillary Clinton landslide.

Rasmussen, to its credit, polls likely voters, rather than registered voters, only about half of whom vote, or adults, an even smaller percentage of whom vote. Most polls skew the survey group, oversampling Democrats, sometimes significantly, finding false support for a Democrat viewpoint.

The Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll during the month of March shows Trump in the high 40 percent approval range, the same as President Obama at the exact same point in his presidency. One president is presiding over a once-in-a-century viral pandemic which has shut down much of the U.S. economy, while the other president was running for reelection, backed by an adoring media. Yet they poll similarly.

If Trump was doing such a bad job today, his numbers would in the low 30s, not close to 50% where he has been for much of his first term.

Real Clear Politics combines a number of public opinion polls into an average. Its most recent results show 49.8 percent approval for the president compared to 47.7 percent disapproval. These polls reflect the typical oversampling of Democrats meaning the real numbers are likely even higher for Trump.

All the protesters both law abiding and unruly, believe that there is systemic racism in the police force even though there is no truth in it.

This week marks 53 years on the civil calendar since the Six Day War.

I have vivid memories of this war.

I remember the terrifying tasks of running to the bomb shelter while hearing the siren on my way to school and being asked to dig graves for fallen soldiers. I also remember that proud moment when I saw my school teacher Yitzhak Yifat and his fellow paratroopers standing at the Western Wall upon its liberation. The reunification of Jerusalem, as well as the liberation of the Golan Heights and Judea and Samaria had renewed the faith of many Israelis, mine included, in a brighter and stronger future.

Ira Rappaport makes a tear in the cloth of his shirt, the age-old Jewish sign of grief. US President Donald Trump’s “Peace to Prosperity” plan for Middle East peace has filled him with that emotion, he says.

“Things are far worse than we thought,” Rappaport laments. “I live in [the settlement of] Shiloh, and I’m going to suffer from here on out. But it’s not just me.”

Settler leaders are increasingly decrying the plan, which Netanyahu is aggressively pushing in order to allow annexation of West Bank settlements and the Jordan Valley, but which some Jewish leaders in the region dread — both for enabling the  potential (though, at this point, highly theoretic) establishment of a Palestinian state and for seemingly allowing 15 settlements to become enclaves within that future entity.

Saudi Arabia, a country implementing austerity measures in a depressed oil market, has been dipping deep into its national reserves to fund a stock buying spree.

In the span of two months, US$40 billion in reserves have been transferred to the kingdom’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), according to the government.

Finance Minister Mohammed al-Jadaan assured the public in a televised interview with Al-Arabiya in early May that, “this procedure was taken after comprehensive study and taking into consideration the sufficient level for foreign-currency reserves.”

The group’s new platform, and this false accusation, united American Jewish organizations and individuals—usually at odds—in outrage

On Monday, an alliance of groups affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement unveiled their first official platform. The 40,000-word manifesto contained many recommendations, including concrete policy proposals, for rectifying the wrongs perpetrated against America’s African-American citizens in the past and present. Unfortunately, the platform also contained a vicious bigoted slur against the Jewish state, which the document’s foreign policy section accused of perpetrating “genocide” against Palestinians. (The platform also labeled Israel an “apartheid state” and joined with the BDS movement in calling for the total academic, cultural, and economic boycott of the country—a demand made for no other state.)

Needless to say, this did not go over well with Jewish groups—including some of Black Lives Matter’s hitherto staunch progressive allies. The rabbinic human rights organization T’ruah, which previously distributed original prayers for Black Lives Matter, and has run anti-occupation educational trips to Israel and the Palestinian territories for years, released a measured yet pointed response:

If coronavirus restrictions on religious services are enforced while anti-racism mass protests are allowed, are the lockdowns still valid? And has the rule of law vanished?

The United States Supreme Court ruled last week that religious services were not exempt from government restrictions on free assembly in a pandemic. Only a few days later, what might have seemed like fair interpretation of the law may no longer seem quite so reasonable.

The government’s failure to cope with many of the mass protests and riots that followed the murder of an African-American man by a Minneapolis policeman has further undermined faith in the rule of law that had been rocked by the COVID-19 outbreak. The result is that the already shaky credibility of our elected leaders to navigate both of these crises seems to have evaporated.

The 5-4 ruling issued in the case of South Bay United Pentecostal Church v. Gavin Newsom, Governor of California, stated that California’s rules prohibiting religious services during the coronavirus pandemic were not unconstitutional.
