From Israel: Balancing the Bitter and the Sweet!!

Peloni:  Arlene captures the mix of joy and frustration from the 12 Day War, along with the apprehension for what is to come next.

The need for this balancing act is a simple fact of life. But our current situation has thrown this reality into sharp relief.

On June 24th, after 12 days of fighting, our war with Iran ended. Or, perhaps more accurately, it “sort of” ended: In the opinion of many, the ending was premature. Trump declared a ceasefire while our planes were in the air headed for an attack on Iranian military targets – an attack that never took place.

Surprise, deception, warning and war

Peloni:  Lessons by which success and survival are pursued.

Like the 1967 Six-Day War, the conflict with Iran relied heavily on air power, surprise, denial and deception.

A B-2 Spirit stealth bomber returns to Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., after completing a forward deployment to Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory, May 9, 2025. The deployment, which lasted several weeks, was part of a routine Bomber Task Force mission designed to project U.S. global power and strengthen partnerships with regional allies. While stationed at Diego Garcia, the B-2 and its supporting aircrew conducted strategic deterrence missions, long-range training sorties and integration exercises with joint and coalition forces. All warfare is based on deception. Offer the enemy a bait to lure him. … Be seen in the West and march out of the East; lure him in the North and strike him in the South. Drive him crazy and bewilder him so that he disperses his forces in confusion.

Congress and the Antisemitism Crisis

An indifference that allows Jew-hate to grow in the dark.

by

The civil rights scholar Kenneth Marcus has just appeared before a Congressional committee hearing on “America’s Battle Against Antisemitic Terror.” His testimony on the seemingly inexorable rise of violent antisemitism across the land is blood-curdling. More about Marcus, and his plea for congressional action, together with chilling examples of antisemitism, can be found here: “Jewish Civil Rights Scholar Urges US Congress to Respond to Antisemitism Crisis,” by Dion J. Pierre, Algemeiner, June 27, 2025:

Ukraine Mess: Finding a Way Forward

Peloni:  This is an important article.  Ukraine has always faced an impossible future as it has no path towards victory due to its deficiencies in men, morale & munitions, yet it has a govt which will settle for nothing less than complete victory.  This latter point has driven Ukraine to tempt fate, before February 2022 and ever since.  Of course, Bryen’s proposals are good starting points from which Trump might gain some interest from Putin, but the threats which prevented Zelensky from pursuing a more moderate course throughout his presidency has not been abated, making any effort towards, or in compliance with, Bryen’s proposals quite hazardous to consider.  As Ukraine is approaching its last act in the days, weeks, or months to come, it will take real courage from a real leader to save Ukraine from its current path of destruction, and if Zelensky had such courage and skill to make such choices, we would have to ask why we are where we are today.

The recent massive bombings on Ukrainian territory and advances by the Russian army are harbingers of the end game that will befall Ukraine unless that country can find a way out. One solution is to make Ukraine a flexible actor, meaning to insulate Zelensky. The best way to do that is a coalition government to carry the burden of negotiations with Russia.

Palestinian state: advancing or undermining US interests?

Peloni:  An important analysis which looks at US interests as the driving force for what should be US policy in preventing the creation of another Palestinian Arab state.

Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, “Second Thought: a US-Israel Initiative” | July 3, 2025

The US position on the proposed Palestinian state – just like on any other issue – should be driven by US interests, and not by pro-Israel or pro-Arab sentiments, nor by an honest broker state of mind.

Would a Palestinian state advance, or undermine, US interests?

Dismantling the Settler Violence Narrative: Facts the Media Won’t Tell You

Peloni:  The focused effort to delegitimize the hilltop youth movement, along with recent audio recordings demonstrating the weaponization of the law against these activists, should call into question the recent rush to judgement against the hilltop youths.  Prosecution, not persecution, should be the limit and expectation of the law, and nothing more or less.

“Redemptive Antisemitism” aims to rid the world of Israel and all Jews

There is no Jewish conspiracy to dominate the world, but there is a widespread global anti-Jewish conspiracy based on the principles of “Redemptive Antisemitism”.

We are witnessing the rebirth of Nazi era inspired “Redemptive Antisemitism” which believes that all the world’s problems are solved by exterminating and purifying humanity through annihilating Jews everywhere.

All you have to do is listen to the chants at the Glastonbury Festival, preceded by thousands of anti-Israel Jew-haters who demonstrate on the campuses of American Universities or on the streets of major urban cities everywhere in the United States. The very same slogans were shouted out by an illegal Egyptian Muslim immigrant as he attacked Jews in Boulder Colorado with flame blowers and fire bombs, one of whom died of her wounds this week, and by a leftist extremist as he shot point blank and murdered two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D. C. as they were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum.

Syria wants 1/3 of Golan Heights for Israel peace – exclusive

Peloni:  Al Jolani proposes that Israel return either 1/3 or 2/3 of Golan for peace deal.  Israel should counter this offer with a proposal of Syria giving Israel 1/3 of Syria, in deference to the Syrian minorities which Israel is protecting from being annihilated by Jolani’s forces.

FDD Connects Anti-Israel Network on Social Media to Iranian Website, Pro-Regime Actor

Max Lesser | July 1, 2025

The “Iran Hayom” network posts anti-Israel propaganda, in Hebrew and English, across X, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, and YouTube. Its name is a play on the widely read Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, which publishes in Hebrew at israelhayom[.]co[.]il and whose English website is israelhayom[.]com. The Iran Hayom logo even borrows design elements from Israel Hayom. An Israeli reader scrolling casually through their feed might even read Iran Hayom content and think the Israeli paper had posted it.

Can Ukraine Survive Russia’s Summer Offensive?

Peloni:  Changes on the ground, and not just around Pokrovsk, was what fueled Putin’s refusal of Trump’s requests in a phone call on July 3.  Ukraine is in a desperate position, with the territorial losses gaining steam over time, with Russia territorial advancements breaking records in June without dispute.  The comment of drip, drip, flood is the only possible consequence to Urkaine’s deficits in men, munitions and morale.  Adding to the territorial gains, the innovative and penalizing attacks against Russia proper has left the Russians with little interest in conceding their advantage over Ukraine.

Trump’s BBB just passed by Senate will massively expand the digital biometric surveillance state for years to come

Peloni:  Recalling the intense debate over the renewal of the FISA authorization during Trump’s first term, the far less significant conversation over the BBB’s expanding the surveillance state in America is important to note.  Liberty is by nature a diminishing quality, something which must be constantly defended and tested to remain upheld.  As the world looked very different in the wake of the Patriot Act, the world will look very different in the wake of the BBB.  And subsequent generations will find it impossible to grasp exactly what they lost due to the current inattentiveness to maintain the liberties which are being swallowed whole in this bill.  And of course, what begins in Washington never remains exclusively in Washington…

Bill allocates billions for digital tracking systems nationwide, mostly under the guise of ‘border security.’ All major state and federal highways will be monitored 24/7 in real time.

Leo Hohmann | Jul 02, 2025

The Senate version of H.R. 1, otherwise known as the One Big Beautiful Bill, reflects an aggressive expansion of AI-driven federal biometric surveillance infrastructure under the Trump administration’s second term.

The website Biometric Update, which reports on all things digital and biometric, posted an article on June 30 that points out how President Trump’s BBB will expand the digital surveillance state exponentially and place the U.S. on an irreversible course toward a biometric slave state that tracks the movement of everyone, everywhere.

How an Israeli Woman Infiltrated Iran’s Leaders. What She Revealed Is Shocking

Peloni:  There are many current reports on the unbelievable feats of Catherine Perez-Shakdam, but I think this one captures a greater context than most, while also raising remaining questions which linger after reading of her incredible movement into the most inner circles of the Iranian regime.  In fact, the questions which are raised at the end of this video are what drew my interest in looking closer into what is known of Perez-Shakdam, but the honest truth is that there the answers to these questions remain somewhat unclear.  In any event, if she was acting on behalf of the Mossad or out of a resolve to deal with the antisemitism which she grew up with, she is an amazing woman, and her reports on the inside conversations with the leadership of the Mullahs were incredibly important, even if she did not have a hand in what took place by Israel inside Iran over the past many years.
