Ghosts of a Holy War

Peloni:  Schwartz’ Ghosts of a Holy War is a highly recommended book for its reminder that ignoring history will only lead to its retelling in great and terrible ways in future ages.

Jonathan Feldstein

With the anniversary of the Six Day War and reunification of Jerusalem in 1967 this week, I was reminded about the liberation of, and Jewish return to Hebron for the first time that year since 1929 when 67 Jews were massacred.

‘Hamas Wants to Control the Food’: Israel Again Accused of Shooting Gazans Near Aid Site as Three Israeli Soldiers Killed in Jabalia

FDD | June 4, 2025

Latest Developments

  • Three Israeli Soldiers Killed: A roadside bomb killed three Israeli soldiers and wounded two others on June 2 during IDF operations in northern Gaza. The casualties were named as combat medics Staff Sgt. Lior Steinberg, 20, Staff Sgt. Ofek Barhana, 20, and squad commander Staff Sgt. Omer Van Gelder, 22 — all members of the Givati Brigade. The soldiers’ Humvee took a direct hit from one of more than 20 explosive devices planted along the road near Jabalia while escorting an army fire truck out of Gaza.
  • Claims of Casualties at Aid Site: The Red Cross and the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry claimed on June 3 that at least 27 Palestinians were killed near a Safe Distribution Site run by the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) near Khan Younis. The IDF did not confirm any casualties but stated that IDF troops fired “near individual suspects” who continued to approach the site outside of the designated safe corridor despite troops initially firing warning shots. Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said, “Hamas wants to control the food, and through it, to control the people,” by sending “young people to riot” and “shoot at Gazans making their way to the sites.”

Iran is preparing to reject US nuclear deal proposal, as Iran ‘diplomat’ calls it a ‘non-starter’

Peloni: The only purpose for Iran in these negotiations is to ignore any binding effort to block their nuclear ambitions, and to try to get Washington to accept an interim agreement, permanently, such that they will keep their nuclear capabilities and only pause their nuclear enrichment while maintaining US restraint on Israel indefinitely.  The only question is whether Trump will move towards such a posture of mimicking the policy failures which he ridiculed before coming to office.  The answer to this question will determine the fate of the Iranians, the Israelis and the Americans, all at the same time.

By

The White House presented the new deal as a ‘‘detailed and acceptable proposal,” but it does not suffice for the Islamic Republic of Iran. Of course this should not be a surprise to anyone. The Islamic Republic will not agree to any deal that has any possibility whatsoever of restraining the Islamic regime.

Will Ukraine or Russia Win the war?

Peloni:  Ukraine’s continued grandstanding campaigns can not erase the deficiency in their manpower, munitions and morale.  They simply can not win this war.

Not Like Pearl Harbor

Stephen Bryen | Weapons & Strategy | Jun 03, 2025

In any case, the actual ground war in Ukraine is increasingly favoring the Russians, who are slowly tightening the noose on Kiev’s forces.

The latest drone attack is Ukraine’s emerging strategy to raise the cost of the war to the Russians, hoping either that they will get a better deal from Moscow, or more likely, persuade their American and European sponsors to actually join the fighting.

INTO THE FRAY: Israel on the cusp of civil war?

Peloni:  Martin provides a clarion call for the mounting levels of insanity which are taking form as insurrection against the legitimately elected Israeli govt, and the need to recognize the terrible consequences which might result if these outrages continue to be left to fester as if they do not represent a clear and present threat to the nation’s survival.

By MARTIN SHERMAN

The only way to prevent a civil war in Israel is to acknowledge its impending outbreak, so that steps can be taken to forestall it.

Israel is on the brink of civil war. An irreconcilable rift is beginning to open up between rival segments of Israeli society, which no amount of unilateral goodwill can amicably bridge. The tectonic fault lines, threatening to split the nation’s societal fabric asunder, center on Benjamin Netanyahu’s tenacious hold on power, despite multiple attempts to pry it loose.

Weaponizing the legal system

Having seemingly despaired of the possibility of defeating him at the polls, his adversaries have turned—more clumsily than not—to weaponising the legal system as a means of realizing their political goals.

The Grand Deception of Islam as a Religion of Peace

Peloni:  Highly recommended article.

By Janet Levy | Am Thinker | June 3, 2025

Image created using AI.

A database search of 12 million books published in the 300 years before 9/11 reveals only one instance of the phrase “Islam is a religion of peace.” It appears in fiction and is spoken by Ayatollah Mahmoud Haji Daryaei, an Iranian leader in Tom Clancy’s thriller Executive Orders.

Palestine, Back to the Future

By Ted Belman | (Originally published January 29, 2012)

There was a time when the lands now known as Israel (including Judea and Samaria and Gaza) and Jordan were called “Palestine.”  In fact, the Balfour Declaration of 1917 declared that “His Majesty’s government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.”

There followed considerable cooperation between the Jews, represented by Chaim Weizmann, and the Arabs living in Mespotamia, now Iraq and Jordan, represented by Emir Feisal.  As a result, the Feisal-Weizman Agreement was signed in January 1919, in which it was agreed that the Jews would get the lands lying west of the Jordan River watershed to the Mediterranean.

IRS Lets Terror Fundraiser That Praised D.C. Attack Get Tax-Exempt Donations

Peloni:  The taxing authority is used to help focus public expenditures towards a successful desired outcome.  While it might be seen to be debatable as to whether this is an appropriate use of this authority, it is inexplicable that increasing support for terrorism should be counted as normative or even tolerable goal of any govt, much less one such as the US which has had thousands killed as a consequence of terrorist activities over the years, and the innocents who are to be counted as victims of terror continue to increase, most recently with the execution of Hersh Goldberg-Polin.

One part of the Treasury Department sanctions a terror front group while another helps fund it.

Turkey, Crimea, and the Neo-Pan-Turkic Empire

Peloni:  The West is building its own demise thru policies of ignorance and miscalculations, and arguably nowhere is this more clear than with its efforts to support Erdogan’s fantasies of a neo Ottoman empire.

By | June 2, 2025

After meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara, Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky announced that the Turkish president considers Crimea “Ukrainian.” Western media were touched by the “firm position” of the Turkish leader and his support for the “collective democratic West” in opposing the Russian invasion.

Trump’s “Control Grid”: 3 Steps He’s Using to Enslave Americans | Catherine Fitts

Janet Levy: Trump is moving with breakneck speed to achieve central control.

He is implementing Real ID and creating an all digital financial system that cancels cash and paper tax returns. The Genius Act implements Stable Coin through the owners of the Federal Reserve, NOT Congress.

The purpose of DOGE was NOT to cut the federal budget as was the pitch. DOGE built a centralized AI-accessible data grid by pulling data from the Treasury, the IRS, Social Security and Health and Human Services. This is a centralized grid to make government databases “talk to each other” – the foundation for the social credit system.

Mark Levin Shows for May 31 & June 1

Peloni:  In his opening segment, Mark discusses the recent ruling by the US Court of International Trade which ruled against Trump’s use of emergency powers to address the economic crisis in the US.  Mark explains that the core of the ruling is based upon the concept and practice of separations of power, and even the court itself addresses this fact.  The problem with acknowledging this fact, however, is that Congress is not only not supporting the complaint in the case, but that there is no material Congressional objection to Trump exercising the emergency powers.  Mark also raises the point that Congress has not even attempted to draw back the powers delegated to the president in a bill which was signed into law back in 1977, further demonstrating that Congress has no objections to Trump’s actions on this topic.  While stating that the case is a dispute between executive and legislative powers, the Trade Court ignores the fact that there is no dispute between the executive and legislative branches, as the case in question is exclusively based on private complaints, which begs the question from where does the court draw its authority to intercede in a the president exercising the authority empowered to the presidency by the legislature some 50yrs ago.
