The struggle between Israelization and Islamization in eastern Jerusalem

T. Belman. The Arabs are almost a majority in Jerusalem. Israel must find a way to prevent them from becoming a majority. That’s why there is talk about excluding three Arab communities that are part of Jerusalem but outside the fence and talk about expanding Jerusalem even further to strengthen the Jewish majority.

By Nadav Shragai, ISRAEL HAYOM

“A great drama is taking place in East Jerusalem,” says Dr. David Koren, Advisor to the Mayor of Jerusalem for Arab and East Jerusalem affairs, just before he finishes one of the less routine posts in the public service and retires. Koren says that the saga of 400,000 Arabs in East Jerusalem is reaching a peak right now. He calls it “a historic watershed. Nationalism there is in full retreat. It is giving way to two main contradictory alternative allegiances that are gaining strength in East Jerusalem and competing with each other: Israelization on the one hand and Islamization on the other. The fateful choice between these two identities is now becoming clear,” he says.

Koren, 41, a former head of the Middle East branch in the National Security Council in the Prime Minister’s Office, bases his assessments on thousands of hours of talks with the residents and their leadership – parents’ committees, educators, and local committees – and on the mileage he accumulated in eight years in his job at the side of Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat.

Sharia court in Israel places Jewish girl in Arab custody

Anti-assimilation group challenges decision to grant full custody of Israeli Jewish girl to her Arab grandmother, despite mother’s protests.

By David Rosenberg, INN

Yasmin

An anti-assimilation group in Israel says it has challenged a decision issued by a state Islamic court in Israel which awarded full custody of a Jewish girl to her Arab grandmother, despite the objections of the girl’s mother.

According to the Yad L’Achim organization – which works to counter efforts to missionize Jews in Israel and to combat assimilation – a state Sharia court which serves Israel’s Muslim minority population awarded custody of a two-year-old Israeli girl, named Yasmin, to her Arab grandmother.

The Flaw in Most Highly Educated Citizens of America

By Prof. Paul Eidelberg

Americans spend an enormous amount of money for the education of their youth. Hardly anyone draws a connection between the lack of moral content of this education, as articulated in the social sciences and the humanities, and America’s decline as a world power.  Let me illustrate this phenomenon by means of the character of former President Barack Obama.

Mr. Obama has been called an “Empty Suit.” This may be construed to mean that Obama is a deceptively “Invisible Man” in a visible suit. What made him invisible apparently from the outset of his political career is that he had no clear cut or substantive national identity.  Consistent therewith, he called himself a “cosmopolitan,” which literally means a man without a country!

Twenty-five years after Oslo, the PLO is dying

By Vic Rosenthal, ABU YAHUDA

Ari Fuld, z”l

Almost exactly 25 years ago, on September 13, 1993, Israel committed the greatest single strategic mistake in its 70-year history by signing the “Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements,” otherwise known as the Oslo I Accord.

The disaster of Oslo still reverberates today, when it claimed yet another of its thousands of Jewish and Arab victims with the murder of Ari Fuld, a Jewish father of four who was stabbed to death at Gush Etzion Junction, a site of numerous terror attacks, by a young man born in the years after Oslo and educated to be a human murder weapon by the educational system set up for that purpose by our Oslo partner Yasser Arafat.

Trump freezes PA’s bank accounts

Al-Jazeera reports that the administration has decided to immediately close all bank accounts linked to the PA and PLO across the US.

By Elad Benari, INN

Donald Trump

The United States is intensifying its pressure on the Palestinian Authority (PA). The Al-Jazeeranetwork reported on Sunday evening that the US administration has decided to immediately close all bank accounts linked to the PA or the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in banks across the United States.

The US is not confirming the report at the moment, but the State Department hinted last week after the closure of the PLO’s mission in Washington that there would be further steps against the Palestinian Arabs.

“Palestine” to Deny Citizenship to 45 Percent of its Palestinian Residents

T. Belman. No surprise here. That’s why the PA has frozen their refugee status from day one. The PA argues they have a right to return to Israel, where they came from. This is a complete lie.

By Evelyn Gordon, COMMENTARY

It’s eminently fitting the woman the Palestinian Authority chose to formally launch its statehood bid is a proud mother of five murderers, of whom one is now dead while the other four are serving life sentences in Israel. After all, a woman who teaches her sons to kill Israelis even at the expense of their own welfare is the perfect emblem of a Palestinian state dedicated to destroying Israel even at the expense of its people’s welfare. And if that accusation seems far-fetched, just consider the shocking interview the PLO’s ambassador to Lebanon, Abdullah Abdullah, gave the Lebanese Daily Star last week:

The ambassador unequivocally says that Palestinian refugees would not become citizens of the sought for U.N.-recognized Palestinian state…

Palestinian official: Abbas needs to ‘rethink’ path in face of US measures

Official in Ramallah lists steps the Trump administration has taken against the Palestinians and asks, “What more needs to happen for the office of the rais [president] to realize that Trump doesn’t just make promises or threats – he carries them out?”

By Daniel Siryoti, ISRAEL HAYOM

A series of recent U.S. steps against the Palestinian Authority have infuriated the Palestinian leadership, but the outrage directed at the U.S. administration has been amplified by growing criticism directed at Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who has made “every possible mistake” since President Donald Trump entered the White House, according to a senior Palestinian official who spoke to Israel Hayom.

The official said that Abbas – fearing additional American sanctions on the PA – has instructed the Palestinians to “stop attacking [U.S. President Donald] Trump and the administration in Washington and to moderate statements against the U.S.”

Why equality doesn’t belong in the nation-state law

T. Belman. Gordon says “equality” should be left out from the Nation-state law, as it has, because to include it would elevate democracy over Jewish. She said that the currrent law seeks parity between both.

I am not satisfied with Parity because that would leave it to the Court to decide between the two.  They could always favour democracy.

By Evelyn Gordon

Ever since Israel’s nation-state law was enacted in July, one constant refrain has sounded: The law should have included a provision guaranteeing equality to all Israelis. It’s not only the law’s opponents who say this; so do many of its supporters, liberals and conservatives alike. But they are wrong.

Adding a provision about equality to the nation-state law sounds innocuous because civic and political equality is already implicitly guaranteed through the 1992 Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty. Basic Laws are Israel’s closest approximation to constitutional legislation, and the 1992 law, which protects the “dignity of any person as such,” has been consistently interpreted by the courts as enshrining equality on the grounds that discrimination violates a person’s dignity. So what harm could it do to offer an explicit guarantee in the Basic Law: Israel as the Nation-State of the Jewish People?

Syrian Kurds remain a thorny issue between Turkey and the US

By Emanuele Scimia, ASIA TIMES

The Syrian government’s announced offensive against rebel-held Idlib province could further complicate an already tense relationship between Turkey and the United States, both members of the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization, if Kurdish armed militias were to join the battle alongside the forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad of Syria.

It has been reported by Turkish and European media that Kurdish People’s Protection Forces (YPG) fighters, whom the Turks consider affiliated to the rebel PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) movement in Turkey, may help the Assad regime and its Russian and Iranian allies retake Idlib.

US Democrats to Palestinians: We Won’t Fight Your War”

DEBKA

A Palestinian bid to harness their case against President Donald Trump to the US Democrats’ midterm election campaign was spurned, DEBKAfile reports exclusively. “Operation Democratic Party” was launched at secret sessions led by Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) at his Ramallah headquarters with military precision. These sessions took place during recent weeks, before Trump landed his final blow on Friday, Sept. 14, by shutting down the last US $10 million allocation, this one dedicated to an Israeli-Palestinian friendship program. He left in place only the part for promoting relations between Israeli Arabs and Israel Jews.

Kushner Says he is abandoning false realities

T. Belman. Robert Malley is quoted as saying that by punishing the Palestinians, Trump is releasing them from their Oslo shackles. On the contrary they never abided by the shackles. The problem was that they were never held accountable.

By Mark Lander, NYT

“Nobody is entitled to America’s foreign aid,” Jared Kushner said.

WASHINGTON — Three days after the Trump administration evicted the Palestine Liberation Organization from its offices in Washington, Jared Kushner defended the latest in a string of punitive actions against the Palestinians and insisted that none of them had diminished the chances of a peace accord between Israel and the Palestinians.

Speaking on Thursday, 25 years to the day after the Oslo peace accords were signed on the White House lawn not far from his West Wing office, Mr. Kushner said President Trump had actually improved the chances for peace by stripping away the “false realities” that surround Middle East peacemaking.

How a Herman Wouk novel shaped the debate over removing an unfit president

T. Belman. To implicitly compare Pres Trump’s fitness to command with that of Queeg’s is ridiculous. Pres Trump has an impressive list of accomplishments to his credit. That in itself proves his competance. It is scandelous that the Democrats say otherwise.

Also Greenwald’s argument that past accomplishments or acts should entitle Queeq to unquestioned support is also ridiculous.

The 25th Amendment to the US Constitution got a little inspiration from a passionate Jewish lawyer in ‘The Caine Mutiny’

By Ron Kampeas, JTA

[..]

Herman Wouk’s 1951 novel is about a group of Navy officers who remove a volatile captain from his command of a minesweeper when he freezes up during a typhoon. The officers are tried for mutiny and acquitted. The Pulitzer Prize-winning book, the subsequent play and the 1954 movie made “Captain Queeg” a byword for erratic leadership.

Humphrey Bogart earned an Oscar nomination for his performance as Queeg, who nervously spins a pair of ball bearings in his hand and obsesses about missing strawberries before breaking down on the witness stand.

The moment of truth for EU policy on Israel-Palestine

T. Belman. For those unfamiliar with +972, it is virulenlty anti-Israel

Whether European states follow through on their threats and warnings over the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar will determine a great deal about the EU’s relevance and its ability to influence Israeli policy vis-a-vis the Palestinians.

European powers are going to have to make a crucial choice in the coming week. Two months after five EU states reportedly warned Israel that the demolition and forced displacement of Khan al-Ahmar would trigger a reaction from its allies, the Israeli Supreme Court on Wednesday gave its final stamp of approval for the demolition to go ahead.

Along with the southern West Bank hamlet of Susya, the EU has touted Khan al-Ahmar as one of a few, seemingly arbitrary red lines in Israel’s decades-long policy of demolishing Palestinian homes and expanding its settlement enterprise in the occupied territory (for an explanation why, read Edo Konrad’s interview with Jerusalem expert Daniel Seidemann). Diplomats arrive in convoys whenever the small, dilapidated villages in ‘Area C’ are on the verge of being destroyed. Statements of condemnation, and occasional warnings, are fired into the ether.

Trump squeezes UNRWA, checkmates PLO and incentivises Jordan

T. Belman. What is worthy of note is that he is doing all this without even tabling his vaunted Deal of the Century.

By

President Trump has created a veritable diplomatic tsunami affecting the political fortunes of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), Hamas and Jordan – with his decision to cease all future donations to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) – currently US$360million per annum and comprising about 30% of UNRWA’s budget.

The numbers of UNRWA-registered Palestinian Arab refugees in Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza have been increasing in leaps and bounds annually because they include all the descendants of those Palestinian Arabs caught up in the 1948 and 1967 Arab-Israel wars.

UK Political Party Leader Banned By Twitter After Mentioning Muslim Grooming Gangs
UK political party leader Anne Marie Waters was permanently banned by Twitter after she questioned why a police force was wasting its time monitoring offensive tweets when it should be prosecuting Muslim grooming gangs.

The controversy began when South Yorkshire Police posted a tweet asking people to “report non-crime hate incidents, which can include things like offensive or insulting comments, online, in person or in writing.”

Upcoming Iran sanctions will ‘fundamentally’ change how nations do business with regime

WASHINGTON – Ahead of the second round of American sanctions on Iran in November since the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned on Friday that those measures will drastically change the way any business is done with the regime.

“Make no mistake, come November 4th, there will be a fundamentally different set of rules on anyone who deems it necessary to engage in economic activity with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.

Pompeo added that countries, especially in Europe, have already seen the ramifications of engaging with the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.

Trump isn’t ‘unpredictable.’ He’s doing everything he said he would

There has never been a more predictable, more steadfast or more constant president than Donald J. Trump

By Lawrence Solomon, NATIONAL POST

U.S. President Donald Trump’s critics — these days led by Anonymous, author of a New York Times op-ed and Bob Woodward, author of a new Trump book — accuse him of being an “erratic,” “unpredictable leader” who inhabits “an alternate universe” that will destroy the economy, end the Western alliance and start World War III.

What planet do these critics inhabit? There has never been a more predictable, more steadfast or more constant president than Donald J. Trump. In public policy, he is the gold standard in staying the course.
