A new poll carried out by Geocartography showed that if elections were held today, the leading Likud party would receive 34 Knesset seats.

These results represent the Likud’s highest number since elections were held in 2015, Israel Hayom noted.

The poll, conducted at the Likud’s request, showed that Yair Lapid’s “Yesh Atid” party would receive 20 Knesset seats instead of its current 11, and the Jewish Home party would jump from its current 8 seats to 14 seats.

Meanwhile, the Zionist Union would receive 12 seats, representing half its current number.

The Knesset Subcommittee for Judea and Samaria chaired by MK Moti Yogev (Jewish Home) discussed on Tuesday the state of the water economy and water theft in Judea and Samaria.

During the discussion, the Civil Administration representative revealed that each year, local Arabs steal more than 6 million cubic meters of water in Judea and Samaria.

“The summer’s problems are acute, and in many places, such as the Jordan Valley, Kedumim, and other places, residents drank water from tankers, bags and bottles,” Yogev said. “Apart from building a master plan for water, we need plans for the coming years and the coming summer, as well as the status of enforcement against water thefts.”

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu warned the Syrian regime on Monday against entering the Afrin province in northern Syria.

Also on Monday, a Syrian state media reported that Syrian “popular forces” would enter the province to support the “steadfastness of their people in the face of aggression carried out by the forces of the Turkish regime.”

The potential conflict between Turkey and Syria comes a month after Turkey launched a major offensive into northern Syria, aimed at removing the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), who it labels as terrorists, from its border. The US has continually urged restraint and said Ankara’s operation is a distraction from the war against Islamic State.

Senior official threatens to destroy Tel Aviv if Israel takes military action against Tehran, following Netanyahu’s words in Munich.

Tel Aviv will be “leveled to the ground” if Israel attacks Iran, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not escape with his life, a senior official in the Islamic republic’s regime threatened.

His comments came in response to Netanyahu’s speech on Sunday at the Munich Security Conference, in which the prime minister brandished a piece of an Iranian drone downed in Israeli airspace and threatened direct military action against Iran.

“About Netanyahu’s unwise words, I should say that if they carry out the slightest unwise move against Iran, we will level Tel Aviv to the ground,” Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council and former chief of the country’s Revolutionary Guards, told the Hezbollah-affiliated Arabic-language al-Manar TV channel Monday.

The prime minister’s weakness is going to mean that the rules will change, and even if new elections are called, whether before or after the Attorney General’s decision, he will have to convince the voter to vote for him, even though he is suspected or accused of wrongdoing.

In the immediate phase, Eldad Yaniv and Meni Naftali’s great plan did not succeed. Strategically, the demonstrations that they led were supposed to end with the prime minister announcing his resignation as a result of the recommendations issued by the Israel Police. But
Netanyahu acted according to his own scenario, and meanwhile he has managed to maintain order in the party and the coalition. In the process, however, he has paid a heavy price as a result of the investigations, and since Wednesday, he has been living in a new and not so wonderful world.

A court in Cairo has ruled that the Egyptian gas companies must pay East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) $1.033 billion in compensation.

The court also ruled that Egypt, through the gas companies, violated its trade treaty with Poland, thereby having a negative impact on the investment of EMG co-owner Josef Maiman, who filed the lawsuit as a Polish citizen.

The damages awarded by the court come on top of $324 million awarded by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in an arbitration procedure, which has not yet been paid.

The liquidator for Ampal-American Israel Corporation said, “We now expect other arbitration institutions (ICSID and UNCITRAL) that previously decided in favor of EMG to issue rulings on compensation.”

Gas operators ‘Delek Drilling’ and ‘Noble Energy’ announced on Monday that it has signed agreements with Egyptian Company ‘Dolphin Energy’ worth an estimated $15 billion.

The operators of the Tamar and Leviathan natural-gas fields have signed decade-long contracts to sell $15 billion worth of natural gas to Egypt, according to documents made public by Delek Drilling LP on Monday, a sign of strengthening diplomatic ties.

The companies that operate the fields, which include Israel’s Delek Drilling and Houston-based Noble Energy Inc. among other smaller partners, reached an agreement with Egyptian company Dolphinus to ship the gas over the first 10 years after production starts and no later than 2030.

With the news, Israel will now be providing both Egypt and Jordan with natural gas, cementing ties with its two neighbors despite historically “cold” peace treaties.

When six years ago, the US tried to mediate the dispute over Block 9, which straddles the maritime waters of Lebanon and Israel (offering 60 percent to Lebanon; 40 percent to Israel), Russia, Iran and Hizballah had not yet intervened militarily in that early stage of the Syrian civil war. At the time, too, the US controlled Middle East energy markets and Israel cherished the belief that its offshore gas and oil fields were rich enough to supply Europe’s annual consumption and make the Jewish state a Middle East energy power.

The roadside bomb was not the only novelty at the Gaza border Saturday. A coordinated attack on Israel seems to be in the works.

On Saturday, Hamas took a page out of Hezbollah’s playbook for wars with Israel by launching a sophisticated roadside bomb attack on an IDF jeep patrolling the Gaza border.

The Israel Defense Forces later revealed the patrol was hit by two improvised explosive devices (IED’s) which were detonated by remote control, a tactic used by Hezbollah during the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon.

One IED was connected to a flag pole displaying the Palestinian flag that had been attached to the security fence during a large demonstration by Palestinian Arabs on the Gazan border last Friday. A second large device had been buried in the ground during the same protest which was organized by the Popular Resistance Committees in Gaza.

The news is abuzz with the decision of the United States to withhold 65 million dollars from the United Nations Relief Agency (“UNRWA”) that was created supposedly to help Palestinian Arab refugees. Like many United Nations activities, this so-called “relief agency” was set up for the wrong reasons and has become a tool of third world terrorists.

Palestine was the name given to the region occupied by modern Jordan and Israel by the Romans when they crushed the Jewish nation. They wanted to wipe out the Jewish presence from the Holy Land forever. Fortunately for the world, this did not occur and the presence of Jews in Israel, including Judea and Samaria, continued unabated.

T. Belman. This is an excellent synopsis of the feelings and desires of the Palestinian Israeli Citizens though it makes no mention of the lawlessness of the Arab communities or their unwillingness to pay taxes or otherwise conform to the rules which apply to all Israelis.

I would also have mentioned the fact that Muslims have been educated from the beginning to feel superior to the infidels and to require dhimmi status or death for them.  They don’t take easily the idea of being a minority or subservient. That’s why they cause so much trouble wherever them emigrate to. Look at Europe.

I for one do not want the Sisyphean task of attempting more integration. I see the problem as systemic and intractable. The only solution I see is for Arabs to emigrate but what countries would accept them and their baggage.

I would take an “undemocratic” Jewish state over a democratic bi-national state,  anytime. The latter is a proscription for endless strife.

While the world’s focus has been on the intractable Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the assumption has been that dealing with the needs of Arab citizens of Israel would be eminently easier

A settler leader says the number of settlers in the West Bank grew at nearly twice the rate of Israel’s overall population last year.

Yaakov Katz says the settler population reached over 435,000 people last year, up 3.4 percent from the previous year. In comparison, Israel’s overall population grew 1.8 percent.

Katz says he expects even more construction now that President Donald Trump is in office. Trump’s Mideast team is dominated by settler allies, and Katz says there is a friendly atmosphere after eight contentious years with the Obama White House.

Federal abuses on Obama’s watch represent a growing blight on his legacy

In all of the discussions about the political weaponization of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI, alleged corruption at the highest echelons of those agencies and serial abuse of the secret FISA process surrounding the 2016 election, one name has been conspicuously absent: President Barack Obama.

High-ranking officials and other major players in those agencies — which Obama oversaw — are increasingly embroiled in the growing scandal: James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Andrew McCabe, Andrew Weissmann, Sally Yates, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bruce Ohr.

Given the tight control Obama exercised over every part of his administration and agenda, the idea that any of these appointees and loyalists freelanced their activities without at least his tacit approval or that of his White House strains credulity.

The seeds of the idea of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria that were planted years ago by a few people of steadfast faith have begun to sprout, and this week, their branches reached all the way to the prime minister. There is still a long way to go, but we have begun the journey.

It all starts here. Always remember this. All of the initiatives, ideas and innovations begin here, in this country. They win international recognition afterwards. It is the same with sovereignty. There has been some movement over time, but apparently, this week it moved another few centimeters. The phrase “the application of sovereignty” is no longer considered jarring. Everyone is talking about sovereignty, and even if they do not agree – they are talking about it and considering it. Suddenly, the topic of sovereignty has become a realistic possibility, a subject for debate, and for quite some time has ceased to be considered delusional, but is perceived as a serious alternative.

Israel is not the problem, the Arabs themselves do not want a state.

When the Palestine Liberation Organization, the PLO, was formed in 1964 – three years before Israel repossessed Judea, Samaria, and Gaza – it was not the goal of the PLO’s sponsor, Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, to establish a Palestinian state in Eretz Israel.

Not only was there no such thing as a Palestinian – unless that term described both Jews and Arabs living under British authority during the period of the mandate – but Nasser had pan-Arab ambitions which entailed the liquidation of the “Zionist” state and its incorporation into Egypt.

If further proof is wanted that a Palestinian state was never really on the agenda of the PLO, only recall how Yasser Arafat rejected Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s offer of 95% of Judea and Samaria, including eastern Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. Barak even agreed to an initial return of 100,000 Arab refugees!

T. Belman. Ahrens recommends removing the wall where it divides the city. Israel’s choice is to either to exclude the residents of these areas within Jerusalem, to stop the population from burgeoning or to permanently exclude them from Israel and Jerusalem residency. Of course the residents would still be allowed to work at their jobs in Jerusalem just as other Palestinians in JUdea and Samaria work in Jerusalem. Many of them will try to find housing inside what is left of Jerusalem thereby pushing housing costs even higher.

But I don’t see how the existence of the dividing wall causes an outflow of Jewish residents from Jerusalem.

I think that this issue must be viewed from the point of view of whether we are headed to a two state solution in which case, I say keep the wall or a one state solution, in which case the wall is irrelevant. But if you believe in maintaining the status quo, this issue must be dealt with.

Concerns about demographics shouldn’t lead to a division of Jerusalem, but rather to measures that would stem the outflow of Jewish residents from the city

In one of the impetuous acts he was known for, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon approved the building of a wall — the separation barrier — within the municipal boundaries of Jerusalem, Israel’s capital, separating the Shoafat refugee camp and the Kafr Aqab neighborhood from the rest of Jerusalem. Like the infamous Berlin Wall, it divided one part of the city from the other.

The result causes great inconvenience to the local people, who must go through checkpoints to enter Jerusalem’s other areas. This includes not only those who work in Jerusalem’s other areas but also children attending schools away from where their families reside.
