Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Tuesday that Donald Trump had the upper hand over Hillary Clinton in last night’s debate and that it was his strongest debate performance so far. He also said the media’s focus on the birther issue is “amusing” because American voters don’t “give a flying flip about” it.

The Texas senator joined conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt Tuesday morning to discuss the debate and his recent, long-awaited endorsement of Trump for president.

Will it be a hotbed of terrorism with various factions fighting for power and to throw out the US? If America gets out, who will be in charge? Will the UN have a role? Will Egypt or Saudi Arabia be more or less stable? Will the threat of terrorism and support therefore, from Syria and Iran, be ended? Will Turkey and the Kurds be fighting? Will Iran be trying to curry favour with the Iraqi Shi’ites? Will Syria be looking to extend its influence in Iraq?

Shimon Peres, former President, former prime minister, former defense minister, former foreign minister, former minister of eight other ministries, the last surviving member of Israel’s founding fathers, and winner of the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize died Wednesday after suffering a stroke two weeks ago. He was 93.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife expressed their condolences early Wednesday morning at the passing of Israel’s ninth president and internationally cherished diplomat emeritus Shimon Peres.

Few are the people in Israel’s history who have done as much for the state and the Jewish people as Shimon Peres, Netanyahu said in a statement released just before a special cabinet meeting he is convening to honor the former president.

“Like all the citizens of Israel, the whole Jewish people, and many in the world, I bow my head in memory of our beloved Shimon Peres,” he said in a statement.

When I arose at 0330 this morning to watch the American presidential debates, I couldn’t help but think about the concept of leadership – what makes a good leader and why it’s rare to find one who is also a good politician. So I was pleased to run into this very interesting article by Elliott Jager about a man who was a great leader of the Jewish people, although he was not successful as a politician and unfortunately died far too soon.

The man, of course, was Ze’ev Jabotinsky, whom generations of left-leaning politicians dismissed as a fascist and an extremist, and whom many still think of as a footnote in Zionist history that is best kept at the bottom of the page.

T. Belman. You have to wonder why the US is so invested in a two-state solution as opposed to a binational state. What’s it to them. Politicians and pundits have been speculating on the possibility of a Security Council resolution being passed which imposes parameters on Israel. The fact that Israel is building a few homes and demolishing illegal Arab homes shows that she is ready for a show down.

Kerry urged his allies on by saying, “Either we mean it and we act on it, or we should shut up.”. I find that strange. All he has to do is get France to table their resolution and get Obama to withhold his veto. Why all the agitation? Is some country or countries on the Security Council against this happening?

Even if it did happen, Pres Trump could cut a different deal with Israel for the disposition on J&S and who would say boo.

In closed meeting in New York an extremely agitated Kerry accused Israel of breaking its promises and warned that status quo is unsustainable. Sources say Kerry also criticized Palestinians, but placed onus on Israel.

T. Belman. According to my information, the coup didn’t fail, it succeeded. The army surrounded Erdogan and gave him a choice. Either death, resignation or remain the figure head but take orders from the army. He chose the latter. The army would not have mounted a poorly worked-out plan given the facts that their necks were on the line. Also, I am told that the leaders of the coup were not imprisoned but their enemies were. Turkey’s Education Ministry suspended 11,285 teachers this month for allegedly supporting Kurdish separatists. The government also removed by decree 24 elected mayors from pro-Kurdish parties accused of aiding the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK.

Ahead of Monday nights first presidential debate, Rudolph Giuliani – former New York mayor and Republican nominee Donald Trump’s current adviser – spoke at the Israeli American Council’s annual conference. Four days of intense debate preparation with Trump preceded the talk. Giuliani insisted the time has come for the US to “reject the whole notion of a two-state solution in Israel.”

It can only be hoped that regardless of who prevails in November, Giuliani’s statement will become the official position of the next US administration.

T. Belman. I disagree. Jabotinsky’s legacy is far more than a memory or a mascot. He has many followers throughout the Jewish world and they are growing in number. The embers of his policies are close to the bosoms of Liberman, Bennett and Feiglin. Similarly with many stalwarts of the Likud party. These embers will burst into flames heralding a resurgence of Zionism in the coming years.

Many invoke Jabotinsky’s name, but 76 years after his death few today actually care to emulate his secular, nationalist, Zionist ideas.

IN THE summer of 2010, two years before his death at age 102, Benzion Netanyahu gingerly made his way to the gravesite of his mentor Ze’ev Jabotinsky on Jerusalem’s Mount Herzl.

Netanyahu had served as Jabotinsky’s personal secretary in 1940, the same year he died on August 4 (29th of Tammuz) at Camp Betar in Hunter, New York. Standing alongside the elderly historian was his son, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the titular head of the Jabotinsky movement.
