HARD WAR – Israel, are you listening?

By Lt. Col. Kent S Ralston USMC (Ret.), AMERICAN THINKER

Western civilization is immolating itself on the sword of political correctness. Our leaders fail to recognize the existential threat that we now face and are unwilling to take the decisive actions necessary to combat the threat of radical jihadist Islamists.

Leadership on both sides of the political spectrum refuse to identify how we might counter this threat. This is not necessarily a new type of threat that we have not experienced before. However, what is new is our refusal to properly utilize the tools at our disposal to combat this threat.

We often hear our leadership say that it is against our values as Americans to use some of these ruthless but effective tools. Gen. George S. Patton once said, “War is cruel, ruthless and brutal and it takes a cruel, ruthless and brutal man to fight it!” It was the implementation of this approach that ultimately secured victory in 1945.

Mosul Campaign Hampered by Fear of Iraq’s Shia Army

Military observers say there is no sign of offensive to retake the city

By Doublas Burton, FREE BEACON

The grinding village-to-village war against ISIS in Northern Iraq has been weighed down by public complaints from Kurdish officials and military commanders who fear that the Shia-dominated Iraqi army will provoke stiffer resistance from ISIS defenders in Mosul.

Sunni, Shia, and Kurd units all want the political capital that goes with liberating a city of a million people and the capital of Sunni Iraq from ISIS, according to military observers.

A see-saw battle between elements of the predominantly Shia 15th Iraqi Army Division and ISIS fighters over control of abandoned villages on the Makhmour Front 40 miles southwest of Mosul took a turn for the worse on Monday, April 4, according to sources near the front. Last week the Iraqi Army, supported by Kurdish Peshmerga forces, captured four villages, including Al Nasr, but an ISIS counterattack recovered the village and left 20 soldiers dead, Rudaw reported.

Western states block Kurdish participation in Syria peace talks proposed by Russia

RUSSIA TODAY

© Rodi Said

Russia’s proposal to include Kurds in Geneva Syrian talks was vetoed by the UN Security Council’s Western members, UN envoy Vitaly Churkin reported, saying this contradicts UN resolutions on Syrian reconciliation and ignores calls for inclusive talks.

Churkin warned that if the Syrian Kurds do not participate in the peace process, international efforts to bring peace to Syria could be undermined.

ISIS descends on Jordan’s border, activates suicides. Jordanian command post in Daraa

DEBKA

ISIS forces in southern Syria overran several Jordanian border crossings south of the Yarmouk River on Tuesday, April 5. This disastrous turn of events is illustrated by an exclusive picture obtained by DEBKAfile of an ISIS fighter unfurling the organization’s flag at one of the crossings which sports a Jordanian flag.

The picture taken the same day shocked the royal court and the Jordanian military command in Amman.

Our military sources report that an urgent conference was called at the Military Operations Command (MOC), north of Amman to devise measures for containing the Islamic State’s leap into more territory on the Syrian-Jordanian border. It was attended by Jordanian, American, Israeli, Saudi and UAE officers.

It is time for Palestinians to be settled in the countries in which they reside.

Op-ed: Palestinian refugees are the only refugees in the world who maintain and bequeath refugee status;

By Yoel Meltzer, YNET

As a result of the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, roughly 800,000 Jews were expelled from various Arab countries in which they had been living for generations.

Consequently, they were forced, like millions of other refugees throughout the 20th century, to resettle elsewhere. Although certainly not an easy task, eventually both the initial refugees and their descendants were able to let go of the past and move on with their lives.

Unlike the Jewish refugees from Arab countries, the story of the roughly 700,000 Arab refugees created by Israel’s War of Independence has been vastly different. Rather than being encouraged to resettle elsewhere, they were turned into permanent refugees to be used as a political tool against Israel. For this purpose, a special UN agency, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), was created in 1950 for the sole intent of maintaining, as opposed to resettling, the original refugees.

Russia and U.S. Near De Facto Alliance in Syria

By Henry Meyer, BLOOMBERG

Fighters allied with the U.S. and Russia, long on opposing sides in the Syrian civil war, are both zeroing in on Islamic State’s center of gravity.

After routing the self-declared caliphate in the ancient city of Palmyra March 27 with the help of Russian air power, the Syrian army’s next major objective is cutting off the terror group’s main supply route between Iraq and Syria. Kurdish-led forces backed by the U.S. are also getting closer to ISIS’s self-proclaimed capital of Raqqa, raising the possibility of a pincer movement that would bring the U.S. and Russia into a de facto alliance. That would have the effect of bolstering Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s hold on power.

THE RELIGION OF COLONIALISM

Why you can’t “colonize” Palestine.

By Daniel Greenfield, FPM

At Israeli Apartheid Week, campus haters claim to be fighting “colonialism” by fighting Jews. Columbia University’s Center for Palestine Studies, dedicated to a country that doesn’t exist and which has produced nothing worth studying except terrorism, features diatribes such as Abdul Rahim al-Shaikh’s Palestine Re-Covered: Reading a Settler Colonial Landscape”. This word salad is a toxic stew of historical revisionism being used to justify the Muslim settler colonization of the indigenous Jewish population.

Refugees Expose ‘Rights Groups’

By Evelyn Gordon. COMMENTARY

Israel and its supporters have argued for years that many “human rights” organizations are far less concerned with human rights than with pushing a political agenda. But as long as that political agenda consisted mainly of attacking Israel, most Westerners remained convinced that these groups still deserved their credibility and moral haloes. Even initial forays into political issues unconnected with Israel – like Amnesty International’s controversial assertion last year that upholding human rights requires decriminalizing prostitution – didn’t destroy the halo. But by demanding that the European Union accept millions of Middle Eastern migrants rather than returning them to Turkey, these organizations have picked a political fight that millions of Europeans actually care about. And in so doing, they may be dealing their own credibility a long-deserved death blow.

If the F-35 fighter jet is so awesome, why is it so hated?

Israel’s next stealth aircraft is the future of modern warfare, but the Pentagon’s program cost over $1.5 trillion — and it’s not yet operational

F-35 stealth fighter shot down two MiG-29 jets before taking out a surface-to-air missile battery on Sunday morning.

In a simulator at the Tel Aviv Hilton Hotel, anyway.

The F-35 Lightning II fighter jet is known in Hebrew as the “Adir,” meaning mighty or great, and for good reason: It is, quite simply, awesome.

The IDF should change its “morals and values” in line with the people

After I made this suggestion to Yaalon, I received this email from Robin Ticker.

Time to reevaluate IDF Ethics and Morals and the source of IDF warped sense of “values”.

Let’s follow their “morals” and “ethics” to the end.

After Israel finds this soldier guilty of not being distressed or concerned with the killing of a terrorist, Israel will probably have to show their remorse and apologize for all the terrorists they have killed ever since the knife intifada started.  Many of the terrorists were children.  Israel is now guilty of murdering children and teens. Israel will start a rehab center for them.  More incentives for the vast growing pool of existing  Palestinian terrorists validating their “Resistance and aggression to the Occupation”

Ya’alon on Hebron shooting: Those who back soldier don’t back our laws and values

T. Belman. Maybe its about time we changed our laws or values.

By TOVAH LAZAROFF, JPOST

The soldier under fire in last month’s Hebron incident acted against the laws and values that bind and strengthen Israeli society, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said on Tuesday, as he spoke with high school students in the Jordan Valley settlement of Ma’aleh Ephraim.

“Those who back the soldier don’t back our laws and values,” Ya’alon said.

He spoke with the students on the same day that a military hearing was held about the detention of the soldier who on March 24, fired the fatal shot at an already wounded Palestinian assailant.

ANALYSIS: The end of Israeli democracy?

In the cacophony of grandstanding over Israelis’ endangered liberties, one of the most profound debates in the country’s history is being missed

BY HAVIV RETTIG GUR. TOI

In a recent op-ed in the Forward, Daniel Sokatch, CEO of the left-leaning US-based New Israel Fund, laid out his widely shared aspiration to rehabilitate the Israeli left from afar by flooding it with cash.

“The attacks on civil society and other democratic institutions continue from year to year,” he wrote, “with some right-wing victories such as passage of the boycott law [which allows civil suits to be brought against West Bank settlement boycotts], and some defeats at the hands of Israel’s underestimated and underfunded left.”

If American Jews and Israel Are Drifting Apart, What’s the Reason?

T. Belman. How can we expect American Jews who are fleeing their Jewish Identity and intermarrying, to simultaneously care about Israel. In fact because they are fleeing their identity they are more likely to flee Israel than an ordinary American.

The conventional wisdom says the problem is Israel. It’s wrong.

By Elliot Abrams, MOSAIC

Everyone knows that American Jews and Israel are drifting apart—and everyone is confident of the reasons why. Israel, it is said, has become increasingly nationalistic and right-wing; “the occupation” violates liberal values; and the American Jewish “establishment,” with its old familiar defense organizations and their old familiar apologetics, has lost touch with young American Jews who are put off by outdated Zionist slogans and hoary appeals for communal solidarity. In brief, the fundamental problem resides in the nature of the Israeli polity and the policies of the Israeli government, which together account for the growing misfit between Israelis and their American Jewish cousins.

Netanyahu’s dilemma: Détente with Turkey or recognition of Syrian Kurds

DEBKA

They were once good friendsLast Friday, April 1, President Reccep Tayyip Erdogan had his first encounter with a group of American Jewish leaders, at his request. The full details of its contents were hard to sort out because the Turkish translator censored his master’s words with a heavy hand to make them more acceptable to his audience. But Erdogan’s bottom line, DEBKAfile’s New York sources report, was a request for help in explaining to the Obama administration in Washington and the Netanyahu government in Jerusalem why they must on no account extend support to the Syrian Kurdish PYD and its YPG militia or recognize their bid for a separate state in northern Syria.

By YONAH JEREMY BOB, JPOST

Shaked1To a rowdy melee of cheers and boos, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked effectively declared war on the High Court of Justice on Monday, hitting it with blow after blow for the recent decision declaring the natural gas policy unconstitutional.

Shaked said she fears that the world will start to view Israel as a “country which eats its investors.”

She added that “the significance of the decision…could cost the government billions of shekels.”
