PELONI:  So long as the Jihadi state of Iran is allowed to survive, its proxy domination of the region will survive as well because the IRGC regime in Tehran requires the sacrifice of these foreign fighters as the grist in Iran’s war with the West.  They don’t trust their own population, and by using the indoctrinated proxies the war is kept at arms length with enough of a claim of deniability so as to allow the West to cling to the myth of being deceived.  In fact, the West’s hopes of seeing an end to war is what will sustain the war with Iran which they are to both ignoring and losing in the same moment.

On October 4, the UK Green Party passed a reckless resolution. It declared Zionism a form of racism, demanded an end to all arms sales to Israel, and endorsed eliminating Israel as a Jewish state. Wrapped in high-minded language, the party claimed: “The Green Party is an anti-racist party and has consistently opposed the illegal occupation of both Palestinian and Syrian land, [and] called for an end to arms sales to the Israeli government ….”

UPDATE:  Axios’ reports that IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Zamir warned the Trump administration that if strikes took place in the next three weeks, Israel would have to delay its election.  Subsequent to this report Trump has announced that there will be no resumption of the war prior to the elections in Israel or the US.

PELONI:  So as the drums of war are once again being sounded, are we to believe that war is imminent before the coming elections in Israel and the US, or is this more gunboat diplomacy to support Vance’s term even after the Iranians have once again proven an inability to moderate even their rhetoric?  Time will tell.

PELONI:  Magnificent speech beaconing a return of the West to marshal their own success, to guard their own borders and to return a sense of sovereignty of nations as related to the roots of its heritage.  As the world looks forward, it must maintain the vision, aspirations and connections to the source of the traditions and values on which they were founded, and that source for all of this is to ancient Greece as well as ancient Israel.  With this in mind, it would have been an important point to have at least mentioned the Judeo Christian values of Western Civilization, which are no where mentioned in this otherwise exceptional speech.

PELONI:  The near encompassing need to condemn the “settlers” for violent acts seems to forever precede any investigation into who did what to whom.  Indeed, it is an abuse of reasonable debate to presume the guilt of these Jewish pioneers simply because they are Jewish, and yet this is exactly what is taking place, from Ambassador Huckabee describing a security guard driving down a road as a terrorist to the head of the Shin Bet threatening to reinstitute administrative detention, this rush to judge the Jew as guilty has obvious friends of Israel and responsible Israeli leaders making false statements based on assumed facts which lack any measure of credible investigation.  This is a disgraceful trend which has the image of Lucy pulling the football from beneath those who should be more circumspect about assuming Jews are guilty of commiting wanton violence in lands where Arab terrorism is not just present but is the very basis on which the Arabs are present on the land.  These acts of irresponsible rush to judgement against the settler community must be ended.

PELONI:  Rabbi Pesach Wolicki argues that the U.S. was right to waive the human-rights conditions on $320 million in military aid to Egypt because, despite Egypt’s severe repression, maintaining American leverage over Cairo is strategically important—particularly regarding Gaza and preventing Egypt from falling further into China’s orbit. He emphasizes that this is a choice between “bad and worse”: continued U.S. engagement keeps Egypt tied to American military systems and gives Washington leverage, whereas cutting aid could push the repressive regime closer to China.  What goes unaddressed is the fact that Trump has failed to use his leverage over Egypt as it has ignored the troop buildup in the Sinai, hostile threats toward Israel, and refused to play any role in removing the Gazans from the war zone in Gaza… So it beacons the question of who is leveraging influence with whom…

PELONI:  I was greatly disappointed that it took a month for this announcement to be made by the Trump administration.  There is no good faith basis on which these economic sanctions have been raised against Israel and permitting such an economic war to be raised by Western democracies is unprecedented under international law, as it is focused against the only democratic nation in the Middle East, thus revealing more about those nations raising these measures.  Good to see the US finally making this clear to its earstwhile European allies.

The U.S. has threatened retaliatory sanctions, including trade tariffs, against Britain, France, Norway and other allies over their coordinated economic boycotts and import bans on Israeli settlements of Judea and Samaria.

The threat was issued at a Trump administration briefing…

PELONI:  War is a contest which is won by those with the greatest determination.  As our enemies are armed with a sense of savagery and disregard for the welfare of their own society, we are armed with a sense of righteousness.  The Western societies are conflicted as to which side of these divisions might be more worthy of their interest and their support only demonstrating the level to which the moral collapse is being exacerbated in the West by many of the same savage interests which motivated the breach of the Israeli envelop surrounding Gaza on October 7.  There is no contest as to whether Israel will win this war, as there is no alternative but to win such a war with such abject savagery as our adversaries.  Whether the West can come to appreciate the truth evident in this contest will determine if it too will be counted among the victors in this war, or if it will instead choose the fate of being among its casualties.

We’re in a war between savages and civilization. Everything else is a detail.

PELONI:  It is a sad commentary to have political rallies being simultaneously orchestrated around the remembrance events of the horrors of October 7.  We should not forget that the deep political divides of early and later 2023 were the context in which Hamas’ attack was not only launched and that this context was also a primary motivating feature of their savage assault.  Israeli division with deep international support, including both financial and geopolitical aspects, around the right of the Israeli govt to act upon policies over which they were elected to enforce was the very backdrop around which the October 7 slaughter took place.  Three years later, much has changed, but with the coming elections just three weeks away, Israeli division is ever present.  What must be understood about October 7 is that October 8 followed that calamity, and with it came a sense of unity and solidarity which shocked our enemies and have ultimately faced them on every front of this 8 front war.  It is this spirit of unity which must come to dominate over the divisions of politics for that is the path to victory rather than defeat, and Israel is ever just one defeat from utter calamity which will see the horrors of October 7 played out on a national scale.  It is ever important to realize that the communities which were specifically targeted for slaughter and captivity were those which were most sensitive to the interests of the people of Gaza, highlighting the reality that, as was true in the Holocaust, the political differences which divide our people elicit no inference with our enemies.  They simply seek to see our people destroyed…only the pursuit unity dims their hopes of succeeding, and unity of our people is what simultaneously presents us as both a powerful force in the region and around the world.   There are many lessons to learn about October 7, but the need to provide a central sense of unity should surely be counted among them and demonstrated for all to see, particularly during any event meant as a remembrance of October 7.
