Al Jazeera asks: “Why are thousands of Palestinians being held in Israeli prisons without charge?” Its answer is not too complimentary to this nation: “Every year, April 17 marks Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, a day dedicated to the thousands of Palestinian prisoners in Israel. Campaigners use the day to call for the human rights of such prisoners to be upheld and for those who have been detained without charge to be released. On Monday, Israel released 150 Palestinian prisoners detained during the war in the Gaza Strip. These prisoners, including two Palestine Red Crescent Society workers, said they suffered abuse during their 50 days in Israeli prison, according to a report by the Reuters news agency.”
The National Public Radio is not a happy camper with regard to this phenomenon. According to NPR’s Asma Khalid: “Hundreds of Palestinians suspected of being involved in the October 7 Hamas attacks on southern Israel are being held in Israeli prisons. That’s according to Israeli NGO HaMoked. These prisoners join thousands of other Palestinians arrested in Gaza and the West Bank – accused, but often not even convicted of crimes. In total, an estimated 7,000 Palestinians are in prison, including many minors and activists. Nearly 2,900 of those detainees are held without trial.”
Peloni: This spectacle of support for the not so unpopular Hezbollah in Lebanon demonstrates the lack of will or interest or ability in Lebanon to rid themselves of their Iranian overlordship, which is why they should simply be deprived of this foreign controller by nixing it at the root, ie regime changing Iran for the betterment of the Iranians, the Lebanese, the Israelis, the Sunni states, and the broader Western world. It is a Win-Win-Win-Win-Win scenario.

President Trump’s proposal for resettling Gazans in other countries brought to the forefront a long-forgotten truth: Jordan is Palestinian.
Yes, Jordan is Palestinian, defined by its geography, demographics, history, culture, and identity. It reflects the shared heritage of its people as Arabs on both sides of the Jordan river were called “Palestinians Arabs” until 1948. The idea of a Palestinian Jordan is not just a political maneuver; it is a historical reality that cannot be ignored.
Peloni: These are Jewish lands, settled by the Jews in antiquity, and the Jewish presence has been maintained here til the British led Arab land grab took place in 1948. Our indigenous right to these lands is documented in ancient texts, archaeological evidence and has been acknowledged by the international community during the San Remo Conference. Furthermore, the depiction of our history sewn across these lands is described in the Bible, the most published text in the world. We Jews, alone, have any right to these lands, and we will not be parted from them for reasons of security, ancestry, and legality, take your pick. It is well past time for Israel to address the error made in 1967 as described by Fitzgerald below, by extending sovereignty over these lands, to develop them, and rule them under the rule of Israeli law, thus eliminating the last vestige of the notion that the term ‘West Bank’ was anything more than a fable sold as Arab propaganda in a continued effort to erase the Jewish entity, even as this nullifying term has been nearly universal in its adoption throughout the West.

In 1919, the mandates system was established by Article 22 of the Covenant of the League of Nations. This was a way to put European powers in temporary control of various territories that had once been part of the now-defunct Ottoman Empire, that had been on the losing side in World War I. Those holders of the Mandates, Great Britain and France, were entrusted with bringing the people in the various mandates to self-rule. The Arabs in the mandates of Iraq and Lebanon-Syria would in time become three independent Arab states. The League also created a single mandate for the Jewish people, the Palestine Mandate, that under British control would be made ready to become the first independent Jewish state, in the historic homeland of the Jews, in more than two millennia.
Peloni: The reality is that the US has no reason to interact with Qatar. It is a terror hub fate should be no different from those who savagery they subsidize. US interaction with Qatar does nothing more than to grant Qatar the deference and influence which works against regional peace and international stability. Instead, the US should fully divest itself from the substantial influence which Qatari largess buys among the American political class. At a minimum, Qatar should be classified as a terror state, isolated and cut off from interaction with the US and her allies, leaving her influence peddling to be passed about its terrorist allies without the corrupting control which they have for too long held over the West, and particularly US leadership and US institutions.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei thrust a long-simmering hostage controversy into the headlines on February 19. Speaking with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Tehran, Khamenei requested that Doha release $6 billion frozen in a Qatari bank that the Biden administration unblocked in 2023 as ransom in exchange for American citizens imprisoned in Iran. After extolling Qatar as “a friendly and brotherly country” despite “unresolved issues,” the supreme leader encouraged Sheikh Tamim to sidestep the Trump administration’s maximum pressure campaign and open the faucet.

“O God, do not be silent; hold not Thy peace, and be not still,” the Chief Rabbi of Israel prayed the words of Psalm 83 over the bodies of two murdered children, their mother and an old man.
Hamas and PLO terrorists had mockingly paraded their coffins to the cheers and jeers of Muslim men, women and children occupying Gaza while upbeat music played, they had mixed up the bodies, locked the boxes and then attached keys that did not work. After inspecting the coffins for explosives, Israel had covered them with its blue and white flag and prayed over them.
Peloni: Trump policy on Turkey begins to take form, and as expressed by Rubio, it properly marginalizes Turkey in preference of Saudi Arabia.

This is wise, in light of Saudi Arabia’s attempt to retreat from some of the harsher aspects of Wahhabi Islam, and Turkey’s Ottoman revanchism. Ultimately, however, none of these countries can be trusted to be reliable allies.
Peloni: I have raised the issue of the lack of independence of Ukrainian leadership from its radical elements in the past. It is a tangible and sizeable issue which if addressed could significantly improve the possibilities in Ukraine for a durable and lasting peace. Unfortunately, realizing such an outcome would not be easily achieved, particularly while the war is still ongoing.

Words matter. The misuse of words… matters even more. It is not a new phenomenon for words to be appropriated by those the least appropriate to do so. When the word “genocide” which was clearly used to discuss Hitler’s evil plan to eliminate the Jews of Europe… is now twisted to somehow be hurled against later generations of those self-same Jews when they courageously respond to the murderous attacks by Hamas barbarians against the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of those who escaped Hitler’s clutches…. is simply unconscionable.
It is bad enough when our enemies make claims against Israel which are invalid, but when self-professed “morally-superior” Jews do it, it is time to discuss the error of their ways.

Peloni: Establishing a ‘credible threat of military force’, as described in detail in the Section 3 under the Policy Recommendations header in this essay, will not deter the Mullahs who are motivated by a armeggedonist ideology. Failing to appreciate this reality will only serve to embolden the Mullahs as precious time is spent in the pretense that such radicals as those who designed the October 7 massacre can be either threatened into capitulation or reasoned into rational compliance. Instead of establishing a credible threat of military force, the West, led by the US, should eliminate the existing threat emanating from Iran, which is organized throughout both Europe and South and Central America. Coordinating an attack on its nuclear and oil producing infrastructure with regime change operations should be executed in lieu of demonstrations of force as described below. By thus cutting the head off this nearly nuclear Hydra, the US led effort will stabilize and protect, not just the Middle East, but the entire world, while also freeing the people of Iran and Lebanon which are currently held fast in the fist of the tyrannical Mullahs.
