The problem is simple.
Iran wants nuclear weapons because of its religious belief in Jihad. It’s not going to give up that belief for money. And money is the only thing we have to offer it in the form of dropping sanctions. That puts us right back to the same place where Obama’s Iran Deal negotiations were.
Peloni: As I noted previously, American resistance has been interpreted as weakness. In fact, the Iranians are being emboldened by the manner in which the US has handled their approach toward negotiations, walking back its demand, ignoring its threats of being ‘locked and loaded’ to support the protestors, and its ‘delaying’ an assault which has yet to come in any form greater than striking a drone approaching its carrier in a threatening posture.

Senior Iranian regime officials and their media mouthpieces are continuing to issue threats, with the aim of deterring President Trump from attacking Iran.[1] These threats are in the form of statements, AI-generated videos, cartoons, and billboards in public squares in Iranian cities with messages about killing hundreds or thousands of U.S. troops in the region, sinking U.S. aircraft carriers, launching missiles against the U.S. itself, blocking global shipping lanes, attacking U.S. diplomatic missions, and targeting President Trump’s personal assets.
Peloni: The purpose of antisemitism is to delegitimize us, to break the bond of identity which strengthens our people, and to instill a sense of fear and isolation, all of which must be countered with the strengthening of our identity and connection to our heritage, strengthening security, and promoting resistance to the normalization of antisemitic attacks.
In an age of historic surging antisemitism around the world, suggesting the solution to antisemitism is to maximize the sense of victimhood fails on every level and will only add to the damage intended by antisemites. Meira is correct in challenging Robert Kraft with gaining a better idea of how to counter the threat poised and promoted against the Jewish people.

Peloni: Iran’s ballistic missile threat is too great to ignore, even as it was ignored in today’s meeting in Oman. The US should respond to Iran’s sense of omnipotence by demonstrating that it is the US which has the ability to make demands in these negotiations, not Iran.

Recently, the United States was expected to hold negotiations with Iran in the Gulf Sultanate of Oman. The Trump administration announced the cancellation of the said talks amid disagreements over Iran’s insistence that the negotiations remain strictly limited to its nuclear program, while Washington wanted to discuss a large array of issues. That disagreement alone raises the question: What issue is Tehran even more reluctant to discuss than its holiest of holy, its nuclear program?

On the morning of Saturday, October 7, 2023, over 1,200 of our brothers and sisters were slaughtered by butchers from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and their collaborators. Men, women, girls, boys, infants, the elderly, and young people at a music festival were murdered. They were butchered, shot, suffocated, burned alive, raped, and slaughtered in grotesque ways, and their limbs were hacked off. In my meandering imagination, I was a liberal, yearning to join the anti-ICE peaceful protest in Minneapolis and trying to figure out how I would let our government know how strenuously I object to their policy of deporting illegal aliens.

Iran refused any movement on the only topic on which Iran was willing to talk. So the ‘negotiations’ would appear to have been more of an Iranian dictation to US. In the few hours which have passed since then, Iranian provocation have continued (see tweets below). The Iranians have no interest in avoiding war – they are seeking a confrontation with the US. Will this be the weekend in which their fantasies are fulfilled?

Qatar is that nasty little emirate on the Persian Gulf, owned by the Al-Thani family, that owes its hold on the world’s attention solely to the fact that it sits on the third largest reservoir of natural gas in the world. Culturally, it does not exist.
