Winkin’, Blinken, and Nod

By Clarice Feldman, AM THINKER

This week’s column on the ongoing fight between civilization and barbarity focuses on the role on the United Nations and its various agencies in keeping jihadism alive and well; the outrageous efforts by the incompetent Anthony Blinken to hamstring Israel’s justified defense; and the little-known or publicized support by Arab leaders for Israel’s eradication of Hamas.

What We Must Tell Blinken

T. Belman. Amen to that.

by Victor Rosenthal     December 4, 2023

With the resumption of fighting in the Gaza Strip, American Secretary of State Blinken has informed Israel of the restrictions under which the US will permit her to operate. No displacement of the civilian population, and fewer civilian casualties (although there are no numbers except those that come directly from Hamas). No bombing hospitals or schools, even when they are in fact sanctuaries for Hamas troops. No cutting off the supply of fuel, which Hamas uses to keep its tunnels lighted and ventilated.

By Cullen Linebarger, GATEWAY       3 Dec 2023

An American warship and several other commercial ships came under attack Sunday in the Red Sea, potentially marking a  escalation in a series of naval forays in the Mideast linked to the Israel-Hamas war.

An American warship and multiple commercial ships are under attack in the Red Sea, according to the Pentagon.

The warship is reportedly the USS Carney.

The UK will send unarmed surveillance flights to the Middle East to help find remaining hostages held by the Hamas terrorist group, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Saturday.

Some hostages taken by Hamas were released during a week-long truce in exchange for prisoners, but more than 130 people remain in captivity as fighting resumed on Friday morning.

President Biden Must Stop Caving to Far Left Ceasefire Calls and Instead Stand Firm With Israel

As Israel resumed its offensive in Gaza this week, calls for a long-term ceasefire from inside the United States – particularly within the Democrat Party – have remained strong.  Indeed, many had pushed for the previous short-term pause in fighting, which allowed the release of hostages held by Hamas, to remain in place indefinitely.  While we should celebrate the return of innocent Israeli civilians being reunited with their families and loved ones, we must recognize that a long-term ceasefire would play right into Hamas’ hands.  Such a ceasefire would not remove Hamas from Gaza, and it would only encourage future attacks on Israel.

American democracy: Is it worth preserving?

By Alexander Markovsky, AM THINKER

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin said that if the nation’s voters give former President Donald Trump another term in the White House, “he will destroy democracy in America.” There are many Democrats and Republicans who share this opinion. Be that as it may, the pertinent question is whether this democracy, under the leadership of a demented man and marred by incompetence and corruption, is worth preserving.

IDF Corralling Gaza Arabs Alongside Egypt’s Border in the Southern Strip

By David Israel, JEWISH PRESS    Dec 3/23

In Egypt’s strategic and diplomatic approach, objection to a permanent resettlement of hundreds of thousands of Gaza Arabs stands as a fundamental element for national security. This stance sharply contrasts with Israel’s objective, as it actively directs more Arabs toward the Rafah crossing with Egypt.

Everyone Should Refrain from Recognizing a ‘Palestinian State’

T. Belman. This move is entirely political. International law sets out certain criteria which should exist to justify recognition, none of which exists here.

by Drieu Godefridi, GATESTONE  •  December 3, 2023

  • In the case of a “Palestinian State”, there is no territory on which even the Palestinians agree. Indeed, the charter of Hamas — designated as a terrorist organization by many countries in the West, and which has reigned unchallenged in the Gaza Strip since 2007 when it forcibly expelled the Palestinian Authority, in part by throwing its members off 15-storey buildings — calls for the “liberation” of “every inch of Palestine” through jihad.

Return to Gush Katif: Determined movement emerges to resettle Israelis in Gaza

T. Belman. This movement calls for resettling Gaza in the north. I go further. Israel should empty out the north 80% of Gaza of all Gazans and annex the same. To just reestablish Gush Katif, will leave us with the same problems that got us to leave in 2005.

There is no legal or historical basis that favours the Gazans mkeeping Gaza. Gaza is simply a big refugee camp in Israel

As some supporters cite ideology and others defense needs, a coalition forms after Hamas’s October 7 massacre with the goal of renewing Jewish presence in the Strip, gone since 2005

Though US President Joe Biden said it would be a “big mistake” and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the idea “unrealistic,” hundreds of activists at an Ashdod gathering in late November called for reestablishing Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip following the October 7 massacre orchestrated by Hamas.

“I call from here to all the ministers of the government and to their head, the prime minister — make your voices heard now, lift up your heads,” declared Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, to robust applause.

The Rapid Return of Israel’s Disastrous Policy

T. Belman. Read it and weep.

by Daniel Pipes, Middle East Quarterly,  Winter 2024

Judging by the way Netanyahu has managed Gaza in the last 13 years, it is not certain that there will be a clear policy going forward.— Tal Schneider, Times of Israel

“Everything changed” in Israel on Oct. 7. But did it? Understanding the mistakes that led up to the Hamas massacre provides a basis to evaluate Israel’s long-term response to that day. Contrary to general opinion, I shall argue that the presumptions behind those mistakes remain in place and will not change unless Israelis adopt a radically different attitude toward the Palestinians.

Israel has told Middle Eastern neighbors that it seeks to create a buffer zone in the Gaza Strip to prevent future Palestinian terror attacks after the current war concludes, according to media reports Friday and Saturday.

Jerusalem has informed Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey of the plans, three unnamed sources from the region told the Reuters news agency.

Who’s winning the Biden administration’s civil war over Israel?

A controversial presidential post on X highlighted the White House’s attempts to simultaneously support Israel and signal its opposition to continue the fighting.

By  Jonathan S. Tobin 11-30-2023

This isn’t supposed to be the president with the social media problem. For four years, President Donald Trump bypassed the press by tweeting his thoughts to more than 87 million followers on what used to be called Twitter. Trump’s feed was must-reading for anyone who followed politics or just wanted a good show as he shared his unfiltered thoughts about just about anything. The chattering classes hated it, considering it unpresidential and crude. But Trump’s willingness to be outrageous or to go for his opponent’s jugulars only endeared him to his supporters.

What Were the Hamas Monsters Thinking?

The Palestinian cause is damaged

By  November 27, 2023

We know the multifaceted strategy of the monstrous Hamas operation of October 7.

In precivilizational fashion it wished to kill and mutilate the most vulnerable of all Israeli civilians and thus to shock the world that it was capable of—and proud about— anything, from decapitation to necrophilia. Such animalistic savagery, in the reckoning of Western therapeutic society, was supposedly to be seen as forced upon Hamas murderers by the “occupation.”

As antisemitism spikes across Europe, fingers are pointing at Russia

As the Israel-Hamas war rages, sources claim Russians stoking an already tense situation – a strategy used by the country’s security services against the West since the Cold War

JTA — When Stars of David began appearing on Jewish homes and institutions in Paris’ 10th arrondissement late last month, as well as on a Jewish woman’s home in Berlin, many were quick to bring up comparisons to the Nazi era.

But French authorities pointed to a surprising culprit: Russia.
