Iran Helped Plot Attack on Israel Over Several Weeks

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps gave the final go-ahead last Monday in Beirut

DUBAI—Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas’s Saturday surprise attack on Israel and gave the green light for the assault at a meeting in Beirut last Monday, according to senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah, another Iran-backed militant group.

Officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had worked with Hamas since August to devise the air, land and sea incursions—the most significant breach of Israel’s borders since the 1973 Yom Kippur War—those people said.

Details of the operation were refined during several meetings in Beirut attended by IRGC officers and representatives of four Iran-backed militant groups, including Hamas, which holds power in Gaza, and Hezbollah, a Shiite militant group and political faction in Lebanon, they said.

HAMAS ATTACK WAS PREDICTABLE

IISS predicted/warned–time and time again–that a major strategic fiasco over Gaza was imminent (see below). Sadly, these warnings were never heeded.  Help IISS gain more traction by supporting its incisive and insightful work.

Israel’s stark option: Arabs in Gaza or Jews in the Negev?

If back in 2005, on the eve of the “disengagement,” some far-sighted individual had predicted that reality would be as it is today, his caveats would have been disdainfully dismissed as unfounded scare-mongering.

President Biden’s Extraordinary Hostility to Israel – Israel Hayom’s Mort Klein Op-Ed

T. Belman.  And this was written 2 days before the vicious attack on civilians.  600 dead and counting. Six times bigger per capita thjan 9/11 for the US

Let’s not be fooled. Extolling “ironclad friendship” between America are simply meaningless and phony words when Biden is enriching the Iranian terror regime with billions of dollars in funds and sanctions relief; pressing Israel to cede her sovereignty and security to a Palestinian terror state on “Auschwitz lines” that would render Israel indefensible.

By Morton A. Klein

(October 5, 2023 / ISRAEL HAYOM) President Joe Biden and his administration have been pursuing the same hostile-to-Israel policies promoted by the Obama-Biden administration.

Let’s not be fooled. Extolling “ironclad friendship” between America are simply meaningless and phony words when Biden is enriching the Iranian terror regime with billions of dollars in funds and sanctions relief; pressing Israel to cede her sovereignty and security to a Palestinian terror state on “Auschwitz lines” that would render Israel indefensible; and sending over $1.5 billion to Hamas-allied UNRWA and to the Palestinian regime thereby freeing up funds for the Palestinian Authority to continue paying Arabs lifetime pensions to murder Jews and Americans.

Russia wants to use Israel-Hamas conflict to reduce Western support to Ukraine: ISW

T. Belman. I blame the West too. Always protecting the Palestinians and stopping Israel from defeating Fatah and Hamas.

Always ignoring the intent of Hamas and the PA to destroy Israel and forcing Israel to get in bed with them

Always financially supporting the PA and UNRWA knowing they were terrorists.

and we should cancell the deal that Biden insisted on in which we gave Hezbollah some of our gas fields.

By Tuqa Khalid, Al Arabiya English  08 October ,2023: 08:06 AM GST

Russia is already and will continue to exploit the Hamas attacks in Israel to advance several information operations intended to reduce US and Western support and attention to Ukraine, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said on Sunday.

The Washington-based think tank said: “The Kremlin amplified several information operations following Hamas attacks in Israel, primarily blaming the West for neglecting conflicts in the Middle East in favor of supporting Ukraine and claiming the international community will cease to pay attention to Ukraine by portraying attention to the Middle East or alternatively Ukraine as a zero-sum comparison.”

Victor Davis Hanson: A 50th Anniversary War?

Authored by Victor Davis Hanson,

Why did Hamas stage a long-planned, carefully executed and multifaceted attack on Israeli towns, soldiers, and civilians – one designed to instill terror by executing noncombatants, taking hostages, and desecrating the bodies of the dead?

And how were the killers able to enter Israeli proper in enough numbers to kill what could be hundreds and perhaps eventually wound what could be thousands?

Israel’s Opportunity to Destroy Hamas

The security establishment has feared engagement in Gaza more than the terror group’s rule. Saturday’s attack may change that.

By Daniel Pipes, WSJ

The surprise attack on Israel by Hamas, the Islamist organization ruling Gaza, is a humanitarian horror. It is also a strategic opportunity for Israel, the U.S. and democracies everywhere.

UPDATE ON WAR

Sunday 2:10 AM: Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan remarked on the attack: “Today is Israel’s 9/11 moment. Life for us will never be the same after today’s vicious terror attacks by Hamas terrorists. 250 murdered Israelis is the equivalent of over 8,000 Americans. When we say never again, never again is now. May God bless the State of Israel.”

America’s Betrayal of Israel

A decade of perverse U.S. policy sets the stage for mass murder

By Liel Leibovitz, TABLET  October 07, 2023

I am writing this on Saturday, as news outlets report hundreds of Israeli dead, and dozens, if not hundreds, of soldiers and civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and taken into Gaza.

It is never a good idea to write anything as events are still rapidly unfolding, especially as neither I nor anyone else can answer the only question that ultimately matters—namely, “what happens now?” But we can answer another, much more rudimentary and no less urgent question: Who’s at fault?

Netanyahu offers Lapid, Gantz to join him in emergency unity government

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proposes that opposition parties Yesh Atid and National Unity enter an emergency government following Hamas’s devastating surprise attack Saturday morning.

Netanyahu makes the offer during a meeting with Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid and National Unity party leader Benny Gantz held earlier today, saying such a government would be the same in format as the Levi Eshkol government then-opposition leader Menachem Begin joined before the Six Day War in 1967.
