Israel rejects absurd US led Lebanese proposal

Peloni: Following Trump’s full embrace of Israel in his speech before the Knesset, we are left to ponder why Trump’s Mideast emissaries along with his Lebanese ambassador, are treating Israel so badly by demanding that Israeli interests be subordinate to the interests of its enemies who have been all but defeated in battle?  Mind you, the notion that Israel should abandon its own national interests, be it in Gaza or in Lebanon, is not in Israel’s interest, just as it is not in America’s interest, but it is what is being demanded of her by Trump’s closest advisors…Is this really how DJT wants to re-imagine the Middle East?

Opening of Knesset winter session descends into fight over judicial reform after Speaker Ohana snubs Supreme Court President

Peloni:  The primacy of addressing judicial reform presents itself in every aspect of society, politics, law and geopolitics.  As I have noted for a very long time, this topic will be remedied by this govt or the next, as the political support for doing so emanated from the people and not the political elites.  Better sooner than later, but sooner or later, this very damaging issue will be resolved.

Netanyahu acknowledges court president but demands respect for gov’t as well

If the opening of the Knesset’s winter session is any indication, Israel is in for another highly contentious legislative period.

The first session on Monday already descended into shouting and mutual accusations of illegitimacy, after Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana refused to address Supreme Court President Isaac Amit by that title, instead merely referring to him as a “judge.”

Hamas Renews the Fight and New Threat from Egypt – What you must know about the Gaza Ceasefire

Peloni:  The insidious role of Egypt in arms transfers to Hamas returns to the headlines as drone transfer of arms across the Egyptian border to Hamas accelerates.  Ironically enough it is at this time that Opposition Leader Lapid raises his call for Israel to turn over control of Gaza to Egypt, a frightening and irresponsible suggestion.

No Tomahawk Missiles for Ukraine

Peloni:  Mr. Legends of History provides an interesting overview of the period following Trump’s realignment in support of Ukraine’s stated war aims to today when that position was seemingly reversed back towards reality, an acknowledgement of the fact that Ukraine is incapable of gaining its war goals due to its lack of men, morale and munitions.  He also describes the inexplicable interest which Ukraine has affixed to it receiving Tomahawk missiles while having no way in which to launch these missiles.  Ukraine is in an impossible position, not because it lacks Tomahawk missiles or any other US military asset which it might next place its interest in acquiring, but because it has serious deficiencies (see just above) which Ukraine has no means by which to overcome.  Failing to do so will provide for Ukraine’s ultimate defeat in this attritional war, in which Ukrainian victories have proven to be few in number and diminishing in long term importance.  Ukraine should seek a reasonable negotiated settlement, even as this too will prove to be an impossibility as Zelensky’s regime depends upon the extending support from such radical elements in his armed forces as the founder of the notorious Azov.

Witkoff Expressed Condolences to Hamas Leader

Peloni:  As we return to the days of shuttle diplomacy last witnessed during the Biden administration when a gaggle of US delegates tried to strong arm Israel into capitulating to Hamas, we now see a new gaggle of US delegates arriving in Israel to most likely coerce Israel on this same path towards certain folly.  The choice of two Qatari allied negotiators (Kushner/Witkoff) to act in place of any fair arbiter was very telling, something which was reinforced by the fact that these negotiators themselves don’t see their conflict of interest as anything but a strength – a description which should lead us to believe that they in no way tried to self correct for this bias.  With this in mind, we should grasp the import upon which this duo chose to impose upon Israel, not only that Israel have no right to secure a final victory over the Qatari aligned Hamas, but that Israel also have a responsibility to deal with the needs of the population in Gaza, even as Hamas is being left to reassert its victimization of that same population.  The lack of interest or sympathy by Kushner/Witkoff for the Palestinian Arabs in Gaza being returned to the unkind rule of the Qatari aligned Hamas parallels the lack of interest or sympathy for the Israelis who are now being tasked with having to deal with a cone of protection which has been placed over Hamas during this ‘temporary’ period of Hamas rule, a period which has no end in sight.  In fact, the Qatari influence over Kushner and Witkoff, something which these two managers continue to represent as a strength, seems to have received the best aspect of this deal.  At best, Hamas will either survive this war and at worst they have been given the means by which to return to battle in a better position, regrouped, re-armed, and with the Israelis being designated by Trump’s own negotiators as having been responsible for the needs of the Palestinian Arabs going forward.  This insipid, anti-American, anti-Western and antisemitic Qatari influence scam must be removed from Washington, but it seems the opposite is what has been decided instead.

Despite the recent settlement, Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, both of whom have significant financial interests involving Qatar, the state sponsor of Hamas, went on 60 Minutes. They did it because they knew they would find a friendly audience to bash Israel.

Should the U.S. Continue to Ally with Israel? Yes!

By Walter E. Block & Oded J.K. Faran

Critics of U.S. aid to Israel frequently portray the relationship as entirely one-sided, questioning what America gains from this alliance. Senator Bernie Sanders recently argued on the Senate floor that “what we are doing today is aiding and abetting the destruction of the Palestinian people”¹, while Al Jazeera claims “the US is no longer the senior partner in the US-Israel relationship”². The Cato Institute goes further, asserting that “Israel Is a Strategic Liability for the United States”³.

How public education turned against Israel

The “Zinn Education Project” depicts U.S. and Israeli history primarily through the lens of colonialism and racism to shape classroom narratives.

Among the most shocking developments in America in the two years since the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks is the surge of anti-Israel sentiment seen in public school classrooms, teachers’ unions and local school board meetings.

Full Witkoff/Kushner Interview

Peloni: The revealing statements made in this interview in the first ten minutes is very disturbing.  In fact, it is informative to learn that Witkoff and Kushner completely disregard their financial ties, or that of family members, to the oil barons with whom they are re-inventing the Middle East, as being a conflict of interest.  Revealingly, they describe these conflicts of interest as being ‘experience’ from which their success in reaching the deal struck was secured.  Forsaking the need of arms length actors as negotiators betrays the reality that underlying purpose in such requirements in striking any deal is to provide all parties with an equal point of bargaining power.

Son of Hamas founder: The West was tricked, Hamas has forged a ‘global jihad reset’ on ‘Gaza’s ruins’

A reminder (again): the Palestinian “resistance” (from the River to the Sea) is a central cause to the Muslim ummah. Islam is built on conquest, and has been actively at it for 1,400 years. Hamas is an offshoot of the global Muslim Brotherhood that has managed to infiltrate Western countries with its operatives, and has proliferated extensively.

Israeli gov’t to advance bill splitting AG role, opening path to reassess Netanyahu trial

The first law to be advanced with the opening of the Knesset’s winter session will be the bill to split the role of the Attorney General. This was reported this morning (Monday) on Kan Reshet Bet. The law would allow the government to appoint a new independent prosecutor, separate from Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, who could reconsider the indictments against Prime Minister Netanyahu.

How can we prevent the next October 7?

Peloni:  The warning made by Prof. Zisser was made about 8yrs ago by then Amb. David Friedman.  A solution must be chose by Israel or it will be imposed on her by her enemies and allies.  Importantly, the Jordan Option is not considered by Prof. Zisser, and it is a far better option than any of those which he does put forward.  It is supported by international law, by history and would lead to a far better outcome than the proposition of either empowering a terror enclave on Israeli land or empowering the Jew hating Pal community with the power of expanding the influence of anti-Zionist voting faction in Israel.

If we don’t resolve the conflict, others will – whether terrorists will resume their attacks, or President Trump and the international community will impose a plan for a Palestinian state.

Israel Update: Did Israel Win the War?

Peloni:  Mike Doran and Gadi Taub discuss Trump’s peace plan and whether Israel won the war.  Neither of them argue that Israel should have taken the war to completion.  Gadi believes that the plan is actually intended to put Hamas in control, and leave them with the burden of actually governing in the wasteland they now control.  Mike disagrees on this point and suggests that Trump is adopting a position halfway between the Arabs and Israel so as to become a better arbiter in the peacemaking process.  Mike argues further that the crux of the problem for Israel is that taking the war to completion would be very costly for Israel in casualties, and that after having defeated Hamas, they would ultimately withdraw from Gaza, as has always been Netanyahu’s stated intention, following which some Hamas-like entity would rise up in Gaza and there would be no benefit for Israel having won the war.  As Gadi notes, neither of them see this as a rosy conclusion to the war.

They also discuss Trump’s visit to the Knesset and the booing of Netanyahu at Hostage Square.

Trump’s Gaza “Peace Deal” Is Already Costing Israeli Blood

And It Proves He Still Doesn’t Understand Who the Real Enemy Is

Avi Abelow

The moment the White House Gaza deal was sold as a “historic peace breakthrough,” I feared the worst, not because I oppose diplomacy, but because I know how our enemies exploit Western weakness. Now, just days into Trump’s Gaza “deal,” those fears are being confirmed. The plan, championed by Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, is already costing Israeli lives and empowering the same terror states that financed October 7th.

Here is an alternate view of the Witkoff-Kushner interview…

Peloni: I am shocked by the notion that Israel could launch an attack on Qatar without the US being aware of it, and in fact, I do not believe this is possible.  Recall that Centcom monitors the region in coordination with Israel.  Hence, the part of the American tale presented by Witkoff/Kushner does not pass either the laugh test nor the logic test.

Yossi Baum | X

I had several thoughts in understanding what’s going on here, but at the end of the day it seems that the correct possibility is that Witkoff and Kushner are lying here. And here’s why:

Analysis: Iran threatens nuclear weaponization ambitions

Peloni:  There is little reason to talk with the Mullahs.  The mutually exclusive positions which exist between that of the mullahs and the West relative to Iran’s pursuit of further enrichment could not be made more clear.  It only remains to see to what degree the West has the resolve to enforce their opposition to Iran’s nuclear program.

By Janatan Sayeh | October 18, 2025

Mahmoud Reza Aghamiri, the president of Iran’s Shahid Beheshti University and one of the Islamic Republic’s prominent nuclear scientists, offered a rare glimpse into Tehran’s calculus behind weaponization.

During an October 16 interview, he stated that the regime “has the capability and capacity to build a nuclear bomb” and added that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s religious declaration [against nuclear weapons] can change.” When asked whether Iranian officials and nuclear scientists had ever considered building a nuclear weapon, he replied, “Certainly,” explaining that the idea had crossed the minds of all scientists.

Witkoff/Kushner share Trump’s reaction to setback in hostage deal

Peloni:  Witkoff and Kushner share their sense of betrayal by Israel as they describe how essential they estimate Qatar to be to peace in the Middle East.  There is an important historical corollary to their inexplicable attempt to pursue peace by over valuing relationships of those who have little interest in actually achieving peace.  Ted Belman, obm, described something very similar to the overselling of America’s relationship with KSA during the early 2000’s in his important essay,  “Saudi Arabia and the Peace Process”.  In this essay, Ted recalls how America was manipulated by their dependency on the Saudis to upend US Mideast policy.  The result was not peace, but rather the 2005 Expulsion of Jews from Gaza, which ultimately lead to the 2023 October 7 Massacre.  The relevant section in this essay is shared below along with my further comments.
