Speaking at the Jerusalem Post conference Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the State of Israel was 75 years young but the Jewish people more than 3,000 years old.
“The Arabs tried to slay the Jewish State in its infancy,” said DeSantis, comparing the War for Independence to David slaying Goliath.

WASHINGTON (JTA) — The U.S. House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to congratulate Israel on its 75th birthday and to wish it well in making peace with other countries.
But the encouragement of peace deals did not extend to the Palestinians, in a breach with the language typical of U.S. lawmakers’ past Israeli Independence Day resolutions — and, insiders say, a departure from the language originally drafted for this one.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, their first conversation since the Russian invasion more than a year ago, as Beijing attempts to portray itself as a potential peacemaker in the conflict.
China’s Foreign Ministry said it would send a special representative for Eurasian affairs to Ukraine and other countries “for in-depth communication with all parties on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.”

Paragraph 13 of the Declaration provides that the State of Israel would be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex;. However, the Knesset maintains that the declaration is neither a law nor an ordinary legal document.[33] The Supreme Court has ruled that the guarantees were merely guiding principles, and that the declaration is not a constitutional law making a practical ruling on the upholding or nullification of various ordinances and statutes.[34]
This should be remembered when the Left argues for “complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex;”
Just as Israel has moved on from Ben Gurion’s socialist vision, Israel should free herself from Ben Gurion’s declaration committing us to “provide equality of social and political rights to all inhabitants”. Political rights should only be granted Jews.
