Straddling the Netanyahu question, Zionist Spirit could be kingmaker, if it survives

T. Belman. Netanyahu will make sure they achieve the threshold.  All he has to do is ask some of his Likud voters to vote for them.

After faction leaders Shaked and Hendel unify to raise both of their political fortunes, their unity government appeal might put them in position to crown Israel’s next leader

By CARRIE KELLER-LYNN,, TOI

Despite the festive atmosphere surrounding the launch of the right-wing Zionist Spirit joint slate Wednesday, for many the move smacked of desperation, with two politicians left stranded amid Israel’s stormy political waters grabbing onto each other to stay afloat.

Both Ayelet Shaked’s Yamina and Yoaz Hendel’s Derech Eretz parties are struggling to find a voter base, and it’s not immediately clear if their unified Zionist Spirit slate will present a compelling enough offering to win supporters back before the November 1 Knesset election.

AIPAC’s huge investment in primary campaigns is paying off — but at what price down the road?

Until a year ago, the pro-Israel powerhouse was at pains to explain that it was not, in fact, a PAC.

WASHINGTON — AIPAC believes it’s getting bang for its buck. Big time.

As of this month, the United Democracy Project, one of the two political action committees AIPAC established last December, is the biggest-spending nonpartisan political committee and the second-largest overall this cycle, dispensing more than $26 million on its favored candidates.

The way is being paved for the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine plan

T. Belman. As I have said in the past. it is the Jordan Option which will come to pass and not the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Israel, Jordan and the PLO/PA seem to be moving along on the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine plans. Can it be? Op-ed.

Lapid and the King of JordanCourtesy

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid’s meeting with King Abdullah on 27 July could see negotiations being announced shortly between Israel and Jordan to create a single territorial entity encompassing Jordan, Gaza and parts of the West Bank.

This newly created entity -designated The Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine –together with Israel – will constitute the elusive and previously unattainable two-state solution – pursued by:

The Palestinian Arabs are weak. This is the time to impose our conditions on them.

T. Belman.  Of course he is right but the Lapid/Gantz government was all too happy to lose.

The same US and UK who want us to make concessions to the PA, do not expect Ukraine to do the same for peace. Op-ed.

Alex Nachumson

The Palestinians are weak, both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. Arab countries will not deal with them and are even tired of them. The Turks are busy with Syria and their economy. Europe and the USA are busy with Ukraine and dealing with inflation.

Even the Israeli public has already forgotten the wave of murderous attacks a few months ago and is preoccupied with the cost of living, because it hurts more right now. This is precisely the time not to abandon the Palestinian Arabs, but to push them harder and impose our conditions on them, before it is too late.

Israel is prepared to deal with the Russian government’s legal claims against the Jewish Agency and make changes necessary to enable its continued operations in the country, said Aliyah and Integration Minister Pnina Tamano-Shata after a preliminary court hearing in Moscow.

“The Israeli government is providing the necessary legal framework for the Jewish Agency to deal with the allegations raised by the Russian Ministry of Justice, and I am sure that the issue will be clarified quickly, even if some adjustments are required — we are prepared for that,” Tamano-Shata said.

Supreme Court Leak Doomed Justice Roberts Plans to Save Roe

A new and strange report is out about the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court (SCOTUS), John Roberts, that claims he was secretly trying to pressure the other sitting justices to not overturn the historic Roe V Wade decision in what is seen as both the left and the right, as a complete betrayal of the moderate position the leader of the SCOTUS claims to favor.

The new report is causing the left to claim all sorts of new things about the nature of the May 2 Politico leak, which ignited a well-prepared mob of street activists to stalk and attack members of SCOTUS.

State Department’s Middle East policy assessed

By Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, “Second Thought: a US-Israel Initiative”   July 28, 2022,

Conventional wisdom vs. evidenced-reality

According to the late Prof. John Kenneth Galbraith, “the notion of conventional wisdom… is commonly understood as knowledge that is accepted within a certain community or among the general public…. [They] tend to hold on to opinions and ideas that fit with their established worldviews. Accordingly, conventional wisdom provides an obstacle for the acceptance of new knowledge or novel and original thinking….

“To its adherents, conventional wisdom provides comfortable padding against inconvenient truths and the complexities of reality…. This is a prime manifestation of vested interest. For a vested interest in understanding is more preciously guarded than any other treasure…. Acceptable ideas are disinclined to change….

What Islam and the Left Agree On

By Mike Konrad, AM THINKER

What is a nation?  That is the question.

In the book of Genesis — whether you take it literally or metaphorically — a nation is essentially an extended family.  Genesis Chapter Ten, often referred to as the Table of Nations, lists the peoples of the Earth, from Israel’s perspective, along with their lineages. The number, apart from Israel, came to 70.

Each particular nation was traceable back to an ancestor.  Mankind was told to fill up the whole Earth, but disobeyed, and started to build the Tower of Babel, where, in Chapter Eleven, the languages of men were confounded, and the peoples were forced to scatter and separate.

In Iran, Israel Has Everyone Rattled

By Hugh Fitzgerald, JIHAD WATCH

Ever since Israel introduced a computer worm into Iranian computers that caused more than a thousand Iranian centrifuges to speed up and destroy themselves, in an operation that has entered history as Stuxnet, Israel has been performing acts of derring-do that have, through cyberwarfare, sabotage, and assassinations, rattled Iran’s leaders. Between 2010 and 2012, four of Iran’s top nuclear scientists were assassinated, one after the other, in the middle of Tehran traffic, by a man (or sometimes two) on a motorbike who pulled up alongside their cars and let loose a volley of shots, then rode off through that traffic. None of the killers has been found.

Israel Elections: Shaked, Hendel announce joint run as ‘Zionist Spirit’

T. Belman.  Saying you want a broad government is one thing but achieving it is another when Gantz and Lapid have said they won’t serve on a Netanyahu led government.  Will Lapid or Gantz join such a broad government? I don’t think so and I hope they don’t unless they agree to Israel retaining all of J&S. How can we not have polarization if they don’t agree to destroy illegal Arab construction and Gantz’s gestures.  I like Shaked’s use of “Jewish and sovereign state,” We must bury the term ““Jewish and democratic state.”

This new Party will bring Bibi’s majority to about 65 seats, all right wing.

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked and Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel launch the Zionist Spirit party

Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked’s Yamina Party and Communications Minister Yoaz Hendel’s Derech Eretz Party will run together in the upcoming Knesset election under the new name “Haruach HaTzionit” (The Zionist Spirit), the two announced on Wednesday evening.

The two spoke about the schism in Israeli society and instability of the system, and repeated what many party leaders have already said: What the country needs is a broad, stable government.
